My cousin brought new grand i10 asta, after the price cut from FM, he got 10k discount and exchanged his old i10 petrol 88k odo with cng kit and got the exchange price of 2L.
Exchange your santro against new grand, its a superb car for city drives and occassional highways too.
Ask for loyalty bonus as well as exchange, even if there isnt any deals going nothings harm in asking for it.
I would suggest grand i10.
My cousins grand i10 asta came for 6.75/- on road.

I am late into this thread buddy !! Have read your requirements and members advice.

One thing is clear that all your family are habituated driving Hyundai, so you need something like Hyundai I feel where you should not regret later on by opting for a new one, so my suggestion is either go for a Hyundai one once again or go for the Maruti for city driving pleasure, easy driving, easy handling and maintenance. These are always no nonsense cars and proven and most of the women/girls prefer them. So my choice are

1. Grand I 10- new chicken in the market OR
2. A swift/Dzire/Ritz - you have mentioned about the sudden power in Fiat multijet engines, it is the diesel turbo kick which is differently tuned in Maruti as many of us like that power punch in traffic. Being a owner of Ritz diesel since past 2-1/2 years, it is really a no nonsense car in every way and fuel efficient, excellent engine and good on highways.
I said before ritz is noisy and I just won't buy a maruti :/

Thanks for prices update[:)] we haven't decided yet which car we have to sell. And sure i'll ask for the deals. And will tell them how sluggish is car market's today.

I10 asto(O) is coming 7 lakh+ on road[sad] 2 years back he rejected i20 just because he thought why spend 7 lakhs on a small car. Lets see.

have booked grand i10 TD for tomorrow

I'd suggest Figo. It handles superb, has nice FE figures, spares are not that costly, perfect size to zoom in city, bumper-to-bumper drive is less painful as compared to other diesel hatches as the clutch is not that stiff as say Punto, Polo etc. The cabin feels like a cocoon so gives a safe feel when inside. Not a fantastic highway performer but I guess it would not be used for that.

Get it in yellow shade, paint the roof glossy black, get matte black rims. [glasses]

I like the combination but I love figo in red with black alloys [:D] the problem I heard was of low GC. That's an issue. Anyways will check where is the sc and showroom and will TD it accordingly.

Couple of things i noticed-
6250 is exactly the same amount Classic Honda is charging for my City as logistics. So i guess all Honda dealers in NCR are charging same amount irrespective of what is the model.

I booked ecosport and the price list shared by the dealer had same 6250 as handling charge and since the list was printed both side one each for delhi & NCR it had the same handling charges, so i think this is standard what dealers are charging irrespective of the car models, one of my friend bought dezire and was having same amount in his price list as well for handling

Hyundai's charging 6990 for all the cars and they also added rubbish things as well.

Edit just saw deep hyundai price list. Prices are different :/

I've driven my friends Figo a lot. At couple of occasions with 7 people aboard and never faced any scraping. You already are driving Verna so I don't need to tell you about the art of crossing humps/speed breakers. Rest as per Ford, the new Figo has better GC.

[lol] Ford didn't launch any FIGO MPVs buddy, I am talking of our regular hatch. We were returning after playing cricket and had only car (a friend left early) so all stuffed into it. 2 in front passenger seat and 4 in back and I drove. Was a short drive of some 8-10 kms but never felt ANY serious loss of power or bottoming. Was seriously impressed with Figo post this.

a friend of mine has a figo and he reported that it scrapes very badly. maybe he drives fast over humps. will take a look at the ford site now.

Came Back after TD'ing the grand i10 for about 50 minutes[:D]

Dealer : Hans Hyundai , Kingsway Camp.
car was driven 7500 kilometers.

DSC_0033.jpg

Some of the positive Points :
1. super light clutch and effortless shifting.
2. Steering was a bit harder than any of my hyundai's which i somehow liked.
3. car was planted on un-level roads [clap] i was driving around 60 and the car was not going crazy at all.
4. easily reached 120 kmph. after that i thought there's no need for the car to go above this speed.

some of the negatives.
1. AC was not cooling as it should. like i said i drove the car for 50 minutes even then the car was not that cooled , although the blower was set at 1 for the whole time. will confirm this from other grand i10 users.
2. i just checked , difference between asta and asta option ex-showroom price is just 30000 but on road price is around 60000 rupees. because of the registration taxes being higher for a 6 lakh+ car. that's a lot for ABS and Airbags.

Other points:
1.logistics charges - the executive said that it's legal for them to charge this from the customers and said that supreme court ruling was just for a month. :|
2. he offered me free Essential Kit + Free PU leather covers worth 5000 rupees. 7500 loyalty discounts + some cash discounts which he'll offer on finalization. No Exchange Bonus. he also said wait for some more time , company will offer some discounts in the grand i10 as well.
