My Thar P AT 4x4 took us for a 1412 km-long ride of Bangalore>Goa>Bangalore during 30 Nov - 3 Dec 2024. We breakfasted at Ganesh Hotel near Hubli, went via Mollem and returned via Honnavara. I visited my erstwhile residential quarters, where I lived 20 years ago on our way to Bangalore. Now, Thar's odometer reads 24 k + in 2 years.

My Thar P 4x4 took us for a 812-km long ride of Bangalore-Mysore-Bekal-Muzhappilangad drive-in beach-Mysore-Bangalore during 28-31 December 2024. My previous visit to Muzhappilangad drive-in beach was in 2015 by my erstwhile XUV 5OO. Another state, Kerala [KL] has been added to the list of states/UT my Thar visited, making the total to 16.

Today, I enjoyed driving my Thar at 120 kmph (official max speed limit) on Nehru ORR, Hyderabad for about 50 km distance after a long time. I ignored the continuous beep and drove.

My Thar P 4x4 took us for a 1,629-km long ride of Bangalore->Chennai->Hyderabad->Bangalore during 15-26 January 2025. Had petrol at TN [Chennai (100.80/litre)], AP [Nellore (109.72)], TG [Hyderabad (107.46)] and KA [Chikkaballapura (103.08)]. The lowest being TN and the highest, AP. Enjoyed driving Thar at 120 kmph [official max speed limit] on the superb Nehru ORR both to and fro Hyderabad after a long time.

Drove Hyderabad to Bangalore yesterday with 11 kmpl of petrol. Maintained 120 kmph on Nehru ORR and 80 kmph on NH. Drove more than 473 km in one tankful. I tried cruise control at 120 kmph. But it disengaged automatically after a couple of minutes and couldn't resume it again. So it was 'foot on the pedal' only on Nehru ORR. Last time also it happened. I set it at 120 kmph speed by pressing the 'set' button. It worked for a couple of minutes then deactivated itself. I tried at different speeds like 110, 115, etc. same story. But it worked flawlessly at 100 kmph speed. But, the owner's user manual does not specify any maximum speed limit for using cruise control. Only minimum speed is mentioned in the owner's manual. I will get it checked during the 30 k km service. Maybe it is a safety feature.

Surprised to see this in my petrol Thar during my today's Bangalore to Hyderabad drive.

My Thar had tankful of petrol at IOC coco at Hitec city, Hyderabad. The tankful to tankful fuel efficiency was 13.11 kmpl. First time for my Thar. I maintained 80 kmph with cruise control from Bangalore to Hyderabad.
Except at Nehru ORR where I maintained 120 kmph.

Nice review and travelogues Mr Ravi, kudos to you for keeping up the riding/driving spirit. I first read your Thunderbird review on Teambhp, even interacted with you for some of my queries regarding the motorcycle, bought a Classic 350 reborn during the launch month September 2021, and I am really enjoying it. I also liked the Thar, but the two door could not fulfil my needs, as I frequently travel with my family. When the Thar Roxx, was launched, I knew that I will be getting it, took the test drive, liked it and booked the AX7L 4x4 with mocha interiors on the day they started the booking, 3rd October 2024, around 5-6 days back, got a call from my dealership, that the vehicle is going to be billed from the factory, but now my friends and relatives are discouraging me to get the Thar Roxx, saying that it is not a comfortable car for long drives, for tall persons, I am 6 feet, but seeing your pan India drives in the 2 door Thar, it doesn’t look like that. What do you say? Also most of the reviews say that the Roxx has a better suspension than the 2 door Thar.
Another thing is I recently drove a Thar Roxx on a concrete highway, the tyre pressure was around 34-35psi in all four tyres, compared to the recommended 32psi, I found the ride quality too bouncy on the concrete 4 lane highway compared to my present car, by the way I presently own a Creta 1.6 diesel manual transmission.
How do you find the ride quality of your Thar on concrete highways. Thanks.

Thar Roxx, saying that it is not a comfortable car for long drives, for tall persons, I am 6 feet, but seeing your pan India drives in the 2 door Thar, it doesn’t look like that. What do you say?

I test-drove Thar Roxx and fell in love with it. I am also a six-footer and I found it quite comfortable during that short test drive. I do regular long drives in my 3-door Thar without any problem.

Also most of the reviews say that the Roxx has a better suspension than the 2 door Thar

Yes. Thar Roxx is euipped with frequency-dependent damping [FDD] similar to ScorpioN and Compass. I could feel the ride comfort during my short test drive, which was far better than my 3-door Thar.

How do you find the ride quality of your Thar on concrete highways.

Being a sub-4 m ladder-on-frame boxy and tall vehicle, my 3-door Thar is bouncy. No doubt about that. But, I keep the tyre pressure at 30 psi to reduce the bounciness and body roll.
