Ah! You have shot Delhi from such beautiful angles that has made me feel like an alien to this city. Qutub minar, lotus temple and rajghat, in that soothing winter sunshine. It has been a long time.
Oh, I forgot, Thank you very much Sir.

Day 15 : Delhi to Agra – 205 kms

8th February 2013, after breakfast we checked out from the hotel and started the journey to Agra at 8.30 am. We wanted to experience the drive on Yamuna Expressway. But MMI took us on the old high way before I realized. I filled up my diesel tank before I left the city limits, the last fuelling at a lesser price.

Reached Agra at 1.15 pm, We thought after check-in at hotel in Agra, we will visit Taj before evening and start our journey back home on the next morning early. But we found entry is closed to Taj Mahal on Fridays due to weekly maintenance. However we thought we can have look from out, and were walking down to the west gate which is half km away from the hotel we were staying. Meantime a cycle rickshaw fellow stopped and offered a ride to Taj and to some shopping areas, and we opted for it. But after going there we couldn’t see a clear view of Taj from outside. So we took some pics from the banks of Yamuna from where a part of Taj is seen. After a minor shopping we went to the hotel. We were told Taj entry will be opened at 6 am. We told the Rickshaw guy to come at 5.50 am and he had agreed. Later we went out for dinner by walk as the weather was very pleasant.

To be continued

Excellent coverage & there is no better way to see the country going by road or by train. I was in Delhi on 8th morning came by Dakshin Express. Since I do not know you there was no way of meeting up. Anyway keep driving more & keep clicking pics.

On a side note I saw some of the pics had some kind of blue haze/purple tint or over-saturation of colors. Something wrong with post edit?

Thank you.

Every picture has the size of nearly 13 MB and I compressed to 150 to 300 KB for uploading, so the quality is reduced.

Day 16 : Agra to Narsimhapur – 575 kms

9th February 2013, we got up at 4.30 am and were ready by 5.30 am, packed our baggage and kept. At 5.50 am we came out of the hotel and the rickshaw fellow was waiting. Within 10 minutes we reached the Taj ticket counter, though there was a big queue, it was a separate one for foreigners, and for Indians not much crowd. After collecting the ticket we stood again in the queue at the fort entrance, which they told will be opened at 7 am. There was a separate queue for ladies and gents as well.

Exactly at 7 am, the door was opened and immediately the hand bags were scanned apart from the personal security check, then we proceeded further.

Woh!!!!! The first sight of Taj Mahal !!! "LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT". No wonder it is one of the seven wonders of the world. The country’s pride. Amazing sight in the sun rise. Any Indian will be proud of. Shooting any number of pictures, you still feel to shoot more. We spent an hour there came back to the gate and the rickshaw was waiting. Came back to the hotel.

9 am we checked out and started our journey. The plan was to drive till Adilabad and take a break at a hotel and stay for the night and continue next morning. The route is Gwalior – Jhansi – Lalithpur – Sagar -Narsimhapur– Nagpur – Adilabad – Hyderabad – Bangalore.

Had the breakfast at a restaurant at Morena. We crossed Gwalior and were proceeding to Jhansi. After a couple of kms from Gwalior bye-pass we found absolutely no road at all. Since the road widening work was going on we thought the diversion would be there for a short distance. Oh hell!! More than 100 kms it was totally off road. Couldn’t exceed the speed more than 20 or 30 kms/h. We reached Jhansi around 2 pm, thought, further road would be good. After a few kms we entered a 4 lane road but again a diversion at every few kms which was really taking away all the driving time.

By 9pm we reached Narsimhapur covering only 575 kms and stopped for dinner at a restaurant. During the conversation with the restaurant owner he said the road is bad in several stretches, and advisable to take room at a hotel there and continue in the morning. And he had given us the directions to some hotels. We went there and stayed back for the night.

Day 17 : Narsimhapur to Bangalore – 1330 kms

10th February 2013 we checked out at 7 am and started the longest drive. We thought we will have breakfast on the way, but for hundreds of kms we didn’t find any dabha or restaurant. And the road till Nagpur has lot of ghat sections and diversions and bad stretches too. Before Nagpur, at a ghat section there was traffic jam for almost an hour. We crossed Nagpur at 2 pm, and due to road expansion work, the further road was also too bad till we reached a few kms away from Hyderabad. On the outskirts of Hyderabad we stopped at a restaurant and had lunch cum dinner.

At 7.15 pm we entered Hyd city, again MMI took us through the city. After refueling, we crossed Bangalore road flyover at 8.30 pm. Then continued the drive and the road was packed with heavy traffic. In between we stopped the car and had a short nap for an hour. Further we continued and reached Bangalore out skirts at 5 am and home at 6 am.

After two days I continued the journey to Kerala.

We thank GOD for giving us a memorable journey without any problem other than the incident near Jaipur. Still we consider it as part of the adventure and an experience as well. The main credit goes to my wife who was inspiring me through out the journey and but for her I would not have made it.

Whoever had read this TL, I really thank every one of you for sparing your valuable time.

Sir,

One important question. I think during complete trip, you alone was driving, so what about your driving tiredness each day, how you used to handle that. It is not easy for some body to drive some 7k kilometers without an alternate driver.

Excellent pics and hope your wife must have helped for this photography, what is her feeling before starting the trip and in certain situations like lands slides at manali and after finishing the trip[:)]

Awesome Pics Ram[clap][clap][clap]

Each and every pic tells the story of your trip.

Some Questions from my side:
1.Have you faced and GC issue?
2.how much was the fuel consumption of your ride?
3.How much amount you spent for the whole trip?

BTW, its a time to change your avatar with the pic of your car with snow.

Basically I started driving at the age of 21 and now I am 56 yrs, and 35 years of driving experience had given me the courage to handle any situation. Many times I encountered with problems like breakdown and minor accidents etc. And I suggest to all fellow members of TAI to learn the basic repair of your vehicle, especially when you are going for a long drive, and it will be very useful in case of emergency. I am used to long drive, and I didn't feel much tired, more over I use the A/c always. If you are exposed to dust and breeze during drive, you may get tired fast.

After a days long drive, I was taking rest on the following day.

All the pics taken from the car were shot by her. And most of the trips she use to come with me. More over she is my third eye. She feels the same as I do, during and after the trip - always cool.

My average fuel consumption was 20 kms/ltr. And Octavia is well known for it.

What do you mean by GC?

The complete expense chart I am attaching soon.

Thanks, I too wanted to change the avtar.
