India-spec 2019 Nissan Kicks revealed

The India-spec Kicks retains the international model's muscular wheel arches, strong shoulder line, blacked-out pillars and the ‘floating roof', which is finished in eye-catching orange and features more prominent roof rails. It rides on smart-looking 17-inch alloy wheels, and at the back, it’s almost identical to the international model save for the chrome applique on top of the registration plate housing and a mildly reworked rear bumper. The fuel tank lid will also move to the right side on the India-spec model due to the different platform that underpins it.

Couldn't resist giving a face-palm reaction after seeing this highlighted

Lol

Should we call it a Creta competitor or Harrier or Jeep Compass

Engine wise it is Creta however size, features and price wise, might be Harrier or could be Compass

looks and stying is ones own matter and pretty subjective, still to me Harrier might be the winner in design, overall looks and size. Let’s see who will win the war in features department and the so called segment first fight

All in all a cut throat competition in the 5 seater SUV segment

One thing to note is that out of these only Harrier will/can go for the 7seater variant as well not Creta or Kicks. Or they will?

Nissan Kicks to get this 360 degree camera: Video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pL4FWP8LM1k#action=share

Though the infotainment system shown in the video may differ from the one equipped in the upcoming car, the interface and working will be the same. The 360 camera is a pretty nifty feature to have, especially during city usage. As seen in the video, the infotainment screen automatically gets divided into two parts as you slide the gear into reverse.

Nissan Kicks to get segment-first features

A closer look at the Kicks revealed in India shows the car is fitted with the same Around View Monitor 360-degree camera technology found on the international model. The system utilises four cameras (mounted at the front, back and on the outside mirrors) to provide a bird's eye view of the SUV, and it looks like this feature will be offered at least on the top-spec variant.

Nissan will also introduce a telematics-enabled smartwatch with the Kicks. Not only will it have the regular functions of a smartwatch, but it'll also let owners track information such as how fast the car is being driven at any point of time, the vehicle's location and could incorporate several other vital functions that already part of the NissanConnect app, available on all Nissan cars.

From what I understand the Kicks is Nissan's brand engineered Captur. It is based on the Duster/Terrano platform, but certainly looks more butch than Captur, thanks to the Nissan body language.
The interiors are much better in comparison to the Captur, but I think the key here would be the pricing. If they are planning to price it above the Captur, or even very close to the Creta diesel, I think it would be risky.
Nissan is a dying brand in India with ever falling sales numbers.
The Kicks does not bring anything new on the plate, be it the platform, or engine or even the basic car its repackaging.
The Kicks also does not have AT or AWD during launch. It has also missed out on the sun-roof which is one of the strong points for the Creta now.
While I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that this car will help Nissan get some numbers so that they can survive, however, I feel that this is going to be another Captur, which failed to capture the market.

I cannot agree more with you on this. Having said that, I believe it's stupidity to launch a vehicle from a dying brand in a very competitive segment without sunroof, AT. Nissan should try to fill in the gaps as per market feedback within next 5-6 months if they want some numbers from Kicks. Apart from this, a major overhaul is required to their dealerships and off course there dying products. Though I really wish success to Nissan. It's a very competent brand indeed.

I am glad they did not take over the Captur's infotainment screen. That is by far the worst ICE in the price bracket. Though they did take over the speedo console and the HVAC controls, it still feels fresher than the Captur's interior.
