Re: Pre-owned Volkswagen Polo TDi - The Unicorn

@ anshuman8: I will give it a try for sure i will see if there is any available here in the accessory market and see the effect and quality if its worth it i will surely put it. I am not that confident about the Online products as have faced problems earlier, so i rather see the stuff and then get it fitted.

Re: Pre-owned Volkswagen Polo TDi - The Unicorn

Heartiest congratulations Sandykudva on your german machine. That car doesn't look 3 year old from any angle. It looks extremely well maintained by its previous owner and your really lucky to find one such car as else the pre-owned market is filled with lots of abused and ill-maintained cars.

Turbo lag as mentioned by you is quite evident and a driving change does make it a lot better. It surely needs a getting used to. My dad whenever he drives my Polo after his Fiesta Classic, is left red faced as he keeps getting stuck in the turbo lag rev regions and over-taking becomes a lot difficult. Once you know where to keep the revv range, the motor is as eager to sprint forward as any. You tend to do a lot more of gear changes in this car as against some others to be in the power-band, but I feel it makes the drive all the more involving to drive.

Anyways, Congrats once again. Hope you crunch many many happy miles with your Polo. Keep the thread updated. Drive safe.

Re: Pre-owned Volkswagen Polo TDi - The Unicorn

@ GM88 : Thanks for the heartiest wishes buddy. Yes the vehicle is really well maintained hence we actually went forward with the deal. Earlier we have faced a lot of problems buying a diesel without service history hence after that we made it a point not to buy a diesel unless it is maintained by a very close friend or relative of ours who we know maintains the car very well or the car should have complete service history till date.

About the turbo Lag i did face a lot of difficulty on the first 2 days as i had shifted just from the Civic to the Polo. But yes as the days have passed i am learning the driving method of keeping the car near the turbo range so that if i require power it is available at the tap. But it does affect the fuel economy a bit. I do not feel much difference in driving my innova and this in fact i prefer this due to the turbo pull and free rev nature. The power delivery of the innova is very linear hence you do not come to know when the turbo is active at the same time you do not feel the lag.

I have some plans for the future so will surely keep the thread active as of for now its in stock form for some time.

Re: A German Dream Pre-owned VW Polo TDi

@ Music_Swift :- Thanks a lot for the wishes buddy, have read your thread on your rocket looks like you are a VW fan.
Now from rocket to this mini rocket you will feel a lot of difference specially if you drive back to back.
On your fuel efficiency of your rocket you are really getting a nice average infact the Polo will also be giving you around the same but it depends on which diesel you are getting. Is it the GT TDi or the 1.2 TDi.
I have driven mine now around 600kms in 13 days and it has given me a rough average of around 16 Km/ltr in city conditions and around 20-22 Km/ltr on highway conditions cruising at speeds of around 80-90 Km/hr. Now i have not gone on the highway but my office gives me a nice 30 kms of freeway stretch where the car is constantly on 5th gear without any disturbance.

@ GM88 & VipinLJ: I wanted to ask you'll a question, are you,ll facing problems with the AC Vents for the Polo as the partitions in my vents are tending to come out by just a small amount of force applied to change the direction of the vents. :help:

Thankfully, my car doesn't have a problem with the vents yet. No one is allowed to rough handle my car [glasses] But many Polo and Vento owners have complained of the AC vents breaking easily. German engineering, anyone?

Vipin

@ VipinLJ : It is a big let down in the car actually, that too the car being a german [surprise]
In fact according to the owners previous record he has got the vents done on each of his service. Quite surprising. [surprise]
Will see what can be done.

@Music_Swift: What is the charge for the new vents??

You will feel a lot of difference then while driving the 1.2 Tdi and even more if its back to back.
But really a gem of a car to drive if you know to keep it in the range. Need not say as you are well aware of the German engineering by now. [;)]

Re: A German Dream Pre-owned VW Polo TDi

center arm rest seems to be nice...Is it comfortable? I thought of keeping it in my polo but postponed it for now thinking it may damage the interior looks...Do you need to punch any holes to fix this?
