Hyundai Elantra recalled due to airbag fault

Hyundai Australia has issued a recall of 28 examples of its Elantra with Model Years from 2008 to 2009 (MY08-MY09), due to a potentially dangerous airbag issue.

The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says "if the airbag inflator ruptures during airbag deployment, metal fragments may propel towards the vehicle occupants at high speeds".

It goes on to say the airbag may also under-inflate in an accident.

The faulty airbag modules are being replaced by Hyundai free-of-charge under the recall.

The problem is not related to the fatal Takata airbag recall.

Duralast master cylinder recall issued for VW vehicles

A Duralast brake master cylinder recall has been issued because more than 2,400 master cylinders may cause a complete loss of braking.

The Duralast NM4222 and NM55381 master cylinders, recalled by Motor Parts of America (MPA), were sold as aftermarket replacement parts for these VW models.

• 2012-2017 Volkswagen Beetle
• 2005-2018 Volkswagen Jetta
• 2007-2010 Volkswagen Jetta GLI

A driver may lose the brakes if the piston pops out of the master cylinder housing, and the opposite could occur when the brakes activate without the driver touching the pedal.

Prior to total master cylinder failure, the driver may experience some loss of braking power due to brake fluid leaking from the master cylinder.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the crimping of the aluminum housing may not be strong enough, allowing the master cylinder piston to pop out of the housing.

Genesis G70 Cars recalled for risk of stalled Engines

Model year 2021 Genesis G70 cars equipped with 2-liter GDI engines are recalled because the fuel pump jet nozzles may have plastic burrs remaining from the manufacturing process.

This will cause the nozzles to become blocked and cut off the fuel supply to the engines, causing the engines to stall.

Genesis dealerships will repair the fuel pump assembly jet nozzles when the recall begins November 13, 2020.

Nissan Titan recall ordered over LED headlights

A Nissan Titan recall has been issued for 82 model year 2019 Titan trucks equipped with LED headlights because the lights may have the wrong aiming marks.

This can cause a technician to incorrectly aim the headlights when the truck is serviced. The problem also causes a violation of federal safety standards.

The 2019 Nissan Titan LED headlight recall should begin October 20, 2020. Nissan dealers will replace the headlight assemblies if needed.

Nissan Titan owners with questions should call Nissan at 800-867-7669.

Nissan's number for this recall is PC751.

2019 Honda Odyssey recalled over seatbelt assembly fault

Honda Australia has issued a recall for 36 examples of its model-year 2019 Honda Odyssey people mover, citing a fault with the rear seat belt assembly.

According to the recall notice, which was lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), incorrect manufacturing of the rear seat belt assembly could see the webbing sensor in the third row left-rear seat belt become inoperative.

Honda says if the particular seat belt sensor fails to engage during a crash, a proper restraint may not be provided, increasing the risk of an injury to occupants.

2020 Ford Mustang Recalled over Brake Problem

Ford has announced a recall of the 2020 Mustang to fix the brake-pedal bracket assembly. The issue affects 38,005 automatic-transmission vehicles and could cause the bracket to fracture during "sudden stopping," increasing the possibility of a crash.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)'s recall report states that the affected vehicles were produced from March 4, 2019, through August 13, 2020. The report says no accidents or injuries have been reported as a result of the problem but that there have been six reports of breakage during sudden braking. NHTSA said the problem is traced to the use of polypropylene brake-pedal brackets instead of nylon, which "resulted in reduced robustness to spike-stop loading."

Ford will begin notifying owners on November 15 and will replace the problem bracket free of charge. Mustang owners can check the NHTSA recalls website to see if their vehicle is one of those being recalled.

Ford Recalls More Than 600,000 Vehicles over Rearview Cameras

Ford announced today that it will recall 620,246 vehicles built in U.S. assembly plants between October and November 2019 and May to June 2020. All are 2020 models. The problem is a malfunctioning rearview camera that could leave a blank screen or a distorted image. Ford said it will replace the cameras and will start notifying dealers and customers on November 7.

The problem is a poor electrical connection, according to the recall notice posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website. Affected vehicles are 2020 models of the Ford Escape, Expedition, and Explorer; the Ford Edge, Mustang, and Transit; and the Ford F-150, Super Duty, and Ranger pickups. The Lincoln Corsair, MKX, and Nautilus are also included.

All Polestar 2s Recalled for Software Glitch That Can Shut Down the EV

The Polestar 2 has only been on the road for a few months around the world, and it's already experiencing some new-car issues. The Volvo- and Geely-owned electric-vehicle startup has recalled all 2189 Polestar 2 cars after several vehicles lost power while driving.

