The above pic of the drain plug in M800, so something similar to this would be in your car too. I had done it as a DIy so no idea about the best place to get it installed. However average material prices are Rs.300/- per meter to Rs.450/- max not more than that. Your car might need around 2mtrs at the most. Rs.1500/- (material + installation) will be a good deal.

I can suggest you the best place to buy, he also can arrange for installation, but I did not want to try that so hence did a DIY. I just reached home hence will update the thread with the shop details by morning.

MY opinion:
Floor rusting is a risk you are buying along with vinyl mat, because there is no indication if water is resting & rusting the floor. If your floor has no holes/vents then I dont see any major concerns. try placing your camera below your car on each side & click pictures you will get to know what is where underneath the car. Here is a sample pic of punto. BEST CAR EVER (1).jpg

@Sujith

Underbody coating is normally useful for the people who stay near to the sea environment to avoid rusting, but again it is also useful to avoid the tyre and road noise inside the cabin.

If you want to get it done, go directly to a outlet of 3M and do not get it done at the dealers place

Hi SoozPunto,

Your car is near perfect, yes sir you can get the underbody coating done (only from 3M centers) it should cost max around 3K (2.5 to 3K). It will help to reduce tyre noise & enjoy your ICE at lower volumes itself. As far as rusting is concerned, I dont think it is a major concern as of now, however prevention is better than cure. Most people use 3m underbosy coat once rusting starts, its better to get the underbody treated when it is still in good condition.

Here is a pic of one of my friends Palio which is parked outside (mud road) everyday for last 10years & still has no rust! As far as he remembers he has never used 3underbody coat till date. It is difficult to see in pic if it has any coat though. No repainting done till date. He claims the metal & the paint are so good rusting hardly is an issue. He is waiting for funds to upgrade to Punto, as he believes nothing else will do.

I feel these vinyl flooring are good and easy enough to clean quickly but skeptical that the finish will come perfectly.

I have a doubt here, will the a/c be effective with these things in place? I'm asking this because the OE mats absorbs water and winds faster whereas these vinyls doesn't, also it gets heated up with the direct sunlight showing up.

The vinyl floor starts to smell atleast for the first few days once installed. especially whenever you park the car under hot sun for a long time. Finishing wont be like OEM carpet, it all depends on the tailor who's cutting it. In some cases the floor mats skid on the vinyl flooring (especially when it rains) so you need to tie tags also. however if you are looking at a "dust-free" cabin, easy to clean yes this is it.

Even i got interested to do vinyl flooring while looking in to first page, but later on once realized and read about its disadvantage, decided to stay with the existing setup

my reasons for no to vinyl flooring

as said by others rusting blah blah issue
i believe after removing sunflim our car temp is increased and its summer adding more plastic / vinyl will increase it more where in the normal carpet works better

Hmm, then a good Roots vacuum cleaner will do the job whenever we feel it is having more dust inside, also some thing like 3M interior anti bacteria treatment is also good it seems[:)]

Thanks SS80. However, I won't want to try it myself as the Finishing Quality is what going to be the Game Changer in this matter.

Good point. I thought it would perhaps work in the other way.

I kind of agree. But most of the time we leave all the dust & dirt in the car, travel along with that and keep the A/C ON, breathe the same air again... And finally spend good amount of time / effort or money to clean it with vacuum and park it in the garage for the car to breathe afresh. Again, when everyone jumps in to the car, the same cycle would continue. On the whole, the car stays clean only when no one is inside[clap]. What's the use? Whenever we visit Chennai, we would go to beaches and just imagine the aftermath[frustration].

BTW, here is the update. I enquired with 3 different shops near my place (Banaswadi) and was quoted between 1300 to 2500 bucks for 3 different qualities. 1st Shop: 1500, 1800 & 2500 (Best Quality). Agreed for 2200 and may even workout for lesser and I had a reference from a friend. / 2nd Shop: 1500, 1800 & 2300. Agreed to do it for 2200, again thru a reference. / 3rd Shop: 1300, 1500 & 1900. No negotiations and the dealer isn't friendly to talk. Though the rates are cheaper, not much comfortable to deal with as the attitude of the dealer isn't pleasant.

Saw the finish (in an existing car) from both 1st & 2nd shops. Looks good, but couldn't compare as I didn't get a chance to check any other cars to do so.

Will decide by this week to do it or not and if yes, will do it by Saturday.

Posting my reply to Figoian via PM for benefit of others -
"Apologies for delayed reply. Due to hectic work schedule, culn log in for few days. I know a guy near BSK 2nd stage. But, there have been mixed opinions about floor carpeting. Once, Cauvery ford guy advised me against this because in case there is a leakage in AC drain pipe, it becomes difficult to notice. A Fiesta owner had faced this issue. So give it a thought before deciding.

Thanks Appu. I am looking for similar pattern too. Hope it was done over the existing OE carpet?

BTW, since you have Beige interiors, you could have done with Beige flooring too right? That would show your car more better and spacious. Just my opinion.

Apologies for the very late reply.

Yes, Mine was done over the Existing OEM carpet.

In Beige color, the dust will be more visible and I preferred black color mats[:)]

Thanks Appu. Will it be possible for you to post some pics on the joints (under the seats) to get a feel of the finish? The ones I saw has the joints clearly visible. Want to insist of doing something which is really good and has very minimal visibility to such joints.
