When i am driving slow (@20 to 30kmph) in an empty flat road i feel that the car doesnt move freely it needs some push. Is it due to heavy diesel engine or may be my perception?
I never faced such problem in my alto.
It will be in gear around 1K rpm. I find it sluggish down under the chassis as though some thing is pulling, but when the car is moving little faster then there wont be any issues.
That should be turbo lag.

If you are at 1000 rpm, its better to be in a lower gear.

(By shifting up in low speeds and low RPM, we will not gain on FE)

In diesel cars, we should up shift late as compared to petrol cars.

If we are in right rpm and right gear, then pedal push can be minimised. Infact if it is second gear and flat road, then we don't touch the accelerator for 20 to 25 km speeds. This is the case with any diesel car with sufficient torque.

Highway Ranger,

Your car is shining and looks like a new car.

Try shifting to a lower gear and see if the problem persists.

Else, press the clutch to coast the car and see if the car moves freely.

You may be at the wrong gear at that RPM. And what you might be feeling is the effect of engine braking...

For me the car moves freely at the speed of 38 kmph at 800 rpm in the 5th gear.

Hmmm... thanks for the inputs HR and Autosafari...

How do u feel the suspension of your manza? I feel its very soft, the car sinks down with 5 adults and some luggage. I need to be very careful when over the potholes or humps. Couple of times i heard that THUD sound with 40kmph speeds. At 15kmph also it sometimes touch the ground.

Sinks down!!

No that is something which I never felt in my car.

I have seen several cars (other makes) sink down with 2-3 persons in back seat. Not in Manza.

That thud sound in potholes is not because of underbody scrapping. Its different. Two many thud sounds means at the end of such a trip you may need to check wheel alignment.

Front approach height is less in Manza due to a platic part below the bumper. But sinking mostly affects the rear clearance height and that happening in Manza is very rare. You need to check with the service center if it is really scrapping in humps.

The Thud sound, though irritating, is an audio warning to take it easy on those stretches.

@ autosafari, the part below the front bumper is made of rubber. So it will not get damaged easily. Though, I cant say the same for the mudflaps that Tata supplies.

I have read similar thing for other manzas in other forums. The suspension is very soft in my car. May be i will check with the service centre next time.

From the time I bought this car till about a month back the roads in my layout were dug up to lay some pipeline and I used to travel in those roads for around 1.5 kms.

I used to be worried, because my previous Zen developed rattles doing those roads. But Manza is holding up ok.

Some times I get a rattle if the driver side window is half open. Does not happen if it is fully up or fully down.

Day before yesterday, I happened to see one professional looking wheel balancing and alignment joint in HSR layout and dropped in to have my wheels checked just for the heck of it. We found, during balancing one of the front wheel rim visually wobbling. Now they have placed it in the rear and put the good rims in the front.

Looks like I will have to go in for a couple of new rims. Don't know if I have to get it from Tata or I can get it outside. I don't think they should cost much.

Are you going to buy Alloy wheels or the normal ones.

Normal steel rims. Just a couple of them. If I have to change to alloys, I will have to change for all 4.

BTW, Did you get your car checked for the RPM issue?

That was a big joke. I gave it in Concorde chennai. The SA said that the speedometer value doesnot have any relation with the RPM value. He said that for each car it would be different and must not compare with other cars. I did not have time to argue and also was not able to leave the car in service station because I was travelling to BLR next day. So I thought will show this in some service station in bangalore may be KHT motors and see if these gys are able to understand the issue. Sorry I forgot to update you guys. I was busy in work and still busy. Will update the 2nd service details by this week when I get time.

You are seriously going to ask them that? [lol]

They probably wouldn't know what you are talking about and will give you some vague answer or figures.

These guys will kill a good product... U can imagine how they will be handling our cars in our absence. [shock]

I just got a call from Aadya dealer that they are setting up a free car check up camp this sunday. I have taken a slot for 3.30pm. Lets see what will be the outcome of this.
