@akhilgopalg: what about your jazz? Since honda has increased the price, then again by budget twice (union and state), wont it would cost too much?

Hi
Congrats man. Your purchase is so silent. You didn't even give a clue. Expecting an ownership report soon
Yep. Anand sort of planned to give us a surprise once he gets his car ;) :)

Yep. Prices increased a lot. Damn. Well we arent yet fixed on jazz yet. Btw, we went to checkout punto lastweek. There was only dynamic variant on display. And gosh there was T-jet with about 1.75L off. With punto,Really liked those seating position. Front sats are really supportive. But, plastic quality was an issue. Dad pulled the rake adjust and he was unable to fix it back. There began the problems. He said swift's interiors are better than Punto's. Regarding price, SA told prebudget price of emotion is 7.61L. Only offer he could give us was pay 3000 or so for insurance. He said he cant reduce the price below 7.5L. Dad bargained a lot and SA finally asked us to opt for dynamic. Asked about stereo quality and SA said all OEM stereos have average rating. He said he will call us after state budget. But, till no calls yet. Its not that we are waiting for their call. ;) Dad and Mom are not quite happy with punto. Dad says 'we dont really need diesel' . He said if we wanna change from jazz, we can opt for Ertiga zxi(dat too petrol), if it prices are well under our range. Called up Fiesta petrol and its just 8.1L onroad. But,its out of budget again. As of now, dilemma continues. Waiting for Ertiga prices. :)

btw, which color you opted for Punto?

I think the ertiga will cost more as it has 1.4litre engine and its length is > 4m. So according to new budget it cost more

@ akhil. The plastics in punto especially rake and seat adjust feels flimsy but it will last long. It's an issue pointed by all but seldom saw owner's with broken rake adjusts.

Yea, wanted to surprise. [;)] My way of thought was different from yours. As our monthly runs are quite similar, even i felt diesel was not necessary. But, going for a diesel makes sense if it costs pretty much around the cost the petrol car.
What i thought was, if i go for punto,
*car was available at the point i booked.
*running costs would be low.
*massive discounts
on road cost (Emotion) was 7.54 - (free insurance + RSA +exchange bonus + corporate offer)= 7.2
and would get accessories.
Yes, i had to sacrifice the awesome spacious Jazz. But still, i think its worth it.
*the resale value would be less but pretty much as that of a petrol car( as diesel has more resale)

I just hope its not a bad decision.

Bossa Nova White. I am not a big fan of white, but punto looks stunning in that.

Hi
Sure Punto looks awesome in Bossa Nova White. Actually Punto is a driver's car and it's spacious for 4 people but lacks those awesome space optimization compared to Jazz. But its diesel mill with lot of torque, good steering feedback, mature ride quality, high speed behavior and Sexy Styling . Enjoy the ride and expecting an ownership report soon.
Actually its difficult to drive Punto in a sedative manner and now days i don't even look to mileage indicator instead just enjoying the car with more and more kms

The thing was, the rake lever issue sort of gave Dad a -ve impression on the quality. He actually likes fiat a lot , but many of his friends asked him not to take Punto(Dunno why?) , his first car is a fiat padmini. If i start arguing, Mom will say , the car is for him. So, he will choose [:D]. Ertiga is sort of a confusion. Lets see.

Who said Punto is a bad decision. Its actually the best hot hatch in the country, after Polo 1.6. We just dropped it because, my Dad didn't liked it, as i posted above. Else we would have gone for it. Resale value will be good too. Fiat's A.S.S. will improve over the years, with Fiat splitting from Tata's showrooms. This Tata JV is what is making the situation worse for Fiat. Once my cousin visited Mohandas motors to look Punto and the SA sort of concluded Punto is not a good choice for Kerala roadsand Vista is better.[anger]

Punto looks sexy in almost every colour, except Silver i think. But, the Oceanic blue was a good color(BTW, I like dark blue very much). Atleast it would have made yours look a 2012 model.[;)] Waiting for your ownership report.

Same happens for me also. But i went for what i felt The hangover of fiat UNO days is still there and do you think the people who commented fiat was bad ever drives a fiat. In TVM i heard some positive reviews about Mohandas and Kulathunkal ASS in fiat forums.

Yes. Its a good color. I liked Tuscan wine more than that. But since my current santro is pretty much the similar color, i opted against it. Parents dint like the oceanic blue. Everyone loved BNW equally. (I have attached a pic in the previous page [:)] ) So, went for it. I am a big fan of the grey color, but grey, silver looks dull in Punto.

Expecting delivery in 1-2 days. [:D]

It was the opposite for me. My dad's 3 friends have Punto and 1 of them have Linea. So they recommended. So, wasn't difficult convincing.

Hi
Problem with tuscan wine is it is difficult to maintain clean, dust is easily visible. Problem with all dark colors
In my case it's our (me and wife's) friends who are against the Punto. They advice me for Polo (choice for brand conscious youngster's), Maruti (national brand), i20, fabia. Not even one adviced me for Punto. But they admitted that they never drove a punto. After travelling and driving in my car they love punto for its ride quality and handling (they are now punto fans)

Nithin, i agree with you. Many of them might not have even entered or driven punto. What they will say instead is ' their friends have punto and so on'. Some say the issue with resale value like Anand mentioned. Dad actually likes the thick 195 section tyres of Punto emotion. Btw, Nithin, how is the cost of parts and maintanance costs of fiat? Same like Maruti ?

Regarding Mohandas , i heard positive reviews. One of my bestfriend has Manza and says service is pretty good. When i went to Mohandad, SA asked me why we are looking 90hp. Said we are interested in performance. He suddenly said to go for 1.4 and said its a good performer and he even said he can get us T-jet by 8L . That seems to be a very good deal, compared to City and Fiesta, if only we can afford petrol.

It was the opposite for me. My dad's 3 friends have Punto and 1 of them have Linea. So they recommended. So, wasn't difficult convincing.
Oh.. Then, what made you to initially opt for jazz? Btw, you wont get any excise / road tax hike na ?

From the price of the spare parts SA showed me, i think it's comparable to maruti, even some parts prices are less than Maruti. Thanks for the localization and JV with TATA.
T-Jet for 8 lakhs !! Awesome deal.

Mohandas got some nice reviews from the owner's of Punto/Linea. The problem with Kulathunkal by some owner's was that they reached their maximum capacity.

i think 75 bhp is enough for our daily needs like city riding and high way cruising . The 0 - 100 km/hr timings are almost same for 75 bhp and 90 bhp. But performance measures solely on the 0 - 100km/hr will distort the entire scenario. In gear acceleration of Punto 75 hp is better than even Swift. I think in real word driving this matters most than the crude, drag racing timing of 0 - 100.
1.4 is a performer with rev friendly and refined engine. It can easily cruise in 140 with much ease. i think it can go up to 160 but not yet floored so far. The main advantage with Punto is in cornering, we can fume even sedans. The 2nd gear pulls from 10 kph all the way to 80 kph with ease and i think its pretty easy to drive in city also.
