Hello Friends,

Sorry to interrupt but I have got a new shark fin antenna and this time a very suitable one for my car so just wanted to give details here.

Previously I had got shark find antenna which had flat base but due to curved roof surface of my car, it would sit like boated. Applied multiple layers of 3M tape and managed for several months but it looked ugly and also water used to clog in edges after washing or rain.

I know most of you have got shark fin antenna suitable for Honda City or a some small size antenna as suggest and used by Dr. MUDHAN.

Well, I could have followed either but my nature is to go off-road so not all destinations would be as expected. However, I gain experience which is never forgotten. I share it here so one can reach correct destinations.

Anyway, I dig'ed more about shark fin antennas and understood that there are two types of bases. One is flat which is suitable for hatchback's and SUV's, i.e polo. The other is curved base which is suitable for sedans. Under these types, you may find different dimensions. FYI, The flat base antenna is 0.5cm taller and 0.5cm longer then curved base.

One seller in aliexpress had both types of bases. He confirmed it would fit to my car and I thought to try it. Received the item with little as 25 days of wait and checked it rightaway. Fortunately, it sat evenly with only a mm of gap here or there. FYI, previous one had atleast 4mm gap in front or back.

Overall quality is good as well as paint finish. Colour matches very well to my car (Polished Metallic). The antenna pcb has plastic supports (You can see in pics) but in previous one, it was hot glued. Wire is good as advertised and I have noticed better radio reception. Finally I'm satisfied and would recommend it.

Tip: To check the surface of roof, hold a scale (edge touching to the surface) parallel to the original antenna and you'll know whether the roof is curve or flat. i.e as shown below:

Yeah it suited very well.

I always upload my car photos to my Google Photos account. You can check the same here. Last three shots (17th Jan 2016) are taken after fixing the new antenna.

I own a 2012 Honda City. I would like to know if anyone has ever thought of installing plastic wheel arc liners for the rear wheel. The rear wheel area, as marked in the image is a major eye-sore, and easily accumulates a lot of dirt. The edges are too sharp. There is a chance one could hurt himself while cleaning the area.

Current and previous gen Honda City owners have you thought about it? I feel it is a necessity. I am thinking of buying wheel arc liners from some other manufacturer and install it, as Honda doesn't provide the same. This is cost-cutting at its best. Has anyone done it? If yes, do share your thoughts. Installing the covers will:

1) not allow dirt and water to accumulate on the metal area. No rusting issue.
2) allow cleaning of the rear-wheel area hassle-free. No more injuries.
3) enhance the look of the car. Currently without covers, it looks pretty bad. At least to me.
4) bring down road noise to some level.

Is it possible, or am I missing something here? Guys please share your inputs.

Hello friends,
Today i got the wheel center cap for my new alloys,i choosed the black with silver pattern, cause i think that colour is suitable for my alloys.i been trying to get those wheel cap in india but i didnt find any good one,then i went to ebay and found a beautyfull wheel cap for 20$.
There was two types of caps,one was universal type and you have to get honda sticker saperate and paste them on cap,another type which comes with honda logo,i dicided to buy which comes with honda logo and that seem like factory fit.stickers maybe a chance to get damage in future so i avoided the sticker type.
Its 60mm size which i made conform before place order,otherwise there will be a chance to get wrong size,some wheel caps comes 68mm.
Atlast its came to my door today via indian post and not charged any custom duty,once again iam lucky :)
My father took the car to tyre shop (I am out of station for two months )and he did a great job within 10 minuts, looks great.

