Well explained travelogue with excellent photographs, Mathew. It recalls my school days (Yes I was born and bought up near Padmanabhapuram and I had many relatives there just near the Palace. Don't remember how many times I visited the palace
..
Only worry is that they (kerala Government) is not doing proper maintenance of this place
(no renovation or painting done for long) but still they are getting a regular income by way of entrance fees collected from the visitors.
Only the Palace belongs to Kerala Government and other surrouding area belongs to Tamil Nadu government. May be this could be the reason for not getting any development and Palace still looks unattended..
Anyway, nice to see all these pictures again.!!
