Royal Enfield Thunderbird Booking Cancellation Experience in Bangalore

Hai Guys,
Today I got the cheque for Rs 5K for cancellation of booking, surprisingly it's a post dated cheque for one month.[surprise]
I give my cancellation request before two week and while asking to the counter lady she said- 'so many cancellation is coming, that's why'
Means total I have to wait for more than 45 days for my money.[frustration]

That's bad, will they accept PDC's for booking. I feel this purely the act of the dealers, and the name goes to the company.

Small update from my side (From my friend who using T350 new one).
It was all smooth before he gave for first service other than one problem. The KM set button was not working. They told they will replace in two weeks time as they do not have stock.
(IMHO That is not acceptable for a new vehicle)

The third day after service, he took it out and suddenly the light stopped working. Later started working. Self start failed to work. Engine stopped suddenly on very next day and was not able to ride.

He feels it is the service guys messed up the bike. He gave it for service again yesterday. Do not know the outcome of it. Just 600 odd km.

No wonder people say 'Do not service RE from their service center'.

I heard so many stories like this...So I take the decision....Luckily I go through some reviews in some other forums especially some guys from Punjab - I like RE but they are sleeping with a pearl in hand,even there sales department is not yet to the mark..-then think about the service dept?Today I heard - there is some pollution problem with the new bikes, I don't know more about that..

Is it due to these inexperienced service centers or manufacturing Issues? Since the need is more for RE bikes, I have a doubt that, they may not take care of the manufacturing division with reliable products.

14th July 2013? Going to book ? 4th July? [confused]

I have talked to many owners who had bought new Electra/Thunderbird/Classic etc. Nobody told the problem of Oil leakage etc.

The main problem is their service network. It is pathetic. And, you cant take your new one to outside the service network guys. You may loose warranty.

Second problem. Odometer issue in Thunderbird. Either it stops working, or the vibration. Few have even faced problem of non-working odo after a wash.

I may even change my booking to Electra if they do not address the problem in 3-4 months.

Another let down my RE

My friend's Self Start is not working. They said battery is gone. They tried recharging and it is not working. (One month old T350) ! Was really a surprise to me.

What surprised me even more when they asked a month time to get the battery from Chennai for replacement. Is that battery an alien ? It is not available easily? Remember - It is just a month old vehicle.

He is so soft. So he does not shout much. May be they are taking advantage? The set button in odo meter is not yet sorted out. They have to get the stock again !

By the time they get stock, his warranty period would be over.

No update these days , GNS? Love to see your update once in a while. Are you not taking it out because of rains?
I was bit busy these days. Though I used to login at least once everyday, wasn't able to find enough time to update my thread. Sorry for that.
As far as performance is concerned, I am completely enjoying my ride. Absolutely no major issues. Even no such issues with meter console.
Only two problems for me which still exists unresolved. One is that side stand switch and other is one bug in the meter console. Side stand indicator always glowing since my 1st service. Switch was damaged and I am still waiting for free replacement as they assured. Hopefully I can get this done at next service due in a months time.

Second, there is a bug in the meter console. Indicator for service due comes at every 500Km. We need to reset it very often sometimes I guess it comes even in a 300KM interval.

Other than these two, bike is awesome. No rust or fading after this heavy rainy season this year. Mileage keeps hitting average 38 kmpl. By nature, I used to spend at least half hour every day for cleaning my bike and Waggy. May be the reason for my TB shining inside and outside my heart. I have crossed 4480KM as of now.

And BTW, I have booked my Thunderbird finally! on 9th August, after a lot of thought process. Booking experience was pretty good and it just took 30 mins in the Brand showroom in Besent Nagar, Chennai. Will let you know my booking experience soon.

Congratulations GNS and everyone else who have booked an RE, sorry if you have cancelled.
I have booked one (TB350) for myself on 14th Nov 13. Waiting period 6-8 months.
Waiting period is something to really think over. I really dont think its worth to wait for such a long time. But if its RE you have no choice. I thought of setteling over something else like CBR 250 or something else, but if an RE is in mind you cant really calm down with something else.
Skay updated me that in chennai they are delivering TB in two months, which made me more excited about my booking.

@sbtrajesh I agree on the point of tubeless tyres. It really helps you when the rubbers run flat. I am still riding my 3year old Bajaj Pulsar 220F and the tubeless tyre has saved me several of times, and it still does. But it wont kill my passion for owning and riding the Thunderbird when i can fit a tubeless tyre aftermarket. Everyone has their own concerns about things and i really respect yours towards RE. Buy what you like not what the world likes.

@gns Since you have the same colour which i have booked, Twilight right?
Do you see the dark blue shade during days? I havent seen twilight in flesh yet. Test drove the flicker black.
