Re: My New Storme LX a.k.a CARBONADO

Hello VikyJoshi,

Congratulations for CARBONADO, black colour on this beast looks awesome, My beast has covered close to 10K and its running like butter (yes, there were some issues earlier which are not fixed and as of today my white elephant is completely niggle free)

Regarding the accessories:

1. Fog lamps: No one in TASS has any idea about it, some says the parts have not reached to them, i have asked TASS to fix the fog lams couple of times but no solution till date, let me know if you can get it fixed in CARBONADO but get the same fitting (e.g. switch) like the EX varient.

2. Clock: Again TASS is clueless if analog clock (like same in EX varient) can be fixed in LX model, again let me know if you get this, i am also looking forward to install the clock.

For rest of the accessories like reverse parking guide with camera, seat covers, mats just check my thread http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...safari-storme-comes-home-dream-fulfilled.html, it might help you.

Again have millions of happy miles with your CARBONADO [:D] and do keep this thread alive with more pictures and your experience.

Thanks Mukesh.

I was told be the sales agent that LX already has the same switch and internal circuitry as the higher variants. All they need is to fix the fog lamp. Its the same switch that you need to rotate for turning on headlights. Needs to be pulled outside . Once the front lamps turn on, again further, the rear ones turn on. you push and they get put off.
While buying, I was told that Service Center has them and cost around 1300 per piece.

For Reverse I have enquired at one of the stores. the Autocop analog sensors with a display to fitted over rear view mirror is been quote around 3.8K.

My other plans are around putting 3M paint protective films for complete car surface. (on recommendation by Gurrala74). I have seen the site and feel that it is a must have on the car.
I referred to this link below from motorbeam .com
3M Paint Protection Film Review | MotorBeam – Indian Car Bike News & Reviews
Seems to be a good thing for the car.

Can any one tell me what is the outer surface area for Storme? Should I consider 150 Sqft? one the reported link above the cost is around 450 per sq ft.

I am fine as long as the cost is under 6k. Will be checking that today on my way back home after office. Will update on the same.

Re: My New Storme LX a.k.a CARBONADO

Do read the link you posted sir, and also i had visited the 3M showroom for enquiry about my i10 and the same details i have posted as well on my ownership thread.A car like say hatchback my i10 or swift as posted on the link you shared, it would cost atleast above 10k, and that tobe on front and rear bumpers.
These tapes are also applied on bonnet, all the four doors as well and would cost you way way more.

Re: My New Storme LX a.k.a CARBONADO

@Vicky

There are two things in 3M if I am not wrong

1. Paint protection treatment
2. Paint protection film

So choose either one of them according to your budget and quote from 3M, both are good and have their own advantages. Just visit 3M store and the guy explains you clearly

Re: My New Storme LX a.k.a CARBONADO

ODO reading 350KM,
===============
Finally got some time off on the week end. I did the following additions in my Carbonado.

1. Autocop, reverse sensors (with LeD display)
2. 3M Mats
3. Fitted with 100/90 Philipss cool blue headlights

What I could not do
1. Fog lamps. I had been to Concorde motors authorised spareparts and service center. Though they had the fog lamps, the Storme LX does not have the wiring that is enabled for fitting fog lamps. It called for making holes here and there and fitting additional switches for the same. I was not interested in doing any damages to the car. Hence dropped the idea.
2. The console watch, again same thing, cannot fit the watch in the console.

@Mukesh, I stand corrected, we cannot fit Fog lamps and watch in Storme LX. it is not possible but tampering with electricals is required which TASS will not do.

I also enquired about the 3M Paint protection film. it costs a whopping 70K. @Vijay, you were right, I had made a mistake in multiplication.
They had couple of packages, for Storme, front and rear bumpers and door edges, and rear view mirrors. This costs around 17K incl of taxes.

they also have a wash and polish package costing around 8K. All they would do is wash the car clean and apply some coat of liquid which protects the car color from UV rays.

Have not yet taken any decision on it.

Attached are some interior pics of my beast. Hope you like it.

@vicky nice pics and tempting rear view. You could have added the pics of those modifications you have already done.

Yes 3M packages are bit expensive, but people say they are worth too. Since the area of the Storme is more the price seems to be bit high.

It is bit surprising that the fog lamp wiring is done done till the end. It i available in models like Vista and Manza too. For me it was just plug and play.

Why did Tata decide to use a 15 year old design for Odometer/Trip meter on Storme too.

Re: My New Storme LX a.k.a CARBONADO

Congratulations on this beast of a machine. The stock interiors look really nice, dual tone seat covers.Color matched interiors look great.

3M underbody protection is a must, they have two packages based on the thickness of the finish. The thicker coating comes with 5 year warranty and the thinner one for 2 years warranty. They have checkups every 6 months and any peel in the coating is done by them free of charge.

If the higher variant comes with Fog lamps then it will be plug and play, unless tata went to great lengths to do some cost cutting. Why not ask the TASS to check the wiring, if it is present, then you can simply buy the foglamps that come with the higher variant and fit them in.

V-kool has a paint protection plan too, might be worth to check it out and get an idea of the process.

Thanks jarpickle. Infact i have like the fabric seats so much that I am thinking if I should go for the seat covers? The dual tone fabric seats match very well with the interiors.

Will check that out. However, TML guys said that they have already done the underbody treatement and is valid for 20 months.

Infact I had visited the TATA Authorised service center. the guy in charge ofthe service came over to my car, had a look at the stuff and finally commented, that fog lamps cannot be fitted on the LX model. The wiring is very different in LX and higher models. Personally i cannot buy that statement as thinking logically it makes no sense. However will take up later some time. Right now I am not missing the Fog lamps.

Will check that.

Since his vehicle is in Hyderabad, under body coating is not compulsory due to the weather conditions and 95% of vehicles run without this. All the dealers here pressure us to get this done to earn more bucks. Yes it is must when the vehicle is driven in coastal areas.

Yes V cool may be a good idea too as 3M is always expensive[:)]

Re: My New Storme LX a.k.a CARBONADO

Wow some nice set of pictures, though i am very much fond of the old styling safari with butch looks it gives with the spare wheel mounted at the rear, but i loved this rear end as much. Its a nice neat clean yet sporty look that the designer have put across.
Few of the things would have been great
1, why they still cant work on the hinges tobe seen out like that on a 10L plus vehicle
2. Why did they stopped giving rear wipers on lx variant where they used to before, does it cost that much high to give back again in newer better version[anger]

If you plan to go for the underbelly treatment opt for 3M one, its way better then other companies offering and works to a great extent with warranty and workmenship they offer on cars. But most of the newer cars comes with the coating from company itself.
