Very honestly I would suggest you to stick to your TAI handle - allhyundaicars. [;)] Grand i10 seems to fit in the requirements perfectly for your sister. Its the new car around, has all the new gizmos, drives pretty decently, decent fuel efficiency, plus you'll be dealing with the familiar Hyundai A.S.S. which I think you're pretty happy with. Overall practicality attached to this vehicle is immense.

Regarding other cars, being a Polo owner myself for almost 2 years now, I'll share my experience with it. The car hasn't troubled me even for a single minute till date. No weird noises, absolutely no niggles, the car is absolutely rock solid and more or less meeting my expectations of the German tag it comes with. The 3 pot engine takes a while getting used to as there is significant turbo lag, but when you do get accustomed to it, zooming past even the fast moving traffic is no big deal. Have just got one service done till date after completion of 1 year/15,000kms which costed me around 8.8k. Second one would cost around the same at the completion of second year which is due in April end for my car. Service costs are surely on the higher side, but I would say not by a great margin. Hyundai diesel cars have expensive service bills atleast of what I recall for the Fluidic Verna and i20 diesel. Petrol Hyundai's are still cheap to service. New Suzuki Swift diesel too has on an average service bill in the range of 5-6k and that too after every 10,000kms, so more or less its just the generalized notion of VW's being way too heavy on the pocket. I am not saying they are not, but the others are fast catching up in this department.

Test drive both the vehicles and see for yourself which one ticks more boxes as per your requirements. Both cars are really good in their own different ways.

@allhyundaicars Apart from the car you listed the remaining hatchbacks with diesel heart are Nissan Micra, Hyundai i20, Skoda Fabia, Chevy Sail UVA, Renault Pulse.

You can check out the Micra, its got a good diesel engine, turning radius is small, it is spacious and being Japanese car it won't be expensive to maintain. It also falls in you're range. And ticks most of you're needs. So its my choice then !!
renault pulse \Nissan Micra - i don't like the car and the service station is far off.
hyundai i20 - grand i10 looks like a better option if i go for hyundai.
skoda fabia - my friend have a petrol , the engine is so noisy , i can only imagine what it would be like to sit in a diesel.
chevy sail UVA - don't want this car.

1. Hyundai Grand i10.

+ve's
* Spacious car

-ve's
* You can smell the word cost cut. I felt seats are not supportive I got sever back and thigh pain after a travel of 40kms.
i have a verna too and it also lacks under thigh support but parents never complained. so that's not going to be a problem.

thanks for the reply gm88. like i said before 2 years back i considered polo but the gears were a bit odd. ( skoda has similar gears but i didn't have any problem) ofcourse the polo will be a leap forward in comfort , style. will surely go and check the car and will see if they give any discounts.

verna diesel service cost 5k , so i'm guessing grandi10's will cost 3-4k.

booked a TD of honda amaze. will report soon

Just came back Td'ing the AMAZE.

Dealer : Courtesy Honda , wazirpur , delhi.

i called them at 10:15 to arrange a TD and they were at my home around 11:15 [clap]
Car's color was a Carnelian Red Pearl and was driven 10000 kms.

Some of the Good Points :
1. NVH levels are not a deal breaker. But sure , at high revs engine was noisy. took the car upto 100 kmph in 4th gear.
2. Clutch and gears were super light [thumbsup]
3. Just for the sake of testing , i drove the car in second gear from standstill and i faced no problem nor i felt any jerks.
4. i'm happy that the sudden power jerk is not present in this car that one can feel in maruti's diesel (1.3 fiat engine)

now coming to the negatives.
1. Interiors are a shame. [sad] wasn't expecting such interiors and to make it worse it was dusty inside the cabin. Even the executive told me that honda's known for their technology and not the interiors.
2. didn't like the speedometer at all.

So coming at the prices. ( ex-showroom + registration + Logistics charges )

EXMT will cost around 695000 rupees without insurance ( since i'll opt for insurance from outside)
SMT will cost 740000 rupees without insurance.

DSC_0014.jpg

Extra :
1.what are logistics charges ?
2. he offered me 10k discounts. told me we'll decide after you have finalized the car.

Just notice how dealers try to fleece customers by adding unnecessary items in the cost sheet e.g. - Paint protection, RSA

My Sister's not comfortable with the santro anymore. so we are looking for a new car for her for city drive and one or two highway trips in 6 months.
Just close the eyes and get another Hyundai. i.e. Grand i10. You won't regret the decision. It’s one of the finest city commuters I have driven in the recent times. Although story is not the same when it comes to its highway performance but I don't think she would have intent to push it hard either. Here is the link to our official review: http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...nd-i10-diesel-review-test-drive-pictures.html. BTW Don’t forget to ask for loyalty bonus from the dealership.

