we turned back to Amritsar dejected as we were unable to witness the ceremony at Waga. we almost ran over a lady who cooly strolled in front of our vehicle talking over a mobile. she didn't even notice our car.
next we went to see the jalianwala bag.at the car park we were made to buy head scarves for entering into the golden. it was a real emotional occasion. i had wanted to see the place since childhood. saw the narrow entrance which had stopped General Dyer from bringing the armoured vehicle with the machine gun into the ground. saw the martyrs well. i had thought that it was a shallow well. but it was really deep. think of the poor people who had jumped into the well to save themselves from gen. Dyers bullets.paid homage to all the martyrs and went to see the Golden temple.

bid adieu to the beautiful city of Amritsar on 4/6/13 at 9.30 am. was feeling very tired after last days hectic schedule. Also me and my daughter caught diarrhoea. we popped in pills. We lost our apetite. just beyond the outskirts of the city we saw a car wash run by two boys. they did a good job in half an hour.and asked only for INR 100[surprise].

We had lunch from a non veg hotel by the Dal lake.Next we went to see the sankaracharya temple. its atop a small hill. At the base there is a check post where we were asked to get down and the vehicle checked. the driver had to register his name and show the drivers license. next we drove around the Dal lake enjoying its beauty.

Hey Smooth Rider, When I started following the thread I wanted you to quickly reach the Leh portion and was sure that from your home town to the icy heights will take a long time which might NOT be very interesting compared to the Ladakh activities of the Storm.

But the way you have narrated through the pictures and your eye for details has actually made this a very interesting read (viewing) even before you have reached the destination. Like the daughter getting down to stop his father from hitting the kid, the two wheeler with a trailer, you having mangoes all have captured the mood perfectly. It has taken us along with you in the ride,

A five star rating from my side sir, even before you have reached Leh. Am sure if the forum had it, I would have added 2 more once you reach Leh.

thanks for the encouragement chandra. the daughter actualy brought back her father after he had slapped the boy on the face once and the boy was seen pleading with folded hands. felt sad for the boy as he had done nothing intentionaly. if it had happened in kerala the father would have got back what he had given to the boy.
