Guyz,

Off late i see my ac blower is not working as expected, Now the blower speed feels like 1 and in 1 there is very negligible air blowing out.

Any idea what it could be, as the AC gas is refilled before shirdi trip last month.

Clean the A/C air filter. Even I too faced minimum air flow for the past 2 months. After cleaning the A/C air filter, the A/C flow was back to normal.

cleaning the A/C air filter will take some 15mins.

Congratulations on your serendipity; a mechanically pristine Safari at 50% of its market price is a good deal indeed.

Rs. 8000 is 1/3rd of what you would spend on a complete front suspension overhaul. Since the Safari is so comfortable, most owners do not tend to slow down for bad roads/speed breakers/potholes which proves extremely detrimental to the suspension/alignment in the long run. The Safari is known to lose its camber setting if driven rashly over bad terrain and camber adjustment can only be done at an Authoriszed Tata Service Centre since it entails removing the entire front suspension in order to add shims. So please treat your vehicle nicely over bad terrain and follow rotation, alignment, balancing procedure religiously (read bang on schedule).

Wishing you a happy and trouble free ownership of your Safari. Please keep this thread updated. All the best.

Regards,
Sam

Sorry OT but Sam, is this applicable even for storme? Since the time I have graduated to Storme, I have started disrespecting potholes and small speed brakers. And dont feel much as beast kind of glides over it at around 40-50 kmph.

Any machine will suffer problems if treated roughly. In the Storme, thankfully, camber could be adjusted my means of a screw and there is no need to remove the entire suspension.

Back to the topic please.

Thanks sam, I agree with you.i never stopped/slowed for bad roads except speed brakers.one of the main intention of me moving to safari from fiesta is to take on bad roads, but never anticipated problems in suspension by 25000 kms.

Anyways thanks again, need to practice slowing down for bad roads consistently.

There is no air filter for AC in Tata Safari. If you are experiencing low air flow then check the air flow direction knob, it might be selected for legs or defogger.
Am sure it is pointed towards face, I checked all those options in the ac controls.

SA from tata authorised tvs garage guy said, this is due to blockages in the cooling coil but I dont buy that.

Note: the rear roof ac is working perfectly, problem only with the front ac.

Wow, That is great to know that you got a new looking trouble free saffari for half of the original price. Recently my friend also bought Toyotta Carolla for 6L, cat which was driven solely by a lady.

Actually am scared of used vehicles and safely I wanted to go for new one. But after seeying your comments/reviews i myself start thinking of used vehicle as next option. MY son wanted a long Sedan and I wanted a MUV/SUV. Let us see.

Would you believe me, the safari is actually my 4th used car. Before santro my room mates and myself together bought a used palio in 2007 and enjoyed it till I stayed in mumbai.

Overall the used car option provides us the capability to move and use a car of segment higher without hitting finance.

But again need to compromise on sentiments, fresh car feel all those.
Also used cars provides us a option to sell the vehicle at anytime without losing much.[:)]

Guyz,

Spoke to a ac mechanic in chromepet.he also said the lower blowing speed is due to dust in the cooling coil.planning to take it for ac servicing to him next saturday.

Meanwhile took couple of snaps of my safari.headlight upgrade, horn changed to trumpet type and the rear view camera are the only changes in the vechicle. revcamera.jpg

Am not sure about this, as this camera and monitor is already installed when I bought it. It will show no of cms remaining to hit the object.

It must be detected by the sensors installed along with the camera, both give their feed to the monitor.

Congrats hari.d You have really got a nice deal. Can you please keep this thread updated so that all the people looking to go for a used safari can also get a good SUV like you.

Also was going through the other threads for the below link

http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...ta-safari-left-me-stranded-now-hat-trick.html

I guess even that is a 2009 make. Can you please check the same with your machine if something like this is there.

Also I have heard that Safari Maintainence is very expensive. Can please throw some light on this as well.

Definitely the maintenance is not expensive for the vehicle of this size.

Listing the maintenance required.

Every 15000Kms :
Change engine oil :~2400INR (8 ltrs)
Oil filter : ~190
Should come around 4000K including water service and labour in ASS.

Every 30000 Kms or 2 Years:

Change engine oil :~2400INR (8 ltrs)
Oil filter : ~190
Fuel Filter : ~1600
Power steering fluid:~270
Clutch and brake fluid : ~100

Total around ~ 6500

Every 45000 Kms or 3 Years:
Change engine oil :~2400INR (8 ltrs)
Oil filter : ~190
Air Filter : ~700
Brake pad replacement if needed ~ 3000
Gear/Transmission oil ~ 1500

Total around ~ 8500

For AC gas refilling if cooling is reduced : Complete fill 1200 Rs.
Front suspension overhaul (Replacement based on usage. Range from 60000 kms to 100000 kms): ~20000 rs in ASS. ~15000 rs outside garages.
Clutch set (Replacement based on usage. Range from 60000 kms to 100000 kms): 12000 rs in ASS ~ 9000 rs in local garages.

There is no need for oil change before 15000Kms. The manual will say about dusty roads means change at every 7500 kms.But in real life, we can segregate the usage as city driving and highway driving.More city driving means more dusty driving.

So if usage is 50:50, changing at 15000kms is enough. If the vehicle is completely driven in the city driving then oil can be changed at 10000kms itself. But as far as safari is concerned hardly there will be any vehicle which will do complete city driving.

Also there is no need to add any performance oil/additive. There are fuel additive, engine oil additive, brake oil additive, power steering oil additive, gear oil additive and so on. Most of the ASS will add these stuff in their respective oil replacement and double the service cost. Even i have been experienced the same in my last service, instead of getting around 7500 rs as service cost for around 13500 rs. The additive oils and the labour for additive alone contributed 5000 rs.

Those mentioned additives may or may not improve the conditions, but the as the name suggest its additives not mandatory ones. So no need to spend the extra money for the additives.

So basically if a 6 lac car have a average maintenance cost of 10000 rs, then the 12 lac car will definitely have a minimum maintenance cost for 15000 rs.
