Re: Mahindra Begins Development of Next Generation Scorpio (W105)

If M&M comes up with an "all new" Scorpio and retains the same body shell, I wont be happy. I expect an all new car to be all new.

A facelift with revised headlights and bumpers are fine, but when you are launching a new model and selling it alongside the older model, I expect that to be radically different.

So, irrespective of the hit design and the cult following, I expect the all new Scorpio in 2017 to be really different and not share the same old body panels designed in 2003!
Well thanx for the reply and response .

And in my post which was a reply to you which Superbad thought is my grouse .

I was trying to mention that since tata too will be revisiting the drawing board after 4 years who knows they might too change the whole look of safari storme too like the scorpio .

But for comming 4 years we have the safari and Scorpio retaining the same shape and style right ?

See " ALL NEW " have different meanings for example the range rover 2013 edition is all new its actually made of aluminum but the design stays same . Same goes with vw beetle too . Hence even on safari storme thread I maintained that all new can be the under pinings .

But I respect and appreciate your response and view point here .

Re: Mahindra Begins Development of Next Generation Scorpio (W105)

This claim ->
Which seems like its your assumption .

Dr Pawan Goenka seems to have different view then yours .

Mahindra & Mahindra's UV biz under serious assault as rivals plan several launches - Economic Times
he was saying this for the UV sector and not the scorpio in particular.

even the report has mentioned that duster had beaten the scorpio after which scorpio is still better with the duster w.r.t sales figures. off late

So you agree that the Scorpio will have the same decades old shape for 4 years right ? And how sure you are that the new Scorpio whenever it comes will have complete new desgin ?

.
you had the same expectations for swift , vw beetle , range rover , wagon r ? Dezire ? Or your expectations are limited to tata cars only ?

there have been all new honda city, honda civics, all new honda CRVs,
among suzuki grand vitaras which looked nowhere identical to the old ones.

there have been new VW jettas, passats, skoda octavias, superb which were all new along their timeline.

i cannot predict the what shape the scorpio will take in 2017. but surely will be disappointed if it retains the same old shape.
however we are talking too far ahead methinks.

Dint see you see the spy testing pics of Scorpio ? Is it hard to see that that the overall exterior shape stays the same ?
i still have not seen the final product, nor have i seen the interiors, the features set . anyways it wont matter(exterior design) for a facelift.

Scorpio comes in hatchback sector ?

No wonder because its the cheapest aspiring SUV in the market . ( Scorpio )

So are range rovers , beetle , fortuner , Mini Cooper , Bentley who have all retained the styling in their time line for a very long period .

And the very " Thar " which has still retained the styling of the old jeeps although being a complete new car . ( see the image attached )
So " ALL NEW " dosent allways means new shell design .

You are right , and till 2017 we will still play around with the same decades old Scorpio desgin ( btw which if refined interior and exterior wise will still look killer )

Do you think mahindra should have changed the design instead of carry forwarding the 50 years old jeep design ? And are you disappointed with that ?

i still have not seen the final product, nor have i seen the interiors, the features set . anyways it wont matter(exterior design) for a facelift.
Exterior only I asked which is shown in the picture clearly . btw you had also not seen the storme but were active in commenting about it .

will explain if you care to explain how a range rover, a vw beetle, or their likes need a mention in a scorpio thread.

They were mentioned to just show that a body shell change doesn't mean complete change over of the shape and style always for famous cult kind of vehicles . And its same the way you mentioned passat , Honda civic and superb in this thread [:)]

Actually iam surprised that some lack basic cognitive skills of seeing that the body shell is retained exactly the same in the spy pics [:)]

some including me find the storme face a step up from the earlier safari front inspite of the same body shell.

here in the facelift exercise the headlights are still not known(these are not the actual headlights), so the overall appearance is still unknown.

Good to know .

You are right , the headlights may dramatically change the look in spite of same body shell design of the Scorpio [clap]

Re: Mahindra Begins Development of Next Generation Scorpio (W105)

The Mahindra Scorpio has recorded sales of 400,000 units since its launch in 2002 and sales graphs show that it is getting better with age. Mahindra has sold about 50,000 copies of the Scorpio per annum over the last two years, meaning that a quarter of its grand total came during 1/5th or so of its lifetime.

The Scorpio has been refreshed majorly twice in its 11-year career.

Over the years, the overall looks of the Scorpio haven’t changed much and Mahindra has only refreshed parts such as the combination lights, the grille and the bumpers. While initially launched with a 2.6-liter engine, current Scorpios use a more modern 2.2-liter mHawk engine.

Just last week, Mahindra launched a special edition Scorpio that is limited to only 500 units. The limited edition Scorpio gets a 9-inch DVD player, ‘luxurious European’ leather interiors and a leather wrapped gear knob. That being said, Mahindra is working on refreshing the Scorpio with early test mules out on roads.

2013 Mahindra Scorpio Special Edition (limited to 500 units) was launched last week.

This is a very proud moment for us, as the iconic and trend-setting Scorpio has achieved yet another milestone. This achievement reaffirms the Scorpio’s immense popularity and the confidence that consumers have reposed in it over the years.

Mahindra Scorpio hits 400,000 sales mark since 2002 launch
Rightly explained above, the sales of Scorpio is still going steady [clap]and the scorpio lovers like the stance/exterior of scorpio. The only thing that scorpio lovers are expecting from Mahindra is to upgrade the aging interiors with some nice stuff (like XUV 5oo)[roll].

Re: Mahindra Begins Development of Next Generation Scorpio (W105)

  • Going by the images in the cyber space, there doesn't seem to be any significant change to the rear end, which I thought would have been looked into.
  • Though looks are subjective, the front design of the current Scorpio still looks better and up market than the competition.

Re: Mahindra Begins Development of Next Generation Scorpio (W105)

As per certain update/rumour in the cyber space, there are already a few new Scorpios/facelift, at the Nashik facility standing beside the Scorpio Assembly line. It says the interiors have been redesigned with way better fit and finish. Adding to that, the changes are not just superficial but to the mechanical parts as well.

Going by the scoop pictures posted in this thread, the doors appear to be unchanged.I assume the following changes in the facelift,

  • A modified existing platform with better suspension setup for better ride comfort and handling
  • Redesigned interiors with way better fit and finish
  • A couple of more features thrown in.
  • Better space management- more legroom
  • Probably a more powered m-Hawk under the hood.
With test mules spotted in Kerala and now in also Manali, expect the launch soon !

Re: Mahindra Begins Development of Next Generation Scorpio (W105)

@Manoj

Can you throw some light, Is W105 will come with Roof Mounted AC Blowers,
thats the only thing which is required top priority,

If its Face lift why Mahindra taking this much time to test they better to launch this festival season with XUV500 - W4.
