Yup. I agree to the points you listed.
The internals of the engine WILL take a hit if you always drive with a WOT. But Sankar and I don't always drive with a WOT. We drive at a leisurely pace. I don't know about R-Owl or the others. That is the reason I recommended a remap to Sankar.
Also, TOT and Code6 will remap the car again free of cost if the dealers flash the stock map (which is a very very rare scenario). That is what I've read on many threads.
Also, the ECU of the 1.2 TDI is very difficult to crack. That is why Pete's, TOT and Code6 don't have a remap as yet. This friend of yours works for which group (if you don't mind sharing)? Can you ask him if they have managed to flash an ECU of the VAG 1.2 TDI?

@ VipinLJ: According to me if you are a sedate drive ther is no need of a remap but this is my thinking, its every bodies personal choice. But it is a bit difficult to control yourself with all the power you get. now even for me the Turbo Spools and the pushback on the seat was addictive but the result is a negative impact on the Fuel Consumption similarly here more power mean more enthusiasm which will affect the Turbo.Fromw what i have heard is that it is the Turbo that takes a big hit in the diesels and if it happens then it will surely set you back by a min of 75k.
A really good thing that they recode it if the car has been erased of a remap.
I cannot name him as he requested me not to but he is one of the famous guys here in mumbai known for modifications for the street races. His major works being on Petrols but also works on diesels.

Oh ok. No issues mate
BTW, I want the remap because I want power now. I wish the car accelerated better. And also to help reduce the turbo lag as it is quite irritating at times. Also, many Vento and Rapid owners also have claimed of a slight reduction in the engine clatter post remap. [clap]

I shift gears mostly between 2-3k rpm. Depends on the mood and amount of fuel left, to be honest [:D]

BTW contacted Kiirus, Mumbai, regarding the remap. Nothing for the 1.2 TDI yet [frustration]

@ VipinLJ: I know the turbo lag is very irritating at times and specially when you want to squeeze in the gap.
About the engine clatter i am not sure as the Octavia which i drove was the same no reduction in clatter but on general terms i feel the Tdi engines do clatter more than a CRDi engine.

@ R-Owl: I change gears before the turbo spools up i.e around 2100 RPM only if i am in a little mood will i go in the turbo zone. This is because the Turbo Push is too addictive for me[drive]. Here in Mumbai power does not play that much of a role as most of the times the roads are jammed up and even if you get a free stretch the roads are so bad that you might damage something in your car.

Anyways both of you'll do it and give me the reports if it is really worth it then will surely do it but i should have the car till then.

Will the remap really reduce the lag before 2k rpm, I usually shift around at 1.8k for better FE and at 2.3k at slops. The lags before 2k rpm is most irritating in 1.2 TDI Polo. One thing which I dont like is to go to 2nd gear but the car pushing me to do so on most of the occasion in high range roads.
When we will get a relief from this [confused]

Hopefully it can. The ECU can be remapped various ways depending on what your choice is (FE, driveability, performance). The turbo lag of the 1.2 TDI is a pain in the you-know-where at times, especially when you want to do quick overtakes and are stuck in the wrong gear.
The problem is that the ECU of the 1.2 TDI hasn't been cracked yet. I'm waiting just like everyone else and praying to God that they crack is soon. It's been more than a year now since they've been trying.

@ shij2013: Unfortunately i think it wont be able to reduce the turbo lag below 2k RPM. This info i have gathered from informations from various re mappers. It is the nature of the Turbo that spools up at 2.2k RPM. If you want to reduce the lag below 2k RPM you will have to change the Turbo only. Exactly what a remap does is it increases the flow of diesel to the engine when it is a diesel. In a petrol car it is a combination of petrol flow with air pressure but in case of a diesel its just pure diesel flow. With a remap the time taken to reach 2.2k RPM is reduced and that will vary from which stage of remap you opt for. Of course that will improve the performance a lot and the lag felt will be reduced but it will still be 2.2 k RPM only. The only difference in a ECU remap and the Diesel performance boxes is that in a remap the ECU is tuned and adjusted to the flow of diesel and exhaust flow which does not cause smoking but in a box the ECU is fooled i.e it is told to give extra diesel by another circuit but the exhaust output still remains stock hence after sometime the cars with boxes tend to smoke.

All this is that i have learnt from few re mappers i cant confirm how authentic this information is.

I doubt it will be that soon as the 1.2 TDi has been in the market for quiet some time now and with the new GT TDi the 1.2 will loose its charm soon as in mumbai a 1.2 TDi highline costs around 8.75 and the new GT Tdi around 9.6.

Yeah..I think by that time they crack it most people will replace their 1.2 tdi's [glasses] with something else. So many polo owners started to exchange with 1.6 tdi or moving to vento.

hey, I hope your beauty is doing good.
Mine is not doing so well. Had an accident today & the bonnet, front grille, right headlight holder, right quarter panel is damaged.
Well, I just thought of replacing the grille with the GTI ones. I have checked Vagtune.in website but it costs 10k+ excl. taxes. You said that you bought it for 6k. Is it the same price now or any details which you can provide?

Back home after a 2.5 km trip. Kochi -> Bangalore -> Goa -> Kochi. The car felt solid and planted on the hi way at 150+ kmph. Managed to reach 170 with 4 people on board and full luggage. Mileage was around 23-25 at a constant speed of 120-130 kmph with ac [clap]

There are many dealers selling the grille for 5k. Try Galaxy, Kochi or search for them on ebay. The ones Vagtune has are genuine VW grilles.

Well, being in North side of Kerala. Getting to Kochi is not an easy task for me. Anyways, never mind, I have got my car repaired under Insurance & my dad wasn't really convinced about the GTI grille. So dropped it for now!
Thanks for the reply shij2013 & R-Owl.

Wow. 170kmph is indeed hell of a speed for Polo. Probably the highest a Polo Diesel has achieved yet or is there anyone to prove me wrong here? [evil]
Also, with that changed exhaust of yours with Vroom sound. I bet that it would have been a wonderful music to the ears. [embarass]
And 23-25? Like seriously? That's an amazing fuel efficiency. The company claims 22kmpl.
