Nice set of pictures Vibhor. Superb clicks.

I am sure the Skoda Rapid will hit the markets very well mainly because of the aggressive pricing. I am not sure about the Vento sales now.

Thanks for the nicely illustrated report.

Skoda & VW share many chassis underpinnings. But Skoda somehow offers better ride-handling-steering combo. Barring Fiesta (which is atrociously priced and certified flop anyway), this could be the most FTD car in the segment. This factor along with slightly more VFM proposition, makes Rapid a more practical buy vis-a-vis Vento. Still those who are more conscious about brand image will pick Vento.

It will be exciting to watch how market will react to this sibling rivalry. Will it go Polo-Fabia way or tables would be turned this time.

P.S. Vento has upped the ante by providing steering mounted controls which Rapid misses.

hey guys kudos again from great coverage and pics!! well price is spot on but maybe skoda will add steering controls etc etc in next facelift!!

Nice package with an attractive price but people who fall on this pricing will surely get cheated just because of the high maintenance cost of skoda cars.
Maintaining a skoda is just like maintaining a train.
Nothing to say about resale value then :)

This is one of the most hopeless car to be launched.
Thanks for the pics though [:)]. For me, it is still the Vento. Once Sunny diesel comes in, Rapid will face severe competition for its lower end model, & for higher end, I doubt whether people will buy it over Vento. All in all, this will be another flop car from Skoda after Fabia & not to forget the pathetic A.S.S of Skoda.

One update which I have is Rapid which will be launched outside India will be altogether new car & not the one launched here, made from stale parts of multiple cars.

After sometime they will come with left hand steering position too. We should teach this racists to respect India first.

The maintenance of a skoda might be a little higher but its nothing compared to the pleasure one derives from driving it.

Most of the people who drive cars with controls on opposite side do not complain about it. I myself used to drive a maruti ealier but i never pushed the wrong control after switching to VW. Its all about habit and how alert you are when driving. Another thing, whether the traditional control found in other cars are Indian ? They are also copied from or borrowed from somewhere.

Agree. They may be several owners not satisfied due to few useless dealers. But just search the internet, you will find a lot of i20/i10 owners complaining about steering rattles, swift owners complaining about rattles/ clutch replacement at low mileage and so many service issues you will find with both market leaders i.e. maruti / hyundai.
Did we stop buying Maruti / Hyundai cars?