Dealers charge this amount in the name of shipment of car to / from stockyard. But in real, it doesn't make sense and is negotiable. Supreme Court announced sometime ago that this amount is illegal but dealers continue to charge it.

Yes, Amaze interior is bland. Otherwise car is quite good and better than i10 grand.

Couple of things i noticed-
6250 is exactly the same amount Classic Honda is charging for my City as logistics. So i guess all Honda dealers in NCR are charging same amount irrespective of what is the model.

How much is the registration percentage in delhi? In faridabad it is 6% and 64k is the amount dealer has stated for the registration for my City and as i remember in Amaze it was around 40k. So double check it. I will be doing the registration myself directly via RTO so will save 7-8k at least.

Road side assistance was 2900 in the sheet i have. As its provided by Honda it should be same for all.

Paint protection and anti rust is optional and you can easily discard it,

seriously. i asked him why'd i pay for anti rust , he said no problem and told me about the things which are necessary and optional.

allhyundai- by all means I think the grand is a better deal in my personal opinion .
i guess so [:)] will consult with my dad today and report here.

once or twice it'll be used for highway trips and taking a petrol sedan will cost exactly the double but it's not going to be much of a problem. and i read the full review. thanks for the clarification 350z. will surely deduct this amount from OTR[evil]

i got 10k on my verna so i think will get the same amount on grand i10 too.

now i will not pay any handling or logistics charges to any of the dealer. i don't know about the % but from the cost sheet above i think it's 9.4% ( registration charges \ base price)

in delhi registration charges are higher that's why people buy from NCR regions like gurgaon etc.

Well Nissan Micra or Renault Pulse shares similar platform, where Pulse has little more advantage on Engine, Suspension and aggressive look. Both are really good City car, but Micra struggles on highways. Pulse is always a fun to drive car but lacks in ABS-EBD. I have driven Pulse Diesel top variant.

I would rather suggest a TML VistaTech if are interested in buying of these two.

You are planning to register from which RTO in Delhi? I’d appreciate if you can share experience thereafter because I’m thinking to do the same for next car from a while now.

Here is a related link for basic information: http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...getting-your-car-registered-yourself-rto.html.

I will be getting it done via faridabad RTO. I know a guy there who does all the formalities for me at a nominal fee. Plus i get to choose my preferred number from the available list which is a boon. I have been doing this for all my previous cars. For instance, when i bought Manza in 2010 it was from Delhi but got it registered at faridabad. Saved around 13k then.

Do let me know if your logistics charges are waived off.

For delhi percentage is 8.75%. So for ex showroom price of SMt mettalic which is 669500 the registration charge will be 58581 if you do it yourself. You can save more money if you get it registered at gurgaon or faridabad as Haryana percentage is 6% and so you will have to pay only 40170.

Dad doesn't want the vista and like I said above if it was bolt it would be a complete different story.

Wow that's a big advantage. For my verna I was given just 4 numbers to chose from at the dealer itself.

But how can I get the car registered in haryana? I think one needs to own property in haryana to get it registered?

Btw logistics charges are illegal why are you paying the same?

I don't think so. If that was the case how would the dealer get my car registered in Delhi when i bought it. i didn't own any property in delhi at that time. He was insisting on getting it registered via him in delhi itself as they make some money on registration.
To be sure i will suggest get in touch with the RTO of gurgaon. No harm in some leg shaking if it saves you a decent amount of money.

I didn't know logistics charges are illegal. When we bought our last car we didn't paid any extra charges as we knew the dealer. Is this confirm?

I am late into this thread buddy !! Have read your requirements and members advice.

One thing is clear that all your family are habituated driving Hyundai, so you need something like Hyundai I feel where you should not regret later on by opting for a new one, so my suggestion is either go for a Hyundai one once again or go for the Maruti for city driving pleasure, easy driving, easy handling and maintenance. These are always no nonsense cars and proven and most of the women/girls prefer them. So my choice are

1. Grand I 10- new chicken in the market OR
2. A swift/Dzire/Ritz - you have mentioned about the sudden power in Fiat multijet engines, it is the diesel turbo kick which is differently tuned in Maruti as many of us like that power punch in traffic. Being a owner of Ritz diesel since past 2-1/2 years, it is really a no nonsense car in every way and fuel efficient, excellent engine and good on highways.
