Re: Tata Safari Storme Road Test Review

In 2012 this car came like a Symbian Super smartfone with 300mhz processor, heavy as leadblock looking like a pencil box and some needful features like dialer and 3g with 132MB of storage but suffers with fluid UI,compatibility,no camera,no memory card slot ...sigh we are confused against manufacturer claims if it is a smartfone or just ordinary mobile Phone ?
I have a Blackberry curve, which comes with single processor, no flash for cam & humble cam. No touch screen either. But you know what BB is used for ? Emails, BBM, internet...it is phone+PDA. My other phone is htc running on android with all fancy stuff, but for work, I depend solely on BB, htc is limited for phone, live TV & Whatsapp. Not a single phone on this planet offers security like that in BB.

Use Storme what it does best - off roading. If you require only fancy gadgets, buy xylo/xuv. [lol] And if you want 0-100, buy Linea T-Jet. But if you really want happy legs, buy Storme.

BTW, I am waiting for BB 10. Came to know that it beat apple & win8 phones on internet applications & it has been given go ahead from US & Canadian Security agencies.

For those wanting a fortuner, there is no replacement for the T badge currently.
Please go & visit DSK Toyota, Pune & see how many accidents have taken place due to hopeless brakes of Fortuner. T means Q, T means Q !! Is this reliability ? This is more of sycophancy. [roll]

Re: Tata Safari Storme Road Test Review

I would say , go for it now. These are just speculations and there is no concrete information or press release from TATA Motors. And who knows, they might take ages to launch the Storme with new features as they did with original launch of Storme. It is always mind boggling decision.
When we buy mobile also, there is always a new mobile with better spec launching sooner.
But the question is

  1. How long one should wait?
  2. Can you have enough patience and handle the frustration?
  3. What if the launch takes much longer than expected?

So it is better to go with what we have today. And Storme is not launched across India yet. It will take them atleast till feb-march 2013 to do that, and do you think in matter of few months they can come with new features, dashboard and that also niggle free? I dont think they will take that risk. [;)]
+1 & who know these reports can be given by competitors so as to make Storme buyers drop idea of buying now. [glasses]

Price: Lx 4x2 is cheaper than Duster 110 and has almost equal equipments and has 2 more child seats.
Agree & you forgot one important thing which is there only in Storme -
All 4 disc brakes with ABS. Not to bouncy Fortuner has it. [:D]

Re: Tata Safari Storme Road Test Review

I do not know why some people were not happy with my posts.
Atleast tata is reading the criticism from members like jaydev and are trying to improve on their current offering . that too as early as next year.

What i am gathering is they are factoring the added weight in their car to improve the power output to 160hp and the 6th gear, something which should have been apt when calling their dicor as varicor.

Better late than never, but then fence sitters will have to wait a bit longer to iron out issues which might creep in the initial phase.

Re: Tata Safari Storme Road Test Review

Looks like I have to time to renovate my Garage.

Now, Tata Motors is planning to introduce new features on the Storme come next year. First of all, the Storme would get a new high-end audio system from Harman Kardon complete with a sub-woofer and amplifier. Certainly, the aim is to place the Storme among the premium SUV in its range.
The other upgrade comes in the form of more power. The 2.2 liter engine will be tuned to produce 160 bhp, 20 bhp more than the current engine. Torque on the other hand will be upped to 400 Nm from the present 320 Nm. Now, that will provide some kick-in-the-back performance for sure.
Finally, Tata Motors plans to take on its biggest rival- Mahindra XUV500 in the form of a Storme coupled with an automatic gearbox. The XUV500 does not have this feature despite offering a bunch of gadgetry. Also, an automatic gearbox is something customers would love to own in a car the size of the Storme.
Now it sounds buziness

Re: Tata Safari Storme Road Test Review

- Middle row seats not getting locked properly
- Glove compartment lights remains on
- A little noise from the driver side door

About Dealer
- Nice people to deal with
- They excel in providing service even

Eureka, Eureka Finally found a post which was long awaited by me.

This is a critical zone for TATA car owners.I have read on 'stormeofficially breaks cover' that Storme buyers are receiving VIP treatment at the dealerships which means non storme TATA car buyers were receiving LIP (Less Important Person) treatment.

The Vip treatment and home visit will be futile unless they solve the problems mentioned by Cyash with immidiete effect and till now dealers have been proved failure for other cars . Seat lock problem /glovebox light problems are immidietly solvable, at workshop if not at home.
If they can visit Cyash 's place for papers then they shouldn't hesitate to visit the place for lock problem which can be solved without taking the car to the workshop, if at all they think Storme buyers are VIPs.

Atleast in Pune , TATA' s sparepart' s central godown is situated at Hinjawadi , stone throw distance from Baner concorde.
They should not give excuses such as, sir, part is ordered/awaited/1 week/2-3 weeks /sorry wrong part arrived etc. as a part of old habit.

Other than concorde , all other dealers are not directly related to TATA, rather they are partners with TATA. And TATA makes it compulsory to mention so on the booking receipt. So the relationship is like divorced on paper but staying togather for the sake of children (read sales and custemers).:lol!:
Please ,remember that the new car owner' s honeymoon is with car and not with TASS/Dealer.So whenever you find them defying logic just start kicking ' em on mid-behind.

Do not get carried away by the good delivery ceremony etc. After all it is not the memory of a grand marriage ceremony which matters in the long but the behavior and care taken by bridegrooms throughout life .

@Cyash , I am writing this ,not for you alone , but for every storme buyer.

Xylo=XUV or Linea T-Jet or Storme ? What Should i go for guys? Can we drag a few more here?
Your confusion is alright buddy, but AFA storme is concerned , you must wait till you get 2 to 3 ownership reviews about TASS ,atleast of 20000 km.ASS is the most hopeless thing for TATA car owners. Many members including me, you will find satisfied with TATA cars by virtue of sheer quality of the product , but annoyed by TASS , albeit they are improving day by day for sure.

So wait, read , and then decide, if at all you believe in info and rationale based decision.good luck.[;)]

Yes as I said earlier here many times that I will need at least 6 months to judge on the reliability of the Storme. But by then,as i am hearing these days, another storme with lots of " Bells and whistles" is likely to get launched.[confused][confused]

yes you are right, like any car regardless of any brand reliability of storme has to be seen , if it is reliable then only we can conclude storme is good product by all means .

The updated storme in 6 months news iam not buying they might bring later as a refresh but not so early.

Though offtopic but I am also using the same black piece of plastic these days, but I use it only for one work - 'calling' and 'caling', none else.

Use Storme what it does best - off roading.
Hmm, its better and in fact more comfy on-road BTW.

Xylo and XUV offer a lot more than just fancy gadgets.
0-100 is better in City as compared to T-Jet(for 15 lac(Price of VX) one can get a Laura TSi Classic too which does 0-100 in nearly half the time that Storme takes), for happy legs..eh, any car with good legroom and thigh support is good.

As per some numbers:
BRAKING DISTANCE OF FORTUNER 4X2 AND 4X4...BOTH ARE LESSER THAN SAFARI.

Agree & you forgot one important thing which is there only in Storme -
All 4 disc brakes with ABS. Not to bouncy Fortuner has it. [:D]
IT DOESN'T MATTER REALLY..
BOTH PAJERO SPORT AND FORTUNER BRAKE BETTER THAN STORME WHILE BOTH HAVE FRONT DISCS ONLY.
