Hello Friends,

Finally I got new set of tyres for my car today evening. Had to wait for few days for tyres to reach local dealer from importer/distributor after placing order. Shop workers were trustworthy and expert. They took 2 hours to install, do wheel balancing and alignment. They did no hurry while working and verified everything when done. I'm glad I went to this shop to buy tyres. [:)]

Wheel valves were not good so they replaced them to new chrome valves. Previously I had noticed air loss often so its good that they have reminded.

They didn't gave me warranty card and I forgot to ask. Only got tax invoice of tyres, WB/WB and Valves. Said this would be required when claiming warranty so keep it safe. @Jijomthw, Did you get warranty card for your new tyres?

As of MFG date of tyres, 3 tyres are 12 16 (Means March 2016) and the other tyre is 04 16 (Means last week of January 2016). I was more concerned about this and its good I got 2016 tyres.

By the looks of the tyres, my brother says I have got formula 1 tyres. [:D] This is actual size that should have provided by Honda. Ride quality has become better now but I need to drive more to notice the difference. I felt little bumpy ride when returning home so I checked tyre pressure and they had filled 40 PSI! So I have removed some air and set all tyres around 32 PSI, which is recommended by Honda for OE tyres. Is it correct?

Price break-up:

Tyres: - Rs. 6150 for each x 4 = Rs. 24600
Valves: - Rs. 150 for each x 4 = Rs. 600
Wheel balancing including weights and wheel alignment: - Rs. 900

Total: - 26100

Will test drive tomorrow to see the difference and also take few snapshots and post them here. [:)]

Thanks...
Best Regards

When I purchased my tires couple of years back, I didn't get warranty card. Dealer had registered my mobile number with Michelin so I received SMS from Michelin with digital warranty number that I have kept at safe place.

Great!!!

Prices have certainly gone up

I put my tyres in January 2015

195/65 R15 Cost me 5800/- per tyre (total Cost - Rs.23,200/-) With Lots of Negotitations [:D]

195/60 R15 was still cheaper.

I got New Chrome Plated Valves free.
Also Aligning and Balancing with Weights was done free by the dealer.

You should have shown him Online rates from Snapdeal of 6000/- per tyre.
He would have certainly given you the remaining services free of cost. [:)]

Just asked this to dealer but he said tyres doesn't come with warranty card and registration is not required. Bill is sufficient and that will be required when claiming warranty. If there is any kind of manufacturing defects then he will send the tyres to Bangalore and that will take a week to verify.

Seller and his address is listed in Michelin website (Tyre Park) so I don't need worry about warranty. However, I will call Michelin toll-free number later and see if I can register my tyres.

Yes prices have increased now and in small cities negotiations are difficult due to less competitions. I did tried to negotiate before placing order and also after making payment but seller was firm with the pricing. Said actual price is 6.4k and he is giving for 6.15k.

Negotiation would be possible if I had bought stock tyres like XM3 but Primacy 3ST were specially imported for me only so I didn't mind the price quoted and it was same as Jijomthw paid. At first they were not ready to get me one, instead tried to force me to buy XM3 but my decision was firm and the distributor agreed to send me the tyres. [:)]

You know, all the workers and customers were surprised to see the tyres and being fitted to my car. As if they didn't see them previously. [:D]

@CRACING, I think u can find better deal online... like amazon or snapdeal for tyres.
I checked online stores but I preferred to buy locally, that way I can check the tyres thoroughly (including MFG date) and if any issues, dealer can arrange another piece. There shouldn't be any problem with online purchase either but incase of issues, it just takes more time to resolve.

In online stores, some won't ship to my location and some have listed for less price but delivery charge extra so total cost would be same as local stores. Amazon says free shipping on product listing page but when checkout, they charges extra. i.e Rs 500

OK, I got the photos of my car after fitting the tyres. DR. had requested me to share my car photos here but I hesitated because my car exterior condition is not good. Has lots of scratches, paint chips and dents. First owner didn't drive the vehicle carefully and I was blind when buying the car (Focused more on internal parts and performance). My city road and traffic condition is too bad so be it any car on road, it will have scratches and dents. I tried to repair as much as I could but it needs repainting to become perfect. I had to decide between repainting (Front & back bumper, trunk and etc) and tyres replacement but I went for new tyres because its the important thing. Repainting can be done later or whole car repainting after few years would be better idea.

As of tyres, I have started to feel the difference. Handling has got better, Wheels move smoothly on uneven roads (Previously I used to upshift and downshift often), Mudflaps have stopped hitting humps (As you can see, I have flexible mud flaps which are fitted lower then OE mudflaps and these used to hit on every humps but not anymore) even though GC has increased to just 3mm, Tyre noise has reduced and on new roads, they are almost silent, no more bumpy ride after reducing tyre pressure to 32/32. Still have to see how they perform on highways and when full load.

*Photos are taken from my Nikon D3200 with AF-S DX 18-55mm VR II lens. Even at F5.6 aperture background is so much visible. Did little post processing to improve exposure and photoshop to replace the number plate.

Thanks...

I spoke to michelin yesterday

Warranty can only be activated online from the dealer end

So I went and informed the dealer as he had forgotten to activate it when I purchased the tyres.

He started the warranty from 01st June 2016.

So I now have another 3 full years of warranty on my tyres [:D]

Same here. Contacted Michelin customer care and they said registration can only be done from dealer as it requires dealer code.

Local dealer says bill is sufficient and no registration is required. Same is said by distributor Bangalore. Also warranty card was being provided few years ago and not anymore.

May be I'll have to depend upon local dealer for warranty issues. [roll]

If he is not a registered dealer with Michelin then he won't be able to provide the digital warranty online.

Take up the case with Michelin customer service if he is refusing to provide you digital warranty.

Shop address is present in Michelin India website so as per this PDF document he is a authorized dealer. Dealer is not just present in my city but also in many places of India. They have their own website too. Tyrepark - Cherry Agencies

But I don't know why seller isn't cared about warranty registration. He acts as if there is no such thing or he doesn't know about it, Even the guy in Bangalore. Customer support on toll-free number were not helpful, just said to contact dealer. Now I have contacted Michelin India in facebook but I doubt they'll help me either.

Anyway, I'm not much worried about it because incase of any issues, dealer gonna help me. Though I have faith in tyres that they'll last longer without issues. [:)]

PART XXXVII:

MY ALBUS GETS NEW & NEWER TYPE WIPER BLADES!

HELLA DynaEdge Wiper Blade

Research is on Windshield Wipers, may be replaced by a new technology which aims to shake off the water on the windshield using ultrasonic vibrations. The elimination of the wiper will also reduce the weight of the car not so much but still sufficient to make it fuel efficient as the wiper motor assay is one among the heavy component of the car.
.
Hello,

Very nice post for wiper blades Doctor.
As i am looking for wipers for my car, i have read your post for help and got very good information.
As per your suggestion tried to look for HELLA DynaEdge Wiper Blade which you have bought but unfortunately not able to found out on any online sites. On snapdeal its out of stock.

Also i think hella has changed the design or name of the wiper. On many sites I have found Flat blade type wiper under the name of Curvo. On Hella's site also its mentioned as Curvo not mentioning about DynaEdge.

Hella Dynaedge Curvo CAR Wiper Blades SET OF 2 Honda Jazz 24 X 14 Inches | eBay

For more information drop message for Ebay seller as wipers are mentioned for Jazz, nowhere for City. Although size is same but still want conformation.
