I happened to speak to one of my friend in Delhi just now and he says it is 6 months in Delhi too !! so please check your certificates properly once again friends !!
Gurrala74: Rightnow: Its for 3 months only. TSIVipul: Thanks a lot buddy. I was curious for myself too while creating this thread. Though i was confused too. @ All FYI: it is valid for 6 months in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab & Chandigarh.
I was stopped by cops last night on nakka and i managed to escape as i was aware of validation of 1 year of pollution for new car. Thank you all guys. TAI saved my 100 rupees.
Hi all,
In kerala the cetificate is valid for 6 months and the penalty is only 100k. Main thing is the Police or RTO are not concerned of of reading. My Rx100 is not under permitted level but not fined es they are only concerned of the validity of the certificate.
Is this just a rule to satisfy the people who issues the certificate? ( it is a business, they earn money on one time investment on the equipment)
i have a question especially for Maruti alto800 owners, is it necessary to have a pollution certificate for a 6 month old car because few days ago i was with him during his 5k service and they did a pollution check saying it is compulsory to avoid the challan, i asked the service guy is it compulsory for all the new vehicle? and he said yes it is.
That really different from state to state and according to motor vehicle act of that particular state, so find out what is there for Himachal these days

Any new vehicles does not need to carry uptill one year of his purchase, though one needs to confirm if the state government might have made changes if the requirements needed.
I found this PUC thing useless and looks like a fraud scheme for some people to make money. I'm telling from my experience in Mumbai. There are mobile PUC centres (Omni vans parked everywhere) along the highways and major roads and they issue the certificate without checking. The guy will be sitting inside the van only, he just puts his head outside to see the registration no of your car and issue the certificate in 2 minutes. They charge 80 rupees for 4 wheelers and the certificate valid for 6 months. I am doing this for last 3 years and tried 3 different 'centres' - everyone does the same thing. Once I asked him to check/test my car, he was not happy and said the mechanic (testing guy) is not there. He was ready to issue the certificate.
