That's Sad Bro. however as the coolant is splashed and you have put water again i just wanted to ask was the engine switched off when you poured water or was it kept on. if it was off when you poured water check if the head gasket is worn out and also check if there is any damage to the engine head. normally when there is a coolant splash due to overheating the head gasket wears out first to safe guard the engine. so please get that checked.

and just for info sake for everyone whenever there is a coolant splash and you are pouring in fresh water never switch off the engine.

I did switch off engine once I heard the alarm from speedo console.
It takes a good 5 - 7mins before I could ask everyone to get down, folde seats, unbolt six screws.
I am kind of disheartened with all this & in 2 minds on whether to retain it or not.

I just dropped the car for the overheating problem@ TASS - Emm motors, Banaswadi. Will have to wait & see what miracle they are going to do. I also bought a ELM327 bluetooth dongle.

Hi Anand,

Looking at the pics, it seems the radiator needs to be flushed, and all connecting rubber/plastic pipes changed, even if they are not kinked/abraded change them, and also the thermostat switch, being an old car I think these could be the culprits.

Regards

Vinod

Guys, had a second breakdown this time again with family, on kolar highway.

After the last time's breakdown, I gave the car to the TASS and asked them to check thermostat etc, the idiots took 2 days and managed to bill me 4000/- saying radiator fan is weak and coolant needs full flushing.

After spending that much money, the very next day another breakdown. Gues what this time it was worse, I had to drive close to 100kms in the afternoon with heater ON! I did visit a concorde service centre outside kolar, they had no part & no time to deal with me. Despite explaining the urgency of the situation etc.

I have made up my mind, to let this car go, so that I wont have to visit any TASS any more.
Cant see myself and my family stranded on every highway. The tass experience is so pathetic, I dont want to visit any of the TASS anywhere in the world!

That's sad Anand bhai....Why not take it the FNG way and get it rectified. I am sure Varun must be knowing some good mechanics in Bangalore. Please get it checked by them before taking the plunge.

Its the same story for TASS everywhere, they are useless!!

its sad to hear, i will suggest you to sell this car & buy some good condition car instead of spending on current car. After reading your post i too taking a close look on the engine over heat light on my nano but till now its running fine & coolant level is also normal. I wish i never face such issue

Guys, I sold the car yesterday to a dealer. The value I got was pathetic, but atleast name transfer is guaranteed hence I just agreed. Now no car buying plans for this month. It was hard letting it go this time, but then situation is such that I will have to spend about 15 - 20k over next few months to keep it in running condition (apart from heating issue). Which is simpley too much to spend on this car.

I would have surely retained the car if I had a reliable TASS/ fng who works on nano's.

But anyway learnt a hard lesson using a TATA product.
for now one thing is nailed in my mind - NEVER A TATA EVER AGAIN!

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. In fact surprised to hear Concorde motors didn't help you. They are supposed to be better.
If possible write to Tata Motors customer care and point to this thread. They should learn how they have turned a customer passionate about his car to hate it due to service issues. From my experience Tata Motors takes escalation seriously.

Really sad to hear such a good product getting such a bad treatment. I was happy to see that you as a DIY master got your hands on nano and I was also looking forward to purchase a used nano. But alas the horror stories of TATA ASS still continues. I hope any Tata executive is following/finds this thread because if Tata service doesnt improve, no matter what car they launch be it tiago or anything else, they gonna keep getting lower at the sales chart.

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with Concorde. Mine is a used one 2011 model and have odo reading 46000~K now. Have driven from Chennai to Coimbatore then to Kerala, does not heat up much.. I usually get the work done with the help of known mechanic. Sometimes feedback from service center differs but i would say its a better decision to sell since it might cost you more to maintain down the road since the vehicle was running low on coolant, there is a chance that associated components might have worn. I sometimes use Bluetooth OBD device to check the coolant temp, in the city it hovers between 93-100 and the fan kicks inn when it comes to 100, have not checked in the highways.
