Re: Scoop: Tata Motors Considering Compact SUV Based on X1 Platform

Let us hope for the best,if it is the multijet then there is a chance for them as they have now with vista and manza.
please note the pic,may be this is what is coming.got it from the net.
It looks like a BMW X1..
Ertiga is a rival but Enjoy with that chineese image is not a big rival IMHO.
No doubt Tata will surely choose the 90 ps Multijet for the muv since they have no reason to avoid that.
Don't know about the 1.05l Dicor showcased at the auto expo producing 90ps[:)]

Re: Scoop: Tata Motors Considering Compact SUV Based on X1 Platform

We have done something very innovative that will allow us to respond more positively, You’ll see, over the next 12-18 months onwards, a fireworks of output.” is what Tim Leverton, Tata Motors’ head of research and development had to say a while back. It is known in the automotive scenario that Tata is building a CUV based on their staple diet, the Vista’s platform.

Re: Scoop: Tata Motors Considering Compact SUV Based on X1 Platform

@ Vishwas,
that concept "INDIVA" was shown to public way back in 2002 (if m right). TATA was looking at a possibility of building a MPV on the first gen Indica platform. The response was mild (well NIL), hence it never progressed into prototype phase.

The one we are talking about here is completely different. Its based on X1 (vista/manza) platform. AND it is supposed to be a Compact SUV not MPV. SO expect it to be a 5 seater. If the rumors are to be believed, the design has been finalized and prototyping has started. Members in PUNE should start having the glimpse of this towards the end of this year. AND may be TATA will display a prototype at the 2014 Auto Expo.

AND TATA is also developing mini MPVs, based on X2 (aria/storme) platform. Now that will be a 7 seater, or rather 5+(%^&*)2 seater.

And Mr Ranger, TATA did display their 1 ltr engine at the 2012 auto expo. It was a 3 cylinder one.

Re: Scoop: Tata Motors Considering Compact SUV Based on X1 Platform

What use is a car that has the same usability as the Vista on a Vista platform? They have to get two more seats in-even if tiny jump seats
-hence i am really confused if the new vehicle will land up looking like minibus on the Vista-X1 platform?

Re: Scoop: Tata Motors Considering Compact SUV Based on X1 Platform

i dont think TATA will play a 7 seater card here. For that its also working on mini ARIA/Sumo. This, as per me, will be a 5 seater.

AND ICB, even though with a pathetic photoshop, have shot in the right direction. That is the new TATA design language, and we have seen SAFARI Storme sporting the similar front end. Expect all the future TATA models to sport a similar front end.

Even I have been saying all the while that the Xenon is a good platform to build on and even made a pictorial of probable models that could come. Here it is again since DB Sir is working with Tata now, hope something similar sees the light of day [clap]
