Yup. my understanding is that the motor is built in with a sensor which recognizes the extra effort required to "pinch" a stuck finger, and cuts off, even if the switch is held in the on position.

2 more features, i found out today, are present in Punto. I didn't know because i never understand these. If somebody knows the details, please explain.

As mentioned in manual -
1. Drive-By-Wire throttle - To provide greater responsiveness for better precision and efficiency.

2. Controlled Area Network CAN with 7 microchips.

Ilango, its not the cable here.

wikipedia
Drive-by-wire, DbW, by-wire, or x-by-wire technology in the automotive industry replaces the traditional mechanical and hydraulic control systems with electronic control systems using electromechanical actuators and human-machine interfaces such as pedal and steering feel emulators. Hence, the traditional components such as the steering column, intermediate shafts, pumps, hoses, fluids, belts, coolers and brake boosters and master cylinders are eliminated from the vehicle. Examples include electronic throttle control and brake-by-wire.
Electronic throttle control (ETC) is an automobile technology which severs the mechanical link between the accelerator pedal and the throttle. Most automobiles already use a throttle position sensor (TPS) to provide input to traction control, antilock brakes, fuel injection, and other systems, but use a bowden cable to directly connect the pedal with the throttle. An ETC-equipped vehicle has no such cable. Instead, the electronic control unit (ECU) determines the required throttle position by calculations from data measured by other sensors such as an accelerator pedal position sensor, engine speed sensor, vehicle speed sensor etc. The electric motor within the ETC is then driven to the required position via a closed-loop control algorithm within the ECU.

Punto has Pollen Filters
Again, i don't know if this is available in other similar cars.
The Opel Astra was the first car to have this.

I found it.[clap]
It can be set by pressing Audio and then Menu and be set to - Off, Low and High (Sensivity).
I have the same menu on my Blaupunkt HU in my Siena.

Here's what I found in my car's

FIAT UNO:
1.Double crank prevention mechanism. This means that you cannot crank the engine while it's running. The positions on the key are as follows; Lock-Off-On-Start. The key can move from On to Start only once. If the car does not start, you have to turn the key back to off and then restart. This ensures that the car is never cranked when the engine is running.

2.The doors cannot be locked with the key inside the car. This means that you cannot press the lock tab on the door and slam it shut and locked (like in a Maruti). You have to lock the passenger door when inside the car (or use the key from outside) and then lock the drivers door with the key. That means the key has to be outside the car. The rear doors can be slam locked.

3.Tumble down seats. The rear seats don't just fold. You drop the back rest like any car. Then you flip over the back and the base so the whole seat stows vertically behind the front seats. That gives you a nice flat loading area.

4.The lights go off when the engine is turned off. Not a very special feature but Maruti (all models) don't have it.

5.The radiator fan comes on and off irrespective of the key position.

6.Factory fitted wiring for the audio system (even in the models which didn't come with the audio system)

7.The Uno was the first car to have the following features (even the Esteem which was a luxury car in 1996 didn't have these and the above 4 features.);
-Child locks
-Internally adjustable mirrors.
-Moulded roof lining.
-Rear parcel tray (NA for Esteem)
-Rear foglamps, side mouldings and wheel caps were standard.

FIAT SIENA (PETRA SHAPE)
Features 1-6 of the UNO.
1. Boot light.
2. Front and rear cabin lights + Rear reading lights.

Most of all the 2 cars had amazing build quality and real fun to drive.

Just a few points of discrepancy.
Child Locks were there in the Zen since its launch in 1993.
The Esteem too had them.
The M1000, which pre-dated the Esteem had moulded roof linings, and that was there in the 1992?
The M800 too got them in 1997, which I think was before the Uno was there in India.

If I'm not wrong, This feature is in Maruti 800 too!

Drive Safe,
350Z
No 800 doesnt have that feature.

Its like when you are about to off the car , the radiator fan is running at that time , if you remove the key and lock the car , in 800 it stops and in uno it doesnt

And rsm , i just joked about the drive by wire!

I bought the Uno in 1996 and I checked the Zen & Esteem. I'm pretty sure these features were not present. The child locks, moulded roof lining and internally adjustable mirrors came later. I also remember reading it in some magazine.

My mistake re the launch date of the Uno.
But the Esteem or the M1000 never had the adhesive type roof lining that the earlier M800s (and the Omni) sport.
