Re: Brand New Sedan Class (Vista QJD VX) 1.3 Years - 33.7K Kms on ODO

You mean to say you have removed that rusted "sparco" plates and now the mud flaps are plain, isn't it ?? if so the look is good now than before, I have never liked that name plate on the mud flaps. So continue like this APPU[:)]

I removed the plates and cropped the edges to be a curve and reduced the height to look good[:)]

Here is the pic which I taken previously(Check the length and width of the Mats)[:D]

Appu, the present mats are looking good. [:)]
Since you are a tata enthusiast and if you are having excess VITAMIN M[;)], will you consider buying D90 in the near future? I know you have already test driven D90 and impressed by its performance.

I expect that Appu will go for a Sedan when he changes his present Vista may be a facelifted Manza[:)]

@Appu.. Vista looks good in those mats. I really don't like the rear of Vista without the mats. It looks like there is something missing. But this looks good. [:)]
You loved your Whitey very much and its rewarding you...[:D]

If TATA Launched D90 before 1Year 5Months, I would opt for D90.

My Vista is serving me well, so no idea of changing in the near future. If I have excess money[angel]. I may go for some MUV like Innova/Aria or SUV like Safari/XUV and keep Vista for my personal/office use. Else, as like Gurrala said, I may upgrade my Vista with some Sedan[:)]

@Jagrover: Thank you buddy for the kind words[:)].

Re: Brand New Sedan Class (Vista QJD VX) 1.3 Years - 33.7K Kms on ODO

Guys,

One Good News and Bad News with Whity,

First, Good News: :)

I was on a trip of 600kms from 15th - 16th of Sept.

All the way Whity performed its best as Usual. While I was on the way to Cuddalore on 15th, my front Left Tyre gone flat. I found that when we finished our Lunch. Then replaced the Flat Tyre with spare Tyre and continued the trip. Due to Sunday, there was no Puncture shop and I'm also not in mood to search the shop.

On 16th Morning I started from Cuddalore to Vellore without the spare Tyre. we started at 9:20am and reached home at Vellore at 12:20am without a single break . Then again spent the time by roaming here and there till 7:00pm and reached home without any issue:)

Now, Bad News: :(

Around 9:00pm, my parents and sister went to relative home which is present some 3 streets next to my house at Vellore.

At 9:30pm, I received a call from my Dad saying Whity was refusing to start.

I took my sisters Scooty and reached the spot in minutes. Once I reached there I found the Parking lights are blinking when my Dad trying to start the car. I thought some short circuit would be the issue, So disconnected the battery terminal and connected again to start. This time I tried to start the Whity.

When I turned ON the Ignition, I found all the lights on the Console started binging and the Engine not even cracked. Then called some guys who passed on the street to help to start the car. I engaged the second gear, While those guys pushing the car I released the Clutch, Whity started. then went for some 20mins drive.

Once I reached home, I tried to restart the car. But, it didn't :(. Here I done a big mistake. I could have rolled up before switching off the Engine [frustration]

Due to low battery, the windows were struggled to roll up. After struggling few mins, I rolled up all the windows. Even center locking were not working, so done the manual locking.

So finally I concluded Battery is Kaput [cry]

17/09/2013, Today:

As I already mentioned in the thread, Vellore TASS has been closed and I'm expecting New dealer for TASS shortly. So I don't know whether to call my SE or not. But thought to check with him. So, I called him around 8:45am, and informed the scenario. He too suspected the Battery and he refereed Electrician, who worked in TASS and currently having private car Electrical shop :)

SE had a word with Electrician and asked him to come to my place. Electrician reached home at 10am and checked the status of the car.

Then He opened the battery caps with coin and found there was no Distilled water there in Battery [confused]

So he removed the battery and checked it, then He said "Battery looks undamaged. Will add the distill water and charge the Battery today. If everything is fine we can keep the battery. Otherwise will go for Amaron battery"

Electrician took the battery to his shop. As I need to go to Chennai, He dropped me in New Bus stand at Vellore.

Will see what happen tomorrow.

Emotional touch:

In the past two days, I was on full driving even I went to some remote village which is literately separated from any Cities and Towns. Even no roads, bus, nothing. If the problem happened there what would have happened?
Even we traveled with a one year baby, can't imagine the situation.

Thanks to Vista for taking care of Us, till we reach our home :)

BTW, I've installed LED parking bulbs before starting the trip :)

Special Thanks to HighwayRanger and Cooldhaya for the suggestion provided over the Phone call during the incident:)

It seems you didn't service the battery from the date of purchase. If the problem persist, change the battery and don't waste money in charging the battery and refilling water.

APPU, Was there any spillage in the battery compartment? Distilled water cannot drain out. From the electrician point of view, there is no visible damage to the battery. Keep an eye on the battery and as suggested by linkin, change the battery if the problem persists. I wish you all the best.[:)]

Yes, I didn't took care of my car's battery from the day one. I thought, it is just a 1.5Yrs battery, so it won't give trouble[frustration]

No there is no spillage in the battery compartment & It was not completely drained out. The distilled water reduced to half of the battery.

Here is the Update,

Yesterday(18/09/13) I called to the Electrician and asked the status of the Battery. He said that the battery was in good condition after charging it with replaced acid and he said the distilled water was not completely drained out. It reduced to half of the battery, so the cells were not affected.

Electrician came to home at 11:30am with the battery and fixed in Whity. Whity started as usual in a single crank[:D]. I asked Electrician about the remaining life time of the battery. He said "If we using starting the car at least once in a week, then the battery will be good for Next one year, otherwise it will last for next 6months for sure".

As we are using the car regularly, I hope Battery will last for next 1 year. But, I planned to replace with New Battery by coming January to avoid unnecessary issue[:)]

BTW,Electrician quoted Rs.500 for Charging the Battery + Labor Charge. As we satisfied with the work, we paid the same amount without any bargain.

@Appu

If I am not wrong, the battery also should be checked by the A.S.S periodically whenever the car goes for regular service and I do not expect that there is nothing much that a owner should put his head into these kind of issues as it is not possible for every body to take care of such things. So manufacturers prepare the manual and service intervals and the check points so that everything is taken care at A.S.S. with trained personal[:)]

Yes Gurrala, What you said is 100% correct[:)]

I don't know A.S.S's are checking the battery or not, during the service.

Anyhow, After facing the issue, it is better to keep eye on Battery once in a month[:)]

This is a learning. I should frequently open the hood now for my Manza and keep an eye on the battery. Mine is already 1.3 yrs old from manufacture. And no warranty on battery (guess it was for 6 months only).

I always ensure to ask the service guy about the status of the battery whenever I visit A.S.S. Mine is 2+ years old and never gave any problem till now[:)]
