Re: Alto LXi - Cheapness of Maruti Suzuki

This was the reply given by a Maruti SA to my friend's wife when she enquired why there is no keyhole on the passenger side of an Alto (which she had purchased):

"Madam, this is for security. If there is no keyhole, then no theif can break-in frrom the passenger side!"

[clap]
Which means their own 20 Lac Kizashi is not as secured as their 2 Lac Alto!

2-No alloy wheel for the 5th tyre. (eg. Punto)
Every Eurpoean car is like this. Maruti, VW, Skoda, Hyundai, Honda, everyone does the same.

4-Every music enthusiastic has to upgrade the company fitted stereo,no matter of which brand the car is,
Not every car owner is an ICE freak, so the manufacturer cant invest thousands of rupees in ICE and make their car more expensive than their competitor. Anybody who is not too keen on ICE will opt for the cheaper competitor's car anyways.

6-Less powerful headlamps.
Its an ARAI rule, the manufacturer cane help it.

Re: Alto LXi - Cheapness of Maruti Suzuki

Even my Ertiga doesn't have a co-passenger side key hole.
In my other cars(which I had or have), I rarely opened them with the key and that too when there was fault in central locking.

But Swift, Ertiga and Dzire have the 5th tyre with alloys.

And I agree for the sound system, So if Tata started installing HARMAN sound systems in their cars, car's cost will increase easily like 10-20K?
Or they will just install them in their premium cars, like Jaguar,Aria etc.

even my Civic doesnt have co-passenger side key hole. but Xylo does have the co-passenger key hole.
My Fiesta does not have it either. For that matter, almost none of the new models have it. Also, it’s hardly required as long as the car is equipped with keyless entry.

Paint, especially in B segment hatches, there is price difference between metallic & non-metallic. Heck, which age are they living in ? [anger]

its 4000 [:D] they have to keep the difference , 4000 matters a lot to some people.
Wagon R Lxi costs just tad over 4L on-road in Pune. The 4k amount is not even 1% of total cost, not to forget the advantages of metallic color which will be there till you keep the car. Saving 4k maybe short term gain but surely long term loss.

Poor metal sheet is another common cost-cutting method in small cars. In Liva it is ridiculously cheap. Twisting the key on the door (to lock / unlock) bends the door metal as well.

You can add maruti and Honda too(amaze especially) but what they did for ethos is not sensible. Imo Toyota lost some reputation by bringing el cheapo etios to India. It is a question of safety too

IMO 'Bluetooth' has to be included as standard feature in all variants (all cars). But some manufacturers like Maruti ignore it even in top (ZDI / ZXI) variants.

Yes, this I miss in my Ertiga ZDI model,Bluetooth should be must and I end up in spending 6k to buy Zabra Freeway. I believe, many Indian customer will not mind paying extra 10-20k even 40K if the car has company fitted utilities like Bluetooth, reverse parking sensor and class music system with display and which can read all the formats. At least these standard accessories should optional.

I beg your pardon here.
I do not think except Alto / 800...other cars from maruti has poor metal sheet.
Even the small A-star have a good metal sheet in the class.
Swift / Ertiga / SX4 all of them has at least a good metal sheet. Though the rattling issue is there. But I do not think it is due to the metal sheet.
