Converted dome lights to warm white, again custom. Park gets custom whites.




Curious case of tail lights. Park light conked off and was wondering how to remove it, with no screws.



By Google's grace found out. The hidden "plastic screw"



Twist and release, the whole assembly comes off.



Easy to release single connector.



4 locks and it opens



Easy access to all bulbs. Biggest surprise was the small T10 park light bulb.

Yet another service. Done at Candour Autotech. Changed some suspension components and overhauled steering column.

One side headlight bulb conked off. Replaced with normal Rally 100/90 - ₹ 140.00

AC Repair:

AC stopped working all of a sudden. Candour did not attend it. Gave it to Cochin Supercoolers. They quoted 20k for a compatible compressor plus labor. Also suggested try replacing a valve. Asked them to order the valve. Nothing heard for a few weeks. When reminded they ordered part and asked to bring the car. Took a day, now everything's fine. So far, so good.

AC Valve + Replacement - ₹ 5,500.00

Well that depends on various factors. Some of our cars' AC haven't been touched since years, some required topping up too early or too frequently. If everything is fine, leave it. No harm in checking though.

August 2018:

New seat covers. Replaced beige and black with full black. Driver seat one torn due to wear and tear and cleaning the beige was a headache with kids

Done from Falcon Corner, Kaimanam. ₹ 5,500.00 including full interior cleaning.

Work quality was good, but finishing not up to mark. Had many material options, stitch colors, etc. 2k extra for OEM finish fit with pipping and all.





Replaced wiper blades, but with Bosch normal ones . Not everyone at home are petrolheads

October 2018:

Got a Tantra Fluke Pro Bluetooth Receiver from Amazon. ₹ 1,800.00. Sound quality was exceptionally good, both music and phone. Connects in less than 2 seconds every time. No lag with changing tracks. Connects to HU's aux port and can be powered with HU USB. Extra long cable to mount anywhere in the dash.



Magnetic mount fixed with double side take. Device can be detached any time.




Mic is inbuilt. Next/Previous button comes handy, missed when using aux. Call can be accepted with a tap. Didn't try the decline , hope it works.



Blue when paired



and red when not.



Powered by USB.



No noise when using same source for powering, unlike most other cases.

November 2018:

Reached a lakh and a quarter club.

Conked off headlight connector was giving headaches, getting loose every other night. Got decent ones from Minda, normally gets unbranded ones only, with poor quality wires, which will be already oxidized. ₹ 70.00. Wire was good and not over-thick.

Had a bizarre accident. Wrong gear and clutch slip, bit a pole from standstill.

Looked much worse than this, pulled out the bumper and put back headlight in place. It was hanging with broken clamps.

Car was in dire need and turnaround time for insurance claim was more and hole of at least 15k in pocket. Amount was insane if we paid full from pocket. Searched scrap for VW parts, not availed. Finally and as expected Ajith Automobiles came to rescue. Quoted 10k with no parts requiring replacement including the broken bumper.

And the outcome was....

All done in 3 days time including a redo since the came out different. No one would know without dismantling or reading it exclusively in TAI. Baap of jugaad.

Mesh plus welding torch is his secret.
