I came little late to this thread, but most interesting thread with more than 28 pages of response till date. The responses to this thread indicate the rating of its content. Worth more than 5 Stars. This could be a reference thread to many. This also fascinate others to follow, including me. AR Ram on the way.

After reading so far, me too have a feeling of being there. The contents attracts me to visit this place. I wish to visit this palace.

Yes. The three experts on roads are
1) Yogesh sarkar @ BCM touring
2) Dheeraj sharma @devilonwheels.com
3) Humbleh'd 1 indopolsh himalayan expedition by HVK and co.

I too agree with you. Nice to know that your vehicle performed all the way.

I couldn't see the pics as I'm reading logged in through the mobile app. I dono why they are not getting loaded. but seriously just loved the log. keep going and eagerly waiting for Tlog in future. so any other trip in near future?

how the route was finalized -
1) read lots of travelogues from various sites, got inputs from experts
2)started an itinerary on TAI - got inputs from members
3)used google maps
4)calculated the average speed possible and set stop/ stay points
5)conversed with local people & fellow travelers on the road

Really amazed to read such a terrific travelogue with so many details and to back it a beautiful taken photographs. I'm from Kannur and feel proud to know that people from down South do take up such long endurance journeys which was well planned and to top it all a Doctor and a Lawyer. Fantastic. I'll surely try and meet you when I come on leave this time. A wealth of information is shared for all future people needing to take up this epic journey. God Bless you all and yes your family that has stood with you.

SR, got an update a few days back that the Inner Line Permit is no longer required for the popular places. Only permission for places like Chusul, Hanle and those which are closer to the LAC needs to obtained from the DC office.. [;)]

Wonderful Travelogue sir. I too travelled from JK to Srinagar in 1999 in a rental Omni. Views were mind blowing; I can see the same through your pictures. I was interested to travel to LEH at that time, but my studies made me to stay back at Srinagar. It’s been 14 years now, never visited that place yet. Every time I plan for a trip from kanyakumari to Leh, one or the other will hold me back. Planning to take my Muscular boy to LEH next year by Jul/August, when I visit India. Your inputs will be of real help for me at that time.

This is awesome travelogue Doctor sir. I finished reading the travelogue in one go. Your narration with excellent pictures took me along your journey. Love the pictures with highlights.

Appreciate your courage, determination and physical fitness to endure such a long difficult terrain trip at 56. Kudos to your wife and kids. Certainly your lawyer friend as well.

Ladakh is in my plan. I need to get the right vehicle as my VW Vento cannot cope up the demands of the terrain. Have you seen Renault Duster in Ladakh circuity during you trip? Will reach out to you if I am close to finalizing the trip.

Need your suggestion doctor, can a person with Asthma travel to Ladakh at all? If yes, what precaution should one take?

Looking forward to your Sikkim & Bhutan travelogue [:D]