Owners of Polestar 2s have been informed by the automaker to take their vehicles to a local service center to have the vehicle's software updated to solve the issue.

Hyundai Kona Electric Recalled in South Korea and US over Potential Fire Danger

Reuters reports that South Korea's transport ministry and Hyundai have issued a recall of 25,564 Hyundai Kona Electric vehicles in that country built between September 2017 and March 2020. Starting on October 16, the vehicles in question will be inspected and their software updated and battery packs replaced.

The recall is in response to 13 unexplained Kona Electric fires worldwide, including one in Canada, of more than 100,000 vehicles sold. Neither Hyundai nor LG Chem, the maker of the battery cells, has concluded what is causing the fires. LG Chem says that both companies have conducted experiments to determine what is causing the combustion but have yet to re-create the scenario. It's suspected that there is a possible short circuit occurring due to faulty manufacturing of the cells.

2007-2012 Dodge Nitro, 2008-2010 Chrysler Grand Voyager recalled due for airbag cover fix

Fiat Chrysler Australia has issued a recall of 5464 examples of the 2007-2012 Dodge Nitro and the 2008-2010 Chrysler Grand Voyager, due to a loose airbag emblem.

The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says the loose airbag emblem may "become a projectile and propel towards the vehicle occupants causing serious injury".

Affected examples of the Dodge Nitro and Chrysler Grand Voyager were sold between 1 March 2006 and 1 January 2014. Fiat Chrysler Australia is contacting owners to organise a free fix.

The brand says there are no known instances of the issue affecting Australian owners, and the recall is a precautionary measure.

BMW recalls multiple plug-in hybrid models

BMW has issued a widespread recall for all of its plug-in hybrid vehicles due to an issue with their battery packs. The list of affected models includes the X1, X2, X3 and X5 SUVs, the 3, 5 and 7 Series saloons, the 2 Series Active Tourer, the i8 and the MINI Countryman.

The recall applies to any of these PHEV models that were built between 20 January and 18 September this year – and BMW estimates that roughly 26,700 vehicles have been affected worldwide, 2,930 of which are currently registered to UK buyers.

Tesla model Y SUVS recalled over trailer brake lights

A Tesla Model Y recall has been issued for more than 2,900 vehicles equipped with global rear lamps (part numbers 1502086-00-A, 1502087-00-A, 1502088-00-A and 1502089-00-A). The Model Y vehicles are also equipped with tow packages, but Tesla says the trailer brake lights may fail due to software errors.

In August, Tesla received an appointment request for a Model Y customer who reported their trailer brake lights weren't working. An appointment was scheduled for September 17th. However, the day before the appointment, Tesla found problems with the brake lights during trailer testing, but engineers didn't know what caused the problem.

The automaker opened an investigation while creating firmware release 2020.36.12, which will be carried forward in firmware releases 2020.40.3 and later.

About 2,560 Model Y vehicles are recalled in the U.S. and another 342 vehicles are recalled in Canada.

Tesla Recalls 30,000 U.S.-Made Model S, X EVs in China for Suspension Issues

Tesla is recalling a total of 29,193 U.S.-made Model S and Model X vehicles that were exported to China, according to a statement from the China State Administration for Market Regulation. The vehicles, built between September 17, 2013, and January 15, 2018, have potentially faulty front and rear suspensions. After large impacts, the connecting rods may become damaged, leading to an accident if the suspension fails. The vehicles were all produced at Tesla's plant in Fremont, California.

Totota fuel pump recall expanded to 5.8 million vehicles

A Toyota fuel pump recall has been expanded to include more than 5.8 million vehicles worldwide, with more than 3.3 million of those vehicles recalled in the U.S. and nearly 284,000 recalled in Canada.

Included in the original January recall, an expanded March recall and this newly expanded Toyota fuel pump recall are these models.

Volvo recalls XC60 SUV with potential windshield wiper fault

Volvo Australia has issued a recall on 9388 examples of the XC60 SUV, noting “the front windshield wiper arm nut was not tightened sufficiently during manufacturing”.

The affected vehicles are Model Years 2018-2020, and were sold between 1 September 2017 and 27 August 27 2020.

The recall notice, lodged with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), says “if the front windshield wiper becomes loose, it may cause an unusual noise if the windshield wiper arm should contact the edge of the bonnet.

“This could lead to reduced or no wiping function which reduces visibility and could increase the risk of an accident and injury to vehicle occupants or other road users.
