I have searched the forum but did not find a suitable thread where we could actually discuss about Android applications & review it. This thread is exclusively for Android users. Let us jot down the apps we are using & what we feel about it.

What it does - Nice app to maintain your car's log!

How it performs (your rating) - Can be a bit confusing.



App name - Advanced task killer

Free/Charge - Free

What it does - Kills all running apps. Has got a shortcut key too.

How it performs (your rating) - Very good.



App name - Calender Pad

Free/Charge - Free

What it does - A normal calender but with a nice widget.

How it performs (your rating) - Nothing extraordinary.


App name - Uninstaller

Free/Charge - Free

What it does - Quick way to uninstall apps

How it performs (your rating) - Very very easy to use



App name - AppBrain App Market

Free/Charge - Free

What it does - A better Android Market!

How it performs (your rating) - In some ways, is better than the stock market



App name - Where's My Droid

Free/Charge - Free

What it does - Helps trace your phone if you forgot where you had kept it. Send a msg to your phone from any phone & your phone will start ringing in full

volume, even if its in silent!

How it performs (your rating) - Very very well!



App name - Go!Chat

Free/Charge - Free

What it does - Facebook chat

How it performs (your rating) - Good



App name - Evernote

Free/Charge - Free

What it does - An advanced notepad that can even save snapshots

How it performs (your rating) - Good, needs net connection to activate.




App name - Ringdroid

Free/Charge - Free

What it does - Make your own ringtones

How it performs (your rating) - Good, but the UI could have been simpler




App name - Akinator Lite

Free/Charge - Free

What it does - A fun guessing game

How it performs (your rating) - Its cool & sometimes amusing!




App name - DroidCam

Free/Charge - Free

What it does - Use your phone as a webcam & connect it to your PC/Laptop using Wi-fi

How it performs (your rating) - Very very good.





App name - MixZing

Free/Charge - Free

What it does - A good media player with eq settings

How it performs (your rating) - Could do with a better widget

Any alternative - Looking for one!

thanks for the reviews. i have used some of this such as MixZing and GoChat. I was pretty impressed with Android. this tempts me to ditch iOS.

Hmmm looks like Android applications are cool and yeah Android is slowly catching up!



My phone has SymbianS60 OS , it has got some applications which are cool but am not an application freak! Infact my phone has no themes , ringtones , games , applications!

I feel the Ovi (Nokia) apps are no match to the Android apps, no offense to Nokia lovers. They somehow lack the functionality & finesse of Android apps. It maybe because Ovi store is not as well monitored as Android market & many useless apps can be found in the store & the good apps are actually hidden beneath the useless apps!

Android uses the entire stack from application to its kernel hardware, hence android apps are fast, looks like other native apps and much much flexible. Unlike J2ME (Java mobile edition), which run into a sandbox and has lots of restrictions.

learining stages of android ,
spl thing is we can almost creat our own application!

a android phone(forgot model num, but avail in usa) with a connectivity that can be matched to the DSP
you are your own DJ in you car.

Android phone - less than 20K
DSP - connection audison - 95K
MAX 80 to 95K for speakers , wires , subs , etc.


fiddle with the android and the dsp works - equivalent to 3L system.

based on theoretical description . yet to experience them in real , may be in next car!

hurts that i need to learn something in computers! - android must be easy!(i hate learning something regarding computers- the only reason i quit IT field though offered!)

What it does - To downloand video's from you tube

How it performs (your rating) - Nice app to download you tube clips to your droid, its bit slow thats the only draw back, it keep track of the download even if the connection got dropped we can start it from the place where it got droped off

App name - Power Amp

Free/Charge - Free to try 140 rupees to buy

What it does - Audio Player with Equalizer settings and many more

How it performs (your rating) - best android app audio player where we can configure many good settings such as control audio player alone while the phone is in locked mode

Free/Charge - Rs.100.01/- for the full version. There's also a free version

What it does - Browse, post, upload attachments to various forums

How it performs (your rating) - A really useful app.

Any alternative - Nothing to match its functionality

What it does - Dash mounted, it will take good quality Video and Stills

How it performs (your rating) - 9/10

App name - Sporty Pal Pro

Free/Charge - free

What it does - Tracks your daily exercise like walking, jogging, cycling through GPS and give you a lot of data like the speed, route taken, calories burned, Daily/weekly/monthly charts/data.

How it performs (your rating) -9/10

App name - Blood pressure tracker lite

Free/Charge -free

What it does - allows you to enter your blood pressure readings and give you a graphical view of your pressure over a period.

How it performs (your rating) - 9/10

I was searching for a fun app. and installed Speed Car. Contrary to the reviews and rating it has received on Android Market. My experience with it was no better. The app. hanged and alas, unlocked the remaining cars. Not that it was bad but there are no additional tracks and all the cars feel and drive alike. Just uninstalled it. By the way, let us also include the links with the reviews of the apps in this thread.

hope u all forgot the super app-Torque

App name -Torque/Torque Lite

Free/Charge -Free- lite edition and charge- full version

What it does -displays the real time OBD2 data of your Car. What you need is the OBD2 Scanner. this app s completely compatible with the one Available on ebay(ELM 327). full version gives some more options like 0-60, 0-100. i guess the lite version(adware) is more than enough

How it performs (your rating) - awesome 5 star

Free/Charge -free

What it does -Uses GPS for tracking the Speed- Displays the speed you move(in car or even walk). mirrored HUD mode for displaying it on your cars wind shield(i dono form where these developers get ideas like this. it can handle your phone calls. it routes the call to the speaker phone when u get a call (not used this feature yet). shortcuts to other apps if u are using this as home (preset with google maps for navigation and music player). trip meters with travel duration average speed 0-60, 0-100 are super cool add-ons cons- current data gets reset if i get a call/sms while using the app(may be for my device- no such probs reported)

How it performs (your rating) -super cool . 5 star

Any alternative - just search speedometer(lot of similar apps available and this is the best)
