I drove Fortuner for more than 165 kms at a stretch during a Baraat, we had safari, Scorpio, Bolero (all started at the same time). First safari came after 50 minutes. Handling is very good but suspension is firm, ride is hard and road noise translates inside. Max speed I touched was 165 and could have gone beyond but I didn't.
How often you intend to take you beauty/beast off road, if not pretty often then take a thorough test drive (on all kinds of roads, all conditions) of Fortuner and Aria and then decide. Both the vehicles are very capable, road view is superb. Aria is a soft roader with off road capabilities

NOTE: I have not driven Aria, so comment on that front. TD both and take your call.

@cool.Hey mate you own an Aria right,I have a doubt to ask,how abt the ORVM how it is attached to the body?the small extension between the mirror and the body is it metal or plastic. In the event of side brush other cars would tend to give off the unit from the attachment near the pillar but in the case of aria its attached to the body so is it gona damage the body or the holding piece is strong enough to stay in the body and just leave off the mirror unit at that circumstance,,too much thinking right?
Aria's height is pretty good and there is very rare chance that its ORVMs will be hit by two wheeler in city traffic. [:D]

@brandoo thanks for the info.I dont or will never off-road.Max city driving and occasional highways. If in city it will be just myself and when it comes highways there may be 7 occupants so the ride should be well cushioned and not like a rottler and also not bumpy. Both Aria and fortuner sit on 17' wheels and can swoop pot holes and bad road but over a long stretch the car should not be dancing or waving in all directions or otherwise should be planted and move settled.Spacious cabin, comfortable occupant seats at rear, floating ride and long term reliability is what am looking for

TATA are pretty reliable but here there little bit small problem nothing much but i have kept safari for 6years and till then it never gave me any problem which made me regret my decision though i am regretting now :( my decision of selling safari away . i am already missing comfort of safari . Being TATA i am 100% sure expect very comfortable Ride atleast safari is good example .

Also you can see tata safari TCIC are still running if they weren't reliable then no one would have brought them .

When company give stock size they do make sure it won't disturbe the ride . As long as sidewall is greater then 55 expect less bone breaking ;)

In the end whatever you buy just buy it else its our brain which will always keep saying buy this that etc

Well we were 7 people riding fortuner and Imust say ride was planted but bumpy. My advise, when you go for TD, please take your entire family/friends and do a Back to Back TD.

Yeah its plastic only but as others said no worries , Aria is tall enough so no worries about bikers brushing your ORVM'S inside cities. I have never faced this issue so far in 7 months. Quality is also good enough , has the lasts long feeling.

@cool thanks for the info but still my doubt is-incase of brushing since the mirror unit is attached to the body door panel when it breaks off is it gona damage the body or is it like separate unit which can be replaced as in other cars

I am sorry buddy i have never experienced anything like that , the car is just 7 months old! I cannot answer that question but i think this should not be bothering you much , you should go ahead with the booking.

Most likely the entire frame of ORVM is separate from the body. Cooldhaya can confirm this after taking a closer look.

@cool Hey I have seen this review before when I was looking out for aria never knew its yours, anyway super cool it is.Hey mate I guess the ORVM is attached with inward screws and it looks same like linea.Others cars have thier orvm attached to the pillar and when it breaks the whole unit in changed but with aria I guess it should be taken extra care as with some strong brushing the whole unit gona come off and dont know if any damage is done to the slots holding the orvm, how they gona rectify.Sure bikes not gona bother but the share auto idiots are a mess,I saw yday an idiot breaking the side mirror of an pick up van,the top postion of the auto hit the mirror at that height