Hello doctor and friends,

Today i orderd LED mirror cover for my honda city,its little different than our doctor bought (shape of signal light).i been searching everywhere for this kind of led mirror cover and found few in aliexpress and ebay.com,but price is morethan 100$ everywhere,well i was keep looking and today i found few sellers in alibaba site and they are wholesale sellers there,one seller told me he can ship minimum 10 set only,but i told him i need a sample set for check the quality,atlast he agreed and told me he can give me one set for 75$ include EMS shipping,i was thinking that is a good offer and i agreed,paid 75$,he assured me its a best quality mirror cover.
Anyway compare to other sites price its a good deal because i didnt seen anywhere these kind of mirror covers below 100$,i think our doctor is lucky,he got his LED mirror cover for around 50$,but now a days its not available anywhere on that price.
Seller told me i need to spray paint black colour,i noticed in alibaba sites there is lots iteam cheap than aliexpress(Though both sites are alibaba group) but in alibaba mostly you didnt get any iteam for single piese,well if you try to find a seller and keep asking to him for single piese they will agree sometimes if you are lucky,anyway my seller agreed after a long talk.
Waiting for my LED mirror cover,little bit worried about custom duty,lets see.
Doctor if you have time please share how you installed the cover, did you remove the glass part with screw driver? I think first we need to unlock the mirror from shell,please if you have time just explain the procedure,i seen few videos and got an idea but i just want to make sure how it will do on honda city.

I understand your feelings and that’s why I searched my original Honda RV Mirror outer shell / cover to make you understand that it is simple. No need to touch the glass part.

The original outer mirror cover has got a space / lock opening to insert the screw driver to lift it out.

My electrician did it in normal room temperature and it was little bit difficult and needed extra insertion of screw driver tip in other places.

If you can heat it little warm (not hot) the periphery of the cover by a hair dryer, it will be easy for you to make it out.

Electrical connection, as you know he has to link to the fender indicators on both sides.

Yes, I am really lucky to get a beautiful LED indicator cover at that price and quality and still look brand new. Of course, I removed the led strip and painted neatly and then fixed everything.

Since you have ordered / shipping via EMS , the courier fellow will sincerely pay 30% custom duty and recover from you. So, mentally prepare for it. Don't forget to request the seller to quote reasonably less value on the pack.

Have you tried at Delhi? Some say , it is available cheaper there than on line price.

Thanku so much doctor for your detailed explanation with picture,now i got the idea how to open the cover, i was confuced about that because in some youtube video they showing in another way of instalation like remove first mirror from shell then push out the cover etc...
Iam really thankfull to you for such a good replay and explanation of instalation.
I have one more doubt,Electric wire go under the door panel?
Yes doctor i think they charge this time tax and iam prepared for that mentally,lets see how much they charge.
I didnt tried in delhi for this cover and didnt get any information from anyone about that its cheap there than online.

My electrician opened the front door pad and got the cable link from fender indicator and dismantled the base/ stalk of the RVM and inserted the wire through the channel hole along with other wires (which gets inside to tilt the mirror from our door pad switch) and snapped the new skull with LED indicator to set everything perfect.

Thanku so much doctor once again for the awsome explanation with pictures,its really helped me to get a perfect idea for install the led mirror cover,always good getting some new information to avoid mistakes,sometimes the electrician also do mistakes,so if we knows the right way to install we can explain him how to do in proper way.
I think doctor you like chrome stuffs lot,as i can see the chrome part around the led light of mirror,door guard,door handle etc..
I liked your tweeter box on A piller, its really looking like factory fitting, i bought one tweeter box for my A piller one month ago,i think mine is little different look like not projected tweeter out,perfectly fit inside the panel,i bought from aliexpress and got it in my door last week,almost took one month to get in my door,again not charged any tax,i still didnt install my android set and tweeter box,once i fixed everything i will post more pictures.

Yes, it is better to be careful with Auto Electricians and most of them appeared to be hyper active, try to cut anything as they like.

I like chrome accessories, but carefully choose as not to be over dosed. This design on my side RVM is original on the LED area and I have not added anything more.

My twitter on A pillar is OE , added at the time of delivery of the car and I have paid Rs. 6000/- ( ) . Actually, I did not think & expect during that time that there would be a possibility to get exactly matching one as you got it today. Yes now, you can get a best twitter with active crossover kit.

Yes you are right some electricians are hyper active,so we always carefull about that,iam planing to install everything in honda showrrom and i know a guy there who working in accessories department,he told me to bring all accessorys here to install, i think that is safe,i dont wanna some one handle my car rough way.
I got this A piller tweeter box from aliexpress,i paid 2680K include shipping via Hong kong post (will be a slight different cause of Doller value)i think its okay for that price,though its not easy to find in indian market.
Yes doctor your led mirror cover same like orginal,mine is little different shape of led part,but i think that would be a different look when install on my car,lets see,i will post pictures after installed the cover.
