Honda recalls certain CR-V SUV's over missing Tire information

Honda has recalled more than 1,700 CR-V SUVs because the tire identification numbers are missing the four-digit date codes.

The recalled 2024 Honda CR-Vs may continue to be driven when they shouldn't if owners cannot identify a tire involved in a recall.

The supplier, Hankook Tire, contacted Honda about tires that were produced without the four-digit tire identification number date codes.

Dealers will inspect the tires and replace them if needed.

Honda CR-V recall letters are expected to be mailed August 12, 2024.

Stellantis recalls 332,000 vehicles over faulty seat belt sensor

Stellantis is recalling 332,000 Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Jeep vehicles because sensors on their seat belt connectors are not working properly.

The recall covers the following vehicles made by Stellantis:
  • Alfa Romeo Giulia, model years 2017-2024
  • Alfa Romeo Stelvio, model years 2018-2025
  • Fiat 500E, model year 2024
  • Fiat 500X, model years 2019-2023
  • Jeep Renegade, model years 2019-2023
Stellantis said it has received 578 reports about the faulty sensor as of June 26, but isn't aware of any accidents or injuries related to the issue.

"A seat belt buckle switch sensor may be improperly connected, preventing the front seat air bag from deploying as intended," Stellantis said in recall documents filed with the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The faulty sensors were installed in the vehicles between September 2016 and June 2024. Stellantis said it will fix the sensor issue for free for owners "by directly wiring the sensor to the harness with a solder tube." Owners must take their vehicle to a local dealership for the repairs, according to the company.

Alfa Romeo, Fiat or Jeep owners who need the repair will be notified by Stellantis by mail around August 22. Owners that have already paid for repairs for the sensor issue can be reimbursed by Stellantis after submitting the original receipt of the service, the company said.

Owners with questions about the recall can contact Fiat Chrysler Automobiles at (800) 853-1403 and give reference number 82B. Owners can also contact NHTSA (888) 327-4236.

The seat belt sensor is the latest in a series of recalls for Stellantis this year. Last month, the automaker recalled almost 1.2 million vehicles in the U.S. and Canada to fix a software glitch that can disable the rearview cameras. The recall covered Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep and Ram pickup trucks and SUVs.

In March, Stellantis also recalled thousands of Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 cars because of a manufacturing defect that could cause airbags to rupture, spraying metal fragments around the cabin. In February, the company recalled more than 338,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees because of a ball joint issue that could result in a loss of control by the driver, potentially leading to a crash.

Stellantis was formed in 2021 when Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles formally merged with France's Groupe PSA. Stellantis also produces Chrysler, Dodge and Ram Truck vehicles in the U.S. along with a number of foreign brands, including Citroën, Opel and Peugeot.

Hyundai recalls 67,000 vehicles due to fuel pump issues, software errors

Hyundai is recalling approximately 67,000 vehicles.

The callbacks are the result of two separate recalls. The first recall includes 54,000 recent Genesis, Elantra, Kona and Veloster models. They have fuel pumps that could fail and cause the vehicle to stop moving.

The second recall is for more than 12,000 2024 Santa Fe models. A software error in their transmissions could cause the vehicle to roll away when it is in park.

Affected owners of both recalls will be notified by September 9 for free fixes.

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV recalled over Rollaway risk

More than 13,100 Hyundai Santa Fe SUVs are recalled because they can roll away even when the gear shifters are in PARK. The recalled 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe transmission control units may have software errors.

According to Hyundai, the Santa Fe dual clutch transmission can be damaged because software errors can engage the clutch and damage the transmission case and parking pawl.

A Santa Fe driver should be aware of noise from the parking pawl, problems shifting into PARK or other gears and any vehicle movement when parked.
About 800 Santa Fe SUVs are recalled in Canada.

Hyundai Santa Fe transmission recall letters will be mailed September 9, 2024. Hyundai dealers will update the transmission control unit software and possibly replace the dual clutch transmissions.

Hyundai's transmission recall number is 263.

