Aditya, What you said is right buttt...I've noticed many times, that whenever glass is completely smashed it breaks into sqaurish pieces and what you are explaining is about a crack!

Absolutely.
The zone toughened glass is designed to shatter into small pieces, and that is what you see scattered around a junction many a time. The photo was just to illustrate the break pattern.
It is actually pretty difficult to have a situation when the glass breaks but does not break up into little bit immediately, which is why I had a bit of a problem finding a photo which showed that!!

Hey Gears no , it has nothing to do with Tints! All the modern cars have glasses designed as explained by Aditya meaning they don shatter easily!

Take a look at this picture , me and my friend involved in an accident in his Swift! The glass din break fully and it was not tinted. Hope this gives you an idea!

But this works for front windshield only in olden cars

Newer cars have same type in other glasses too
Current regulations, and the common practice with all manufacturers is to use Laminated glass for wind shields, and zone toughened glasses for all other glasses.

My DZire has Garware SRC Charcoal black 35% on side glasses and rear glass, and is not too dark from inside also. No problems for night driving from my side, but my dad once angrily complained mr regarding the tints!

If you wanna go for darker tints, make sure you have full judgement of your car and mind it you might face problems while reversing at night. My friends with darker tints reverse their cars by opening the driver door and looking back side, how the truckwallas do![lol]

thank you both
No i plan to have 35% on sides and 70% in the rear. i know 50% is legal limit for sides
but i like the dark tints and kind of ok driving with it, because i have driven like that before.
I am insisting on darker tints because i sweat a lot when the car is parked under sun so i plan to make that as effective to reduce by darker tints.
@gears1313
can please let me know the cost for garware.

If u want the best and finest in films and can afford around 5-7k for the side glasses go for V-Kool, it gives you the best results, allthough this film is against law in India [anger] Exact model T-35 is best and range upto 4k

for windsheild go for 3M and LLumar with blind eyes, there's no better or you can opt for Garware 50% Front and 70% Rear at around Rs.2.5k to 3k in Delhi, dunno bout ur state.

below is a pic of V-Kool film T-35

and a V-Kool shop in Banglore for ur reference

Dark tints are a real bad idea, Esp in the rains it worsens further.

Dark tints dont always make the car cooler on the inside. Most good quality light shades have U.V Block which keep the temperatures inside the car lower. Garware ice cool is one such brand and it keeps the insides cool and being a light shade is not a problem if there is U.V block and heat rejection as features of the sun control film.
