80K Kia vehicles recalled due to faulty air bag deployment, wiring concerns

Kia has recalled more than 80,000 Niro electric and hybrid vehicles because of possible airbag and seat belt issues.

The recalled 2023-2025 Kia Niro EV, Kia Niro Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) and Kia Niro Hybrid vehicles are equipped with floor wiring beneath the front passenger seats that may become damaged.

A damaged floor wiring harness can prevent the front airbags and seat belts from deploying properly, or cause an unintended side curtain airbag deployment.

Kia found that repeated sliding adjustments of the manual front passenger seats can damage the wires in the floor wiring assemblies due to the different ways the wiring is routed.

A Kia Niro driver should watch for illuminated airbag warning lights.

Kia Niro recall letters are expected to be mailed March 14, 2025, and dealers will possibly replace and reroute the floor wiring assemblies. Dealers will also install covers over the wiring.

Honda recalls nearly 295K Honda, Acura vehicles for risk of engine stall, power loss

Honda is recalling nearly 295,000 Honda and Acura vehicles that could potentially suffer engine stalls or loss of power from faulty software.

In total, 294,612 of the automaker’s 2023-2025 Honda Pilot sport utility vehicles (SUVs), 2022-2025 Acura MDX Type-S SUVs and 2021-2025 Acura TLX Type-S sedans are subject to the Jan. 23 recall addressing the improperly programmed software in the fuel injection electronic control units, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall report.

Honda said "sudden changes in the throttle could illuminate the check engine light and cause the engine to lose drive power, hesitate and/or stall" because of the software.

Honda explained it was "announcing this recall to encourage owners of affected vehicles to take them to an authorized dealer for repair as soon as they receive notification."

The problem has not resulted in any injuries or accidents as of Jan. 16, the recall report said. Staff at authorized Honda and Acura dealerships will "reprogram" the FI-ECU with software that "contains the proper correction control logic settings" at no cost to owners, the report said.

Subaru recalls 2025 Forester over faulty wheels

A Subaru Forester recall involves more than 20,000 SUVs equipped with 18 inch aluminum alloy wheels manufactured by Kosei. The wheel recall affects only 2025 Subaru Foresters equipped with those specific 18 inch wheels.

Subaru says Kosei may have produced the 18 inch aluminum alloy wheels with the wrong lug seat surfaces. This means a loss of vehicle control if the wheels are not attached correctly.

Subaru found the wheel problem during the wheel fastening process on the assembly line. Kosei and Subaru opened an investigation which determined certain Forester wheels had been built with the wrong lug seat surfaces.

By December 24, 2024, Subaru's engineers confirmed the 18 inch wheels didn't meet the automaker's internal safety standards. Subaru decided to recall the 2025 Foresters out of an "abundance of caution."

Subaru Forester recall letters are expected to be mailed March 24, 2025. Dealers will inspect the 18 inch aluminum alloy wheels to determine if they should be replaced.

Toyota recalls certain 2024-2025MY Toyota Tacoma 4-Wheel drive trucks

oyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain MY 2024-25 Tacoma 4-wheel drive vehicles equipped with 16-inch brakes and 17-inch Toyota wheels in North America, Central and South America, and other regions/countries. Approximately 106,000 vehicles are involved in the recall for the U.S.

The rear brake hoses in the subject vehicles can be damaged over time if there is enough build-up of mud and dirt inside the rear wheels from operating under certain off-road conditions. This can result in a brake fluid leak, increasing the risk of crash.

For all involved vehicles, Toyota dealers will replace both rear brake hoses with improved ones at no charge to customers.

Toyota will notify customers by early April 2025.

Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is current as of today’s filing date and is subject to change thereafter. To see if your vehicle is involved in a safety recall visit Toyota.com/recall or nhtsa.gov/recalls and enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or license plate information.

For any additional questions, Toyota customer support is also available by calling the Toyota Brand Engagement Center (1-800-331-4331).

Toyota recalls certain Toyota and Lexus vehicles

Toyota is conducting a noncompliance safety recall involving certain 25MY Toyota Camry and Lexus NX, and certain 24-25MY Lexus RX vehicles in North America. Approximately 41,000 vehicles are involved in the recall for the U.S.

The second-row center seatbelt of the subject vehicles may have been damaged during manufacturing. This may cause the seatbelt to not meet certain strength requirements. If an occupant is belted in the second-row center seat with a damaged seatbelt, it may increase the risk of injury during certain crashes.

Toyota and Lexus dealers will inspect the second-row center seatbelt webbing and if necessary, replace the seatbelt assembly, free of charge.

For all involved vehicles, Toyota will notify customers by early April 2025.

Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is current as of today’s filing date and is subject to change thereafter. To see if your vehicle is involved in a safety recall visit Toyota.com/recall, Lexus.com/recall, or nhtsa.gov/recalls and enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or license plate information.

For any additional questions, Toyota customer support is also available by calling the Toyota Brand Engagement Center (1-800-331-4331) for Toyota vehicles, or the Lexus Guest Experience Center at 1.800.255.3987 for Lexus vehicles.

GM recalls the GMC Sierra because Grille pieces could fly off

General Motors has a small problem with grilles on the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup truck. The grille deflector—the top part of the grille surround—can unexpectedly detach. Parts flying off vehicles obviously creates a safety issue, which prompted a recall of 70,768 trucks.

Specifically, the problem affects the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 equipped with chrome grilles. According to recall documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there could be defects in the fasteners that hold this section of the grille in place. There are eight attachment points, all of which could fracture. Should all of them break, the deflector can come off. The trim piece may appear loose and rattle before it ultimately exits the scene.

The recall further specifies 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 pickups built after the mild facelift it received that year. At this time, the recall doesn't extend beyond 2022. It also doesn't apply to trucks that have grilles other than chrome. An exact reason for the attachment points fracturing isn't given.

A GM employee initially notified the company of a possible problem after getting a complaint from a customer. An initial investigation was opened in early 2024 but closed approximately one month later because "no defect trend was identified.
