Press Release:
Tata Motors, India’s leading automotive brand, today celebrated the roll – out of the 3,00,000th Nexon – India’s first GNCAP 5star rated car, from its Ranjangaon facility in Pune. Since the 200k roll – out in June 2021, Tata Motors recorded 100k units of the Nexon, in less than 8 months. While being recently featured in the top 5 highest selling cars in India, the Nexon has multiple awards to its credibility, making it the #1 selling Compact SUV in its segment. Furthermore, the brand Nexon has not only proved its mettle in the internal combustion space but has broken the shackles to lead the EV revolution in India. Driven and proven over 50 million kms, the Nexon EV has saved close to 9860 tonnes of CO2 emissions, which is equivalent to planting of 1.47 Lakh trees. With 13500+ happy customers, Nexon EV currently dominates the Indian EV 4-wheeler segment with a market share of more than 62% (YTD).

To mark this milestone and keeping the New Forever brand promise, Tata Motors today launched 4 new variants in the top trims of this successful compact SUV - the XZ+ (P) / XZA+ (P) and XZ+ (HS) / XZA+ (HS) in both petrol & diesel with a new colour option in Royale Blue . These variants will also be offered in the #Dark avatar. With bookings commencing today, the new variants will be available across all Tata Motors authorized dealerships.

Commenting on this milestone, Mr. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. said, “It is indeed a moment of pride to witness the roll – out of the 3,00,000th Tata Nexon – a landmark product in the turnaround of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles. Being an integral part of the New Forever range, brand Nexon has successfully established its popularity in the compact SUV segment since its launch in 2017 and has become a part of many families. Adding to the popularity of the ICE variant, the Nexon EV too has created a niche for itself and has gained immense recognition from its customers. The story of building a strong and safe SUV brand started with the Nexon – being the first Global NCAP 5 star rated car in India. Creating benchmarks in safety, Tata Nexon has also been widely appreciated for its striking design, superior ride and handling characteristics, spirited performance, and comfort.”

He further added, “The success of Nexon has been pivotal in proving our leadership in the SUV segment and to rejoice this momentous occasion, we have expanded our Nexon portfolio by adding four new variants in the line-up for our customers. We are confident that the Nexon will continue to help expand our customer base and bolster the growth of Tata Motors in the future.”

The new Nexon XZ+ (P) / XZA+ (P) variants will be equipped with additional premium features such as Premium Benecke Kaliko Leatherette ventilated front seats, air purifier and auto dimming IRVM. Additionally, the new XZ+ (HS) / XZA+ (HS) variants will sport an air purifier to make the drives healthier for the occupants. These additional features will also be available in their respective #Dark editions.

Launched in 2017, Tata Motors has constantly modernized the Nexon for safety, design, regulations, emissions, aspirational and segment defining feature additions. This has helped the Nexon to stay contemporary and in line with the evolving customer needs. With the introduction of the recently launched Kaziranga Edition, the Nexon will now be available in 40 variants, offering customers an array of options at different price points to choose from, according to their requirements. The range will include 22 variants in petrol and 18 variants in diesel with automatic and manual transmission options.

The Nexon has been the flagbearer of Tata Motors’ commitment to safety as it has paved way for other cars from Tata Motors like the Punch, Altroz, Tiago and Tigor to establish new benchmarks in car safety in each of their respective segments. It is one of the most successful products from the New Forever range of Tata Motors’ portfolio.

Tata Nexon crosses 5 lakh unit production milestone; facelift expected by August

20230412034731_aaaa.jpg

Tata Motors’ blockbuster compact SUV, the Nexon, has crossed the 5,00,000 unit production milestone. The Nexon has achieved this feat in 67 months.

The 5,00,000th Nexon rolled out from Tata Motors’ Ranjangaon plant on April 11, 2023, around six years after its launch on September 21, 2017. Given the increasing demand for the Nexon, which is India’s bestselling compact SUV and mass market EV, it is not surprising that the timeline for successive production milestones keep getting shorter.

Tata Nexon Panoramic Sunroof spied – Launch soon to rival XUV 3XO

With a dip in sales in March and April, it is important to find the reasons for the slide. It is possible that Nexon’s own sibling, the Punch, could be responsible to some extent. Another factor could be the new Mahindra XUV 3XO that comes with multiple segment-first features. To improve competencies, Tata Motors is working to introduce some new updates for Nexon.

