Hi Guys,

I am planning to buy the new Jazz (CVT V)soon and I would like to get your opinion and guidance for this process. I am a newbie here and I never had any vehicle of my own in India and recently came back from US, so I am very much new to this process.

So I went to the dealership to check out Jazz few weeks back and finally made the decision to pay the booking amount of 51,000 Rs last week. He promised me to deliver the vehicle by end of this month.
Price list SA gave me:

- Ex Showroom Rs 798500 + 5000 (added Rs 5000 for Golden Brown)
- Life Tax @12% Rs 96670
- Honda Assure (Compr) Rs 24962
- Honda Assure Nil Depr (Optional) Rs 6092
- Logistics and Handling Rs 6500
- Extended Warranty(Optional) Rs 7200
- Road Side Assistance(Optional) Rs 4670
- Essential Kit (Optional) Rs 3000
- Registration Charges Rs 3000

So here is where I would like to get your opinion
  • My family will be out of state, so I requested him to postpone the delivery to next month.
  • SA is pushing me to pay the down payment and apply the rest for loan this Wednesday. ( I think he just want to fill his quota for this month) BTW 5lacs down and 4lacs loan
  • I requested for Form 22 and he said that it will be available only after delivery. Is that true?
  • When will I know the VIN number of my vehicle or when can I request for it.
  • Is Honda Assure just an add-on to insurance.If yes, is Rs 24962 including the insurance?
  • Looking at the price list,please suggest the things I can opt out.I will do the registration by my own if it's not a lengthy process.

- Life Tax @12% Rs 96670 (yes to be paid- varies state to state)

- Honda Assure (Compr) Rs 24962 (yes it is comprehensive insurance to be paid, but one can opt for any of the insurance companies. It would be better if one opts from one of the insurance companies associated with Honda so as to get cashless claim(only have to pay claim charges as defined by insurance company)

- Honda Assure Nil Depr (Optional) Rs 6092 (Yes it is optional but it would be better to pay this amount so one gets total cover of damages.Even of plastic and rubber parts without any depriciation)

- Logistics and Handling Rs 6500 (Yes one has to pay)

- Extended Warranty(Optional) Rs 7200 (No. It can be paid anytime before the regular official warranty expires. Now with hondas new policy honda vehicles can be covered under warranty later also)

- Road Side Assistance(Optional) Rs 4670 (No. Not at all neccessary for new cars as new cars rarely breakdown)

- Essential Kit (Optional) Rs 3000 (No. can be opted out. one can get after market fitted if one requires.Only floor matts and mud flaps are needed)

- Registration Charges Rs 3000 (yes its local RTO registration charges and one can demand for official receipts received from RTO. Would be hassle free if one leaves on the dealer, but definitely one needs to do the followup if you are asking for selected registration number)

Correct me if I am missing anything.....

Thank you so much.This is very helpful
Tomorrow I am going to pay 5lacs cash and fill out the documents for 4lacs loan.Can I ask for the chassis number and VIN number(Form 22) during then or should I wait till the vehicle is delivered.
Also SA told me that I can only get Form 22 when the car is delivered.Is that true?

Sorry forgot to ask one more question
When I went to dealership for booking. I saw the car with MRF ZVTV( 175/65 R15 ).Is it any good?
Can you please suggest a good one in the same size if my dealer makes a fuss on warranty.
Also if I can upgrade do you prefer 185/65 R15 or 195/55/R16(If you have specific model in this one please suggest)[:)]

Once the total deal amount including margin money and loan disbursement is paid you can definitely ask for the car to be pre approved by you before registration to your name. You can check this at dealers stockyard where you can check the chasis number. Usually dealers are reluctant but this precondition has to be put from your side with dealers approval signature before any basic amount is paid to the dealer.(Apart from this topic I myself approved my Honda Amaze in the dealers stockyard before registration and this was a precondition put from myside.)

Regarding Upgrade of tyres..I would not recommend upgrading from company design size as this might be a call for a reason for the dealer or say Honda to not approve a part ot warranty defect.
About MRF ZVTV tyres, these are one of the best available, might be not the costliest available.Also check the spare tyre in jazz,all are 14 inch metal rim with higher profile tyres,all are of MRF brand even though the main four running tyres would be of any other brand.

MRF is good but Michelin tyres are better. Honda cars come with MRF, Goodyear and Michelin tyres from factory, depending upon internal stock. However, tyre size will be same.

Ask your dealer if he can provide Michelin tyres or a car that has Michelin tyres fitted from factory.

Usually, you cannot choice tyre brands so have to accept what it is fitted from factory. Some owners (i.e who have got MRF or Goodyear tyres from factory) upgrade to Michelin, Bridgestone or Yokohama tyres.

If you opt for correct upsize then it shouldn't be a problem but its better to do before using your new car so you can give unused tyres as buyback for good value or after existing tyres worn out and you want to buy new tyres.

I recommend up-sizing to 195/60R15 into existing wheels. My car came with Michelin XM1 175/65 R15 and will opt for new tyres as soon as existing tyres wear out. :)

*I do not know about the loan part as I bought my car (Brio) on cash. I paid the remaining amount (i.e. full payment minus booking amount) after the following process: (i) dealer intimated arrival of the car and sent me the VIN (ii) I got the VIN decoded to find the production month/year (iii) visited the dealership to check the car (iv) after satisfactory inspection, I got the quotation from the dealer which indicated the Car/VIN/Price (v) gave them the cheque. I think that full amount for the car should be given after you are satisfied with the car allotted to you.

*Once the dealer informs you that your car has arrived, ask him to send you the VIN.

*As stated earlier, road side assistance is not required for the initial years. Plus, you are buying a Honda, whose reliability is still quite solid.

Congratulations for the new car.

What is the allotment status for you? The dealer has already allotted a car or yet to or he has stocks for you to select?

Alright.

I don't know about loan part either but usually payment has to be made once you physically see the car you get/buy.

Now that you have made payment, ask them whether the car gets allotted from factory or you have option to select before its allotted to you. Check this thread if you haven't already.

Congratulations for the new car. Will be looking forward for your ownership reviews. :)

Do such an upgrade result in increased ground clearance ?[confused]
If so, is it possible to get 3-4mm increase ?
175/65 R15
Rolling Radius = 304.25mm
Circumference = 1911.66mm
Diameter = 608.5mm

195/60 R15
Rolling Radius = 307.5mm
Circumference = 1932.08mm
Diameter = 615mm

Differences between two Tyres
Rolling Radius = 3.25mm
Circumference = 20.42mm
Diameter = 6.5mm

When your speedo reads 100km/hr you're actually at 101.06 km/hr

You can see the difference in diameter but its when the tyre not fitted to vehicle.

When tyre is fitted to vehicle, things like vehicle weight, additional load, tyre air pressure shortens the difference. Its not much either to be concerned.

By tyre upsizing you will experience better ride comfort and decent grip.
