Well, it was early Sunday morning in Chennai at around 7:30ish at he junction of Bazullah road and North Boagh roads. I was a mere spectator to this unfortunate incident and not the owner and hence, I have no idea as regards to the age of car, etc. The first few snaps clearly show smoke devoloping in the engine bay and getting thicker. The first video shows the events before the sparks ignited the fire in the second video. This one was short as this happened right next to a Petrol pump and hence when it(the Nano) went up in flames, people panicked running helter skelter for their lives fearing a blast and a larger tragedy.
I recall a similar incident in early 90′s when Tata Estate was launched and my collegemate’s father had purchased one. It went up in flames due to electrical fault and was duly replaced free of cost at that time, but the incident kind of dwells around Tata’s quality w.r.t their electricals being jinxed. It is quite sad that though nearly 2 decades have passed since I fist witnessed a Tata car burning, they still haven’t seem to have learnt from the past, unfortunate! I am a hardcore car n bike man and it sucks to see what i did see. Anyways, I hope they sort it out before someone gets hurt. (Courtesy: Indiancarsbikes.in)
