Re: Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Test Drive Review

Hi Iron Rock,
That was a stunner of a review!I never knew that Pajero was a good handler.Wish it came with an automatic box,my friend was looking for one, could have cajoled him to buy one and get a test drive! For the time being I will have to satisfy myself by drooling over the pictures you have posted.

Regards,
Aneesh.
Thank you sir, I hear the automatic is coming soon.[:)]

Re: Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Test Drive Review

Wonderfully written review IR. I know how much effort has gone into writing such an exhaustive review from your side, but the outcome has been absolutely worth it. Brilliant set of pictures as well. Giving the thread a very well deserved 5 star.[clap]

Pajero Sport although a worthy challenger to the mighty Fortuner here in India hasn't really picked up gears due to absolutely no marketing of the car and the extremely poor dealer network and A.S.S of HM/Mitsubishi. Although looks pretty capable on every front and I am sure had it been given a real go by the manufacturer, the sale numbers would have been different.

Just for curiosity sake, how does the new Pajero Sport stack against the Ssangyong Rexton? I know the Rexton isn't as capable an off-roader than the Pajero Sport, but for someone going for a 4x2 wheel drive(Torque on demand in Rexton RX5 which is not an AWD), which one would be more bang for the buck?

Re: Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Test Drive Review

Hi IR,

Brilliant review and great pics.

Going through the pics, I noticed that 4WD gear stick is to the right of the normal gear stick. So does this hampers your ability to use normal gears. What I mean to say is, does that kind of get in between a person's hand and normal gear stick from time and again?

Hows the front seat comfort as against XUV. I am asking this question as I personally think XV front seats are awesome. [:D]

Thank you sir, i can tell you there is no bigger pain and pleasure(at the same time) for us automotive enthusiasts than doing reviews.
You are right sales wise the Fortuner is way ahead no comparison - but that is to do with HM non existence. If you look globally the Pajero Sport outguns the Fortuner in many markets. They are pretty much neck to neck.

I only drove the Rexton A/T briefly - I like to find a sweet spot in every vehicle, a USP, in the Rexton there was no one thing which stood out - it has a lot of features ,dont get me wrong, but nothing really blows you off. The steering felt like a racing video game joy stick. The only thing thats stands in favour of the Rexton is the pricing. The pricing is phenomenal - it is for people who look for VFM and max features. Offroad I havent driven yet so no comments. I have rallied the Pajero Sport off-road and i can say easily nothing else comes close in the range and slightly above as well.

Thank you sir, front seats are even stevens nearly, Pajero seat wraps you a little more + as the driver's seat is electric its easier. Anyways generally no comparison to the XUV whatsoever.
As far as gear stick query , they are placed well apart, there is no question of conflict at all, even the heights of the lever varies, its impossible to use one of the other inadvertently.

Excellent review IR and pics

What about raid quality ??
[surprise]Shhhhhhhh!!!

[shock]How on earth did you come to know of Iron Rock's top secret raid plan[thinking]?
Err , talking of the ride quality - there is no better combination of ride quality, driving dynamics/handling, offroad-onroad nature and that ruggedness/ durability/reliability - all packaged together, up till this segment and a little higher as well - period! Freakdude calls this a devil's ride, once you have driven this - you simply cant forget it.

Re: Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Test Drive Review

Shame there aren't any dirty pictures in this wonderful review. Do it some justice sir , else just sell it and buy a Sail Sedan.

Awaiting your ownership review with lots of mayhem pics of bursted differentials, sheared bumpers, crushed fenders, ripped apart tailgate, punctured radiator, flattened exhaust.... dirty pics.

Mud bath is good for skin they say.

Re: Mitsubishi Pajero Sport: Safety, Fuel Efficiency and Verdict

Thanks for the marvellous review. No review can be more beautifully written that takes a deep dive of SUV functionlity. The drive variations is beautifully explained and along with pictures, the review is a masterpiece!! [thumbsup]

:offtopic:
We generally rate VFM factor with what we see, does it have enough features for the price, but for some vehicles its the factor that we don't necessarily see visually - the durability, the robust engineering with plenty of safety margins built within every component whether its the engine, the drive train, a bush, suspension or just a clip holding a hose in the engine bay. Its what it can do on and off road that makes it a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport!
I feel that the term VFM will apply for vehicles that are around INR 10L or less. Vehicles costing more than this are bought just because heart rules over mind !!

Re: Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Test Drive Review

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Test Drive Review-a neat crisp review. Congrats Iron Rock.
It is also interesting to note that no official road test of Toyota Fortuner. An official road test of Fortuner is welcome. Mitsubishi vehicles are known for ruggedness, and durability. My near relative is driving a Mitsubishi Lancer now over 3Lakhs KM without any issues, just routine maintenance. He is again interested to go for Mitsubishi vehicles. I have extensively used Mitsubishi vehicles, sedan to SUV. My relative is having the same vehicle, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. I have posted some pictures in that thread. Any relevant news about the refreshed Pajero Sport in coming months?

Re: Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Test Drive Review

The refresh is largely cosmetic and interior + features + i think it includes a gen next rear differential which can be locked, I think out here in India it's the auto version which will come first given our market dynamics. They currently just sell one version so more versions including an at should be a higher priority

Hi Iron Rock,

The central dash of Pajero Sport (middle east version) as showed below. The rear view camera is integrated with Audio Visual System. How the rear sonars are connected in Indian Pajero Sport? Any graphical interface or only beeps? It is not mentioned in your review. How is the response of Apollo tyres?

Thats right Mathew, if you look at the current Anniversary edition - its a good all integrated unit from Kenwood, however it misses the MID because they replaced the MID with the Kenwood unit (Mid pictures in my review separately but thats not included in the Pajero Sport Anniversary edition by default) - I had got it fitted in my car as an additional accessory because i really wanted it.

The refreshed model has this problem solved by placing the MID over the touchscreen unit - nice one there. thanks for sharing that pic.

Coming back to your question on the rear sonars, the Pajero has both sonar and rear view camera - so you have both visual look and beeps. Ill add a picture of this to the review as well. Regarding Apollo tires i heard they last long, in terms of off-road performance, i think they would be average as they are not high end tires. Ill keep you posted on this.
