Tata's New Hatchback Zica Now Renamed Tiago

I am a newcomer on TAI but has been following this thread for some time. We booked our Tiago Petrol XZ Espresso Brown on 21 February, even before official booking was opened. Delivery was promised on 25th and car was available for PDI on 26th. Got the delivery on 27th April. By the time we went for delivery the waiting has shot to 8 weeks for both Petrol and Diesel. Have clocked 550 kms on ODO and it's doing well. MID showing 15 kmpl in city traffic with full time AC. Some vibration are felt only when idling in eco mode and AC on and that too at par with any 3 pot Maruti.

With 3022 units of Tiago despatched to dealers in the month of April 2016, the start has been quite good for Tiago given the fact that Tiago is available only in petrol till now and some dealers have recently started delivering the cars. (Some dealers will even start delivering on Akshay tritiya itself).

So the dealer dispatches can get increased to 6-7k units per month easily in 2-3 months down the line and after the diesel version is also available for deliveries.

Tata marketing teams need to stay up on their heels for at least coming 2-3 months more else Tiago may lose some sales and Tata mist take care that waiting is well controlled, with options like Grand i10 around, it can be lethal to have long waiting periods of 8 weeks and above and customers should be given a solid commitment of last possible delivery date; this extension in waiting is damn frustrating for any customer.

I think Maruti has already started working on this challenge. A couple of weeks ago i did see a white Celerio being tested inside Maruti gurgaon plant from a nearby building, didn't see any noticeable change to the exteriors so they might be testing some interior changes (may be a new engine or an update to it)?

Along with the Celerio, Alto, their new LCV and a white Ciaz were also being tested.

In terms of maintaining the shine without any additional effort, I would prefer silver followed by white and then the rest.

I don't think Alto is being impacted by Tiago in any way. Kwid might be the reason for drop in Alto numbers. In any case there are big discounts available on most versions of the Alto. Probably all the dealers are flush with stocks of Altos.

Had test drive of Diesel car. Super one!
But a/c found less effective compared to petrol car driven a month back. Effect started after ~15 min.s, but by then TD time was over as many people were in que.
Representative said this is because environmental conditions it takes so much time to cool.

Going through accessories, have some doubts-
1. What is HUD with TPMS? - They said it is standard feature in xz, but can't explain exactly what is it. Is it smart display unit ?
2. What is back seat organizer? - They said it like seat back pocket, but I doesen't feel it appropriate.
3. Tool kit- Is it something different than standard tool kit? They said this is pro active people tending to repair car themselves (to save AMC?)
4. Inverter DC to AC - why does it need in a car?

It is because of Kwid and not Tiago. Kwid has given Renault 200% growth in April month.

Tire pressure monitoring system and Head up display are accessories. Seat Back organizer is just addition of pockets.

1) HUD is an accessory. It'll project vital information on your windshield. This is not a standard feature in Tiago. It'll be similar to thisPlease ask SA if your TPMS will be mounted on the rim as part of valve stem. This is the best one. See below (direct TPMS)

3) Toolkit - may consist of safety toolkits - namely window breaker, fire extinguisher, jumper cable, etc. Just guessing - please check with your SA.
4) Inverter - you can use it to power your laptop, or other device etc.

Either I am missing something completely or to me it is Tiago's effect. Don't we know how many people have booked their Tiago and are waiting for their car's delivery. So even if the Tiago numbers for the month of April doesn't looks big, many might have converted from Alto to Tiago.

As per my discussions with friends , (they do own entry level cars only) though these are advanced technologies, not must need accessories considering local situations

HUD is more like a luxury accessory. Without TPMS HUD will display vehicle speed, etc which you can get it from installed meters anyway. If you are keen to splurge you can go with it. It adds a cool factor to any car.
TPMS is good to have but not a must have for me.

Silver is the easiest to maintain as most of the scratches and dirt won't be visible in that color. But it is a bit too common.
White, on the other hand, is lovely looking and some black stickering and alloys would look awesome on it.
Brown is a decent color, but dark colors are a bit difficult to keep scratch-free.
