its the same laws appus , but we are not well versed in it and the police men try to make up a bribe from our ignorance / our reluctance to fight it out with them. once on a trip to goa the police men at the check post made me pay inr 50 even though all my papers were perfect, saying that its an entry fee. but no receipt was given.

Now, the lawlessness and bribe have become a part of constitution. any body can break the law and get away with it.

Suresh's company had helped you in lot in issues like this. I feel, the presence of a doctor and lawyer lawyer in a trip like this, can solve almost all the issues. Only a mechanic is lacking. Then, I feel it will be completely hassle free

yes ramji this was also said by an elderly couple from calcutta whom we met at the hotel de zojila, in kargil. they were two retired professors in their seventies. the lady had asthma and was wheezing right from srinagar as i was told. she were administered medications from army centers. their companions had returned back from srinagar as one of them had fallen sick, on knowing our professions the gentleman commented as to we being a perfect combination.i had examined the lady and gave her some medicines that i was carrying.

19-06-2013 we drove on and reached about 200 kms away from mangalore by 3 am. me and suresh were dead tired to drive any further so stopped the car by a restaurant which was open. we parked the car and had a sleep till 6 am when we again hit the road by 6 am. we rented a room i think at honavar and freshened up. had breakfast from there and rode on. we reached suresh's home by 3.30 pm. we had a tasty lunch of rice, chicken curry ( kerala style ) pappadam, cabbage upperi and mango pickle. i reached my home by 4 pm.

Wow. Great to see some KA registrations & kannada letters. It feels you are so close to your home.
Veeranjaneya temple in Kumbla (kasaragod, kerala) is the one which people do not miss while traveling. I too started driving from Kasaragod back to Bangalore after offering prayers. Feels good :)

By the way. Another Happy Ending :) ! Congratulations again for doing this wonderful trip. Thank you for taking us literally thru the places. Thank You Doctor

Thank you for sharing the trip's expense statement.

How about the toll, parking, permit at Leh etc. and any other misc. expense?

ramji i had skipped the toll as the amount wasn't perfectly documented by wifey. as i was driving it was her department.inner line permit was INR 700/ but the lady there swindled INR 1000 so it was 1700/ for us. parking fees were negligible. so also the money for the tickets to various places like the jalianwala bag were all minimal. well the total would reach about 1.3 lakh INR.
