Mercedes-Benz India has achieved its best ever H1 in India with record sales of 8,528 units (H1 2022: 7,573). The company continues to witness demand for the Top-End Vehicle portfolio which grew by 54%.
  • Mercedes-Benz India retailed a record 8,528 units in the January - June 2023 period, registering a 13% YoY growth.
  • The total order bank of Mercedes-Benz India as of June 2023 is 3,500+ units (without the GLC SUV).
  • The E-Class Long Wheelbase (LWB) remained the single highest selling model for Mercedes-Benz India.
  • The GLE becomes the highest selling SUV for Mercedes-Benz India followed by the GLA SUV in H1 2023.
  • There's also a very high demand for the GLS, S-Class, S-Class Maybach, GLS Maybach and AMG G 63 in particular.
  • Mercedes-Benz India’s BEV portfolio grew 10 times in H1 2023 with the introduction of the EQB and EQS luxury BEVs.
  • Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that the new generation GLC will be launched in India in Q3 2023.

Mercedes-Benz India today announced the strong sales momentum in the January-September 2023 period, delivering 12,768 new cars to customers (opposed to 11,469 units from Jan-Sep 2022):
  • Mercedes-Benz India witnessed robust sales performance for the ‘Core Luxury’ segment comprising key products like C-Class, E-Class LWB, GLC and GLE.
  • There's a high demand for TEVs comprising S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, AMGs and EQS in Jan-Sep 2023, that grew up to 22%, comprising 25% of YTD sales.
  • The company is currently experiencing a supply-chain bottleneck, which is causing constrained availability of the key SUVs such as the GLA, GLC, and GLS.
  • Mercedes-Benz has also collaborated with NMACC to offer its customers exclusive experiences from the world of art, culture, fashion and luxury.
  • The collaboration was complemented with the exclusive unveiling of the rare and exclusive ‘Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6’ for the very first time in India.

Mercedes-Benz India has appointed Amrit Baid as Head of Marketing and Customer Journey from 1st February 2024.
  • Amrit is currently associated with Region Overseas Marketing team of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, in Kuala Lumpur.
  • He succeeds Pradeep Srinivas who moves to Mercedes-Benz AG Headquarters, taking up a global role as Manager Digital Marketing Solutions & Data Analytics at Mercedes-Benz Digital unit.
  • Pradeep Srinivas began his Mercedes-Benz career in 2011, responsible for the Marketing function. During his tenure, he rolled out online sales which became the foundation for new online sales approaches.
  • Amrit Baid began his career with Mercedes-Benz India in 2013 under the aegis of the CAReer program. He executed several successful brand campaigns, supported the launch of multiple products and more.

Mercedes-Benz recorded its best ever year in its history in India with 17,408 units (+10%).
  • This achievement is complemented with highest ever H2 sales (8,880 units) and highest ever Q4 sales (4640 units).
  • Mercedes-Benz has planned an investment of INR 200 crores in 2024 towards manufacturing operations, new product startups and digitization of manufacturing process.
  • The total investment of Mercedes-Benz India is at INR 3000+ crores on 30th year of Indian operations.
  • The German automaker will setup 20 new workshops in 10 new cities in 2024 including Jammu, Kanpur, Udaipur, Amritsar, Patna, Valsad, Agra, Kannur, Kottayam etc.
  • Mercedes-Benz has scheduled to launch 12+ new products in 2024 across portfolio including ICE and 3 new BEVs. The 50% of new launches will be in the top-end vehicle segment.

Mercedes-Benz today inaugurated the first MAR20X Sales facility in Nagpur. It is the first of 25 facilities in India, transitioning to Mercedes-Benz’s world-class MAR20X luxury showroom format in 2024.
  • Mercedes-Benz Central Star MAR20X Showroom features Exclusive Customer Lounge, Exclusive EV Corner, Dedicated Delivery Bay, Hospitality Counter, Shop Wall for Boutique display and Sample Studio.
  • The showroom is spread across 3,000 sq.ft. The 2S Service facility features 6 PMGR bays, 5 Body & Paint bays and one interactive bay catering to 1500+ customers in the important Vidarbha region.

