Tata Nano to be launched in Myanmar this week

Mizzima.com reports that according to Mr. Htoo Aung Lin, director of Apex Greatest Industrial Company, the importer of Tata cars in Myanmar, the Tata Nano is slated to launch in the Southeast Asian country this week.

However, the reports adds that the deliveries would take two to three months. Tata Motors sells the car through authorized distributors in Nepal and Sri Lanka, while a private importer Metis Motors, has begun retailing it in Jamaica, West Indies.

Interestingly, about 70 Nanos have been pre-ordered to be used as Taxis in Yangon, the former capital of Myanmar. As of now, the Tata Nano can be ordered from two dealerships in the city.

The little hatch has an expected price tag of 9.9 million Kyat (around Rs. 5.94 lakhs). The heavy import tax on cars is blamed for the steep pricing.

The Myanmar bound Nano is the top-end version which comes with AC and power windows. The same 624cc 37 bhp twin cylinder petrol motor, coupled to a 4-speed manual gearbox propels the hatchback.

Tata has been looking to export the Nano to ASEAN markets to tackle the poor domestic sales. The company would be hoping that Myanmar could contribute in some way to post better numbers.

On the 27th of May, Tata Motor Indonesia (TMI) registered three new models with Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry. The products are the Vista GZX (top-end petrol variant), Indica LGI 1.4L MT (petrol Indica variant) and Safari Storme EX 2.2L MT (2WD mid-variant).

A TMI spokeswoman told Kompas Otomotif that the goal of registering cars with the government is to test their feasibility.

Tata Motors launched in Indonesia last year at the Indonesian International Motor Show (IIMS 2012) and is presently getting its rudimentary dealership network in place. A range of products, from the tiny Nano to commercial vehicles were displayed at the show. However the company hasn’t started marketing them yet.

Kompas Otomotif is confident that the petrol Vista would be the first Tata car to launch at IIMS 2013 this September. It is described as a product larger than the Honda Jazz and Toyota Yaris with a 90PS 1.4-liter petrol engine. Despite rivaling bigger cars in the Indonesian market on paper, its competitors would be the Honda Brio, Kia Picanto, Nissan Micra and the Suzuki Ritz that make up the lower B segment.

It is not due to problem with nano per se but the service center and showroom.

Kind of hospitality they cater, one feels like in machhi market !

Tata, try to understand we are coming to buy a CAR ,not to rent a taxi.

Ps:Recently I bought a Nano[roll]

That's news man, we deserve an ownership report from you[:)]
Nothing much to say other than lot of negatives ,about why one should avoid dealing with Tata dealers .
After 2 hours of waiting ,I asked them "can I get something to drink" one of the lady pointed me to water filter.
That is it.
after 4 days Nano was Delivered.

Another one was even shocking,I was having a look at Demo storme parked outside,When I opened the doors security guard came and commanded that "you are not supposed to touch the vehical without the presence of sales excecutive"
So much for a customer who had bought 2 cars from same dealer. TATA!

Tata ASS is like" pattiyude valu pantirandu kollam kuzhalil ittalum valanje irikku" : only for Jayadev as it is in Malayalam..

Those experiences will really harm the good experiences with the car.[frustration]

Tata Motors has entered into Australian market in association with Fusion Automotive which will handle marketing and distribution of Tata's light commercial vehicles in Australia.
Mr. Karl Slym, Managing Director, Tata Motors, said, “We are very pleased to announce our entry in Australia and this marks an important milestone in the continued expansion of our global footprint. As we launch products tested and validated across some of the toughest terrains into the Australian market, we are happy to partner with the Fusion Automotive, who bring to table their tremendous insights for this market”.

Mr. Darren Bowler, Managing Director, Fusion Automotive Pty Ltd., Australia, said, “We are extremely pleased and proud to be the newly appointed distributor for Tata Motors in Australia. The vehicle range, starting with light commercials, will be competitively priced and will offer a greater level of value than what is available in the current market. There is no tougher place on earth to test vehicles than on some of the toughest and most demanding roads across India, and we believe that gives us a competitive advantage with the range of Tata Motors products”

He added, “The light commercial segment is now the third largest segment of the Australian new-car market, with 13 major brands in the 4x2 and 4x4 categories. We believe there is demand in Australia for a utility range of vehicles with the toughness and value for money equation that Tata Motors products deliver” he said.

Fusion Automotive plans to appoint dealers across Australia with the estimated size of the dealer network being at 13 by the end of the year. There are further plans that Fusion Automotive will be expanding the network across Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia over the next 12 months to about 25 dealers.