BMW recalls nearly 300,000 SUVs over interior cargo rail issues

BMW is recalling more than 291,000 SUVs in the U.S. because the interior cargo rails can detach in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

The recall covers certain X3 SUVs from the 2018 through 2023 model years.

The company says in documents posted by U.S. safety regulators that dealers will replace the rear cargo rail bolts that attach to the vehicle body. The company expects to notify owners by letter starting Aug. 30.

BMW says in documents posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that in rare cases the attachment to the body could be damaged.

The documents say BMW found out about the problem in August of 2022 after an “extreme rear crash” involving a 2022 BMW X3. BMW was served with legal documents in the case in March of this year, when it was able to inspect the SUV.

The documents don't say whether anyone has been injured due to the problem. A message was left Wednesday seeking comment from BMW.

Toyota will replace over 100,000 faulty engines in the Tundra and Lexus LX

A Toyota V35A engine replacement recall involves about 112,000 Toyota Tundra trucks and Lexus LX600 SUVs because the main bearings can fail from machining debris left in the engines.

Toyota and Lexus first announced the basics of the V35A engine recall in May, but engineers had not decided what to do about the problem.

Today, Toyota and Lexus announced all the 2022-2023 Toyota Tundra and Lexus LX600 V35A engines will be replaced.

According to the V35A engine replacement recall, the trucks and SUVs are equipped with specific V35A engines that contain crankshaft main bearings which allow the crankshafts to rotate within the engine assemblies.

The problem occurred during a specific period when engine machining debris may not have been cleaned from the V35A engines during manufacturing of the engines. The crankshaft main bearings can fail if there is debris and it sticks to the bearings while the engine is running.

A Toyota Tundra or Lexus LX600 driver may hear the V35A engine knocking or notice it's not running properly. Then the V35A engine can fail and stall while driving, including at high speeds.

About 10,000 V35A engine replacements will occur in Canada.

With questions about the Toyota Tundra engine replacement recall, please call 800-331-4331, or Lexus LX600 owners with questions about the V35A engine replacement recall may call 800-331-4331.

Owners should ask about engine replacement recall numbers 24TB07/24TA07 or 24LB04/24LA04.

1.8 million Tesla models recalled over Hood-Latch problem

On certain Tesla models, there's a chance that a software issue might prevent the vehicle from detecting a hood that's not fully latched. The worst-case scenario is that the hood flies open while the car is driving down the road and obstructs the view ahead. And if you can't see the road, the odds of getting in a crash obviously increase.

This defect is pretty widespread too, with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reporting that 1,849,638 Tesla models could be affected. The list of recalled Teslas include the Model S (2021 to 2024 model years), the Model 3 (2021 to '24), the Model X (2021 to '24), and the Model Y (2020 to '24). The Cybertruck was not included in the recall.

While the amount of Tesla models affected by the recall is in the millions, the good news is that none of them have to be taken in for physical service. Instead, Tesla says the faulty hood-latch-detection software can be fixed with a free over-the-air update that the automaker has released.

Owners will be notified with a letter in the mail by September 22, 2024. They can also check the Tesla customer service website or the NHTSA recalls website to see if their vehicle is affected.

Hyundai recalls about 50,000 vehicles over electrical wiring faults linked to airbag failures

Hyundai has recalled nearly 50,000 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Hybrid SUVs because the airbags may not deploy in crash impacts, or the airbags may suddenly deploy for no reason.

The recalled 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) may have problems with the main floor wiring harnesses. Those floor wiring harnesses may chafe against the passenger-side second-row bench seat assemblies and become damaged. This is what can cause airbag failures in crashes and inadvertent airbag deployments without crashes.

A 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe rear seat side airbag deployment in South Korea got the attention of Hyundai in April. A South Korea and North America investigation was opened by the automaker so engineers could track down the problem.

Hyundai determined the main floor wiring harness could become damaged, something that caused eight incidents but no crashes or injuries. Hyundai Santa Fe recall letters are expected to be mailed September 23, 2024.

Santa Fe drivers should watch for illuminated airbag warning lights. A Hyundai dealer will secure the floor wire harness or replace any damaged harness.