One of the biggest crowd-pulling car feature in India is a sunroof. Mahindra launched the new XUV 3XO with panoramic sunroof, making it the 1st car in the sub 4 meter SUV segment to get such a huge sunroof. The result of this added feature can be seen in the huge booking numbers reported by Mahindra. With Mahindra XUV 3XO recording 50k bookings in just 1 hour, it was only a matter of time rivals took notice.

The problematic DCA could be a reason. With more and more customers looking at stretching their budgets for an automatic, there is now the option of 3xo with a torque converter. Even if its only a couple of cases as reported in other forums , I haven't heard of entire transmissions being replaced under warranty with subject to manufacturers like Maruti and Honda . Even the Hyundais with reported DCA issues would cause the heating issues in city traffic. This coupled with the toothless untrained service center back up is a recipe for apprehension among the new customers. Also the facelift , though widely appreciated by auto journalists for bringing in the "modern look" , really does not work with slightly older generation. In the name of "clean styling" they have removed the soul of the design. The look with those ice cubed shaped led headlights beautifully placed on the 2020 Sierra concept has been slapped on every single car that is coming out of TAMO right from small cars to big SUVs without increasing the proportion of the headlight sizes. Even the interior , "clean styling" doesnt mean lazy styling. You literally place a tablet on top of the dash , remove most of the useful buttons , relegate important functions to a touch panel {disclaimer: I havent used it in person ] and to top it all , says now Nexon sells in droves, so we make the interior purple with a purple insert in the steering wheel no less. We all know how quickly the interior yellow theme of the facelift Harrier was removed and a black one placed .If you scroll a few posts above the dashboard of the last gen Nexon is visible. Is that not more organically styled? Lots for the design department to introspect... OH did I not remind you
Senior TAMO design team : " Why is the Sonet and Seltos selling so much despite their absymal safety record [confused] ?
Junior TAMO design team : Ah hmm SSSiirr its those tubelight LEDS which customers can show off even in the dark of the night.

Last heard customers are waiting in service centers for warranty replacements of led bars for water ingress.
The TAMO design department and their research team are hugely talented with centers in Turin , UK and India , If they put their soul into this , within a fraction , they can arrest this slide,
For starters why dont you put some reflective trim or a clearer lens so that LEDS are more visible from a design standpoint.

For two consecutive months ,the Nexon has gone out of the top 10.The sales numbers at 11000 odd levels from the consistent 14000 levels that it used to do for a long time. This is really worrying. There is that old saying "If it aint broke, don't fix it." Well the design compromise, to attain part sharing with respect to electric and other ICE platforms is beginning to hurt I think.
What is this trend of giving the car an artificially elongated and artificially widened look by adding black wrap and rear spoilers and connected tail lamps? It's not working in my opinion. Your customer is not naive.
Even the previous Nexons controversial rear was unique, there was nothing like that on the road and most people who said the rear design was the reason they ignoted your brand was finding an excuse. They would have bought the Sonet and Venue anyway.

It's almost like the current designer is on a mission to remove any traces of the old identity and stamp a new "modern" design direction.
Even the beautifully styled Altroz is not spared, In its funnily named Racer avatar, again some black wrap is used to artificially lengthen the look of the car, a la previous gen Ford fiesta hatch type rear which in any case was never a great looking car and lo it breaks the flow of the beautiful rear body panel. Oh and there is black bonnet too.
Even the understated honey comb grill has been replaced by something that looks like in my opinion "some allergic reaction on the skin just popped up or something similar. The similar busy grill has been found on the Harrier as well.
Dear Tata Motors, understand your custoner base, these are people who value the ride and handling of your cars, honed by no less than Narain Karthikayen. The responsive steering and the solid safety ratings all encapsulated in timeless designs are those that propelled you to the sales charts.

He is not intetested in the lit TATA logo or the tubelight drl's. In your pursuit of a wider customer base, don't lose your core customer.
Please course correct, make the headlights more visible.
The perceptible increase in interior quality is well appreciated but what is the rationale behind that touch panel where all buttons are not visible unless ignition is turned on?? Minimalism??
Hope the upcoming Sierra and Curvv will escape this trend.

Re: Scoop: Tata Motors Considering Compact SUV Based on X1 Platform

Some of them left TATA Motors and reached places where they belong.
- they joined conservative companies where they can continue their style.

New head of passenger cars division is from Samsung. That along with the appointment of Carl slym shows a determination by the top management to turn around. Samsung has one of the best after sales service set ups in consumer goods industry.
They made the right choice. It is better to work on a design that is already popular than on something new.
