we drove on. we had noodles for lunch at chumathang . nearing korzok there was no road. it was wide open plains. we saw a small beautiful lake. we thought it to be tso moriri. but the map corrected us . it was tso kiagar. there were tents of nomads on its banks we made our own road and pushed on. we missed the cut to korzok and drove on the road to chumur. the gps was showing that we were going parlalel to the road to tso moriri. there was no one to ask for directions . after some time we saw an army personnel who told us that the tent camp was on the other side of the lake and we did a u turn. lost nearly 45 mints[frustration]

we reached the site of the tents by 6pm. went directly to the camp and got the tent. we had booked our accommodation from leh through sonam. we were given 400 inr discount. we had tea and went to the banks of the lake and spent some time there till the light faded and the cold became unbearable. we shutterd down our storm by blocking the grills with news paper as i felt that the cold would cause starting trouble in the morning. we were served dinner by 8pm. there were lots of guests.but all were plain tired and were not in a mood for talks. and the cold was unbearable. soon after dinner we retired to the tents. we had a restless night as the cold seeped in.[frustration]

more from tso moriri................
Once again good pictures and crisp narration. The buffet location looks great particularly inside the tent.

we can imagine how freezing it would be inside during night in that region. But now when you look back you will feel pleasant with the memories.

What was the tariff for the tent? Was it comfortable?

Thank you SR for the information. Getting an accommodation by the lake side is really great. And tent accommodation is something different and unique. Do you have any tent interior picture to post? if possible.

While we were there, we managed to strike a deal for 500/- for 3 of us for a proper house with wooden flooring and roof. And of-course we knew tents are not a good place to sleep in that kind of cold. [lol]

What a travelogue! How did I miss it? I am going through the pages since last one hour. Thought of putting my comments before I read any further. You're lucky that your family too is in with your passion. Great pics.

Loved the lunch spot at Chumathang.

How far will be the nearest night accommodation. Because lazing around in that joint in late afternoon / early evening would be blissful specially when it has a bar attached and in that locale.

Driving after that NOT advised, so a night halt.
