Let me check with my friend's City for spacing and get back to you.

The top center of the rear glass would be the place, I would fix. Only disadvantage will be that the head lights of vehicles would not focus so high and the reflective effect will not be there when it is dark.

If it fits below the no. plate on the boot door, it will reflect great when dark. Or below the rear view camera.

Hmm I too thinking of that place. But in that case I need to change white to black since it is a white car and it will lose the reflective effect.[confused]

Recently my Vista's remote key stopped working. Took car to TASS. Advisor said the cell inside remote lock is exhausted and asked me to change. You can change those batteries at any local watch repair shop. Your warranty will NOT be void. chill! [glasses]

If the coin cell is dead the red light will not light up when you press any key in the remote.

It is very easy to change the coin cell. The coin cell used for this remote is CR2015 - 3V.

Remove the screw on the remote and gently pry the top portion off the key.

You will now see the coin cell under its bracket.

Slide the old coin cell out of the bracket and slide in the new coin cell in.

Snap the cover back in place and fasten the screw back.

Takes only 2 minutes.

Thanks simha. I also suspected the remote cell dry issue.

Yes. The red light doesn't light up when pressed any key.

Thanks HR . I will try this and change battery. I use remote very less because I drive very less only. Also I used the keys alternatively. 1 month once i use the other key. The battery in one remote died so quickly.

Does that mean that the transponder in the key does not require any power? Or is Tata fooling us about the engine immobilizer feature?[thinking]
I think Transponder doesn't need battery power. Otherwise engine would not have cranked. Or as you have raised a doubt about TATA fooling us about immobilizer we have only one option to check it. We need to make a duplicate key from my car from local key maker. If the car doesn't start with the local key, then immobilizer is true and that means transponder doesn't require power.

Immobilizer do not require power. Immobilizer is working with the normal manual key of my car.
My collegue opted for normal manual keys for his Aura ABS model for which also immobilizer is working.

Immobilizer is activated when the ignition is turned off.

Don't know how this works.

I am really tempted to make a duplicate key and try it, just to be sure.

Why would your friend want normal manual keys when his car comes with company fitted central locking? Any advantage?[thinking]

BTW, How was your long drive?

There is no advantage.
My collegue has a fear about remote controlled keys after hearing some incidences during Mumbai Flood.

There is a chip inside the moulded key case which activates and de activates the immobilizer.

So even if you locally make a duplicate key, it can open the doors only. Engine will not start.

Its going great.

Only half of the planned 6000 km completed so far.

There is a break in the trip due to office work.
Came back to office by Flight.

It seems we will cover only 5000 km.

One of my Remote went for a wash with my jeans and came out clean and working. The drying effort of the washing machine was good, I suppose. Knew about it only when the key fell out while I was hanging the jeans on the cloths line.

Drove down to Chennai for a week. The steering wobbling is still there between 110 and 120. so kept the speed below 100 while going.

I was advised by the doctor during a medical checkup to avoid sudden jerks and movements. So drove back slowly, rarely touching 80 and not using the turbo at all. Got an FE of 21 for the return trip including around 100 kms of city driving in Chennai. (100%) AC.

Last Saturday while going to Hosur on some personal work, saw Vishwas near Hosur heading towards Krishnageri. It was the first time I have seen a TAI sticker on a car anywhere. Hope to see more of them around soon.

The car has completed over 25000 kms. But I will be using it less now as I have opted for full time working from home and will drive only if my presence is absolutely required in the office.

Bought a car cleaning kit at A2B on the way to Krishnageri, after the demo guys removed most of the scratches from the car, for 450 rs. Now my car does not have any noticeable scratch.

Still don't know if I should remove the sunfilms or wait for the PIL against the order to be heard in July.[confused]