Mercedes-Benz delivered 5,412 new vehicles between January - March 2024. The company recorded a healthy 15% YoY sales growth (Q1 2023: 4697 units).
  • Mercedes-Benz recorded its highest fiscal sales ever in India, with 18,123 units sold in FY 2023-24 (FY 2022-23: 16,497). March 2024 recorded Mercedes-Benz’s highest single monthly sales ever, in India.
  • The entry segment comprising A-Class sedan and GLA SUV was able to register a strong presence with sales contribution of 15%.
  • The ‘Core Segment’ comprising the C-Class, LWB E-Class sedans and the GLC and GLE SUVs contributed a significant 60%, to the overall sales volumes of Mercedes-Benz in Q1 2024.
  • The TEV segment also continued to command 25% of Mercedes-Benz’s overall sales in India, firmly reiterating the continued customer preference for top-end luxury and exclusive vehicles.
  • The penetration of the BEV portfolio grew more than 6% from earlier 4% in Q1 2024. Mercedes-Benz plans to debut three new BEV in the remaining quarter of 2024.
  • Mercedes-Benz will also debut the ultra-exclusive AMG S 63 e-Performance sedan as well as the AMG C 63 e-Performance, strengthening its AMG performance portfolio.

Mercedes-Benz announced its best-ever H1 2024 and best-ever Q2 sales performance in India.
  • Mercedes-Benz retailed a record 9,262 units in the January-June 2024 period, registering a 9% YoY growth.
  • The highest-ever six-monthly sales performance was driven by new and existing products, availability of volume models and an elevated customer experience delivered at retail level.
  • There was sustained demand for Mercedes-Benz vehicles across entry, core and Top-End Vehicle segments. The SUV segment continued to top customer preference with 55% penetration to overall sales.
  • The sedan portfolio comprising the A-Class, C-Class, outgoing LWB E-Class and S-Class topped customer preference for a luxury sedan.
  • Mercedes-Benz also witnessed robust demand for its TEV portfolio with Maybach range growing the highest at 108% in H1 2024.
  • Mercedes-Benz’s BEV portfolio continued to gain traction, growing 60% y-o-y in H1 2024, with a penetration of 5% in H1 2024 sales.

Mercedes' Wishbox campaign offers customised financial solutions

Mercedes-Benz India has rolled out a new financial campaign called ‘Wishbox’. The program aims to help prospective Mercedes car and SUV buyers by offering them personalized financial solutions as per their requirements.

The Wishbox campaign offers three key solutions, namely Step-Up EMI, Easy Annual Benefit and EMI Holiday – thereby helping potential buyers in easing off immediate cash outflow and any financial commitments. Step-Up EMI solution is for customers seeking lower initial financial commitment, wanting an upgrade or trade-in, offering lower monthly payments with gradual increases year-on-year, culminating in a balloon payment at the end. Step-Up EMI starts at Rs 39,000.

Easy Annual Benefit is made for buyers who prefer larger one-time annual payments, but are comfortable with lower monthly EMIs only. EMI starts at Rs. 60,000 under this solution. The EMI Holiday solution offers a zero to minimal EMI option for the first three months after purchase. EMI under this program starts at Rs 57,000 from the fourth month onwards.

Mercedes is currently in the midst of introducing six new cars in the second half of this year in India. Upcoming models from the German luxury carmaker include the new Mercedes E Class, G Class EV, Maybach EQS, and more.

Mercedes-Benz India has appointed Dr.Shyam Sunder as the Head of External Affairs & Corporate Citizenship, effective from August 26, 2024.
  • Dr.Shyam will report to Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO. In his new role, Dr.Shyam will lead Mercedes-Benz India’s government relations, public policy advocacy, and policy initiatives.
  • He will foster close collaboration with policymakers and industry leaders, and work to build communities through Mercedes-Benz’s diverse corporate citizenship programmes.
  • Shyam Sunder holds a master’s degree in Econometrics and Ph.D. in Economics. With a career spanning 24 years, he has held pivotal roles related to driving public policy & advocacy and Government engagements.
  • He has also worked with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), where he played a vital role in shaping public policy and fostering industry collaborations.

Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India today announced the expansion of Sustainability Garage – a unique platform for diverse stakeholder groups to collaborate and champion sustainability goals.
  • The initiative will now include two new Centres of Excellence based out of Hyderabad and New Delhi.
  • First new Centre of Excellence of the Sustainability Garage, the Climate Tech Incubator, aims to support 25 social enterprises focused on sustainable mobility and environmental innovation.
  • MBRDI will provide seed funding, customised support, and mentorship to selected enterprises. T-Hub, will engage 500+ students in design thinking and prototyping bootcamp for innovative climate tech solutions.
  • The Centre of Excellence focusing on Charging Infrastructure, set up in partnership with TERI, will offer a specialised training program on maintenance of charging infrastructure, certifying 60 young professionals.
  • The first Sustainability Garage Centre of Excellence was launched at Prayoga Institute of Education Research in Feb 2024. It serves as a hub for multidisciplinary research, focusing on developing sustainable materials.

Mercedes-Benz has inaugurated a state-of-art luxury 3S facility in Noida with its long-standing partner Silver Arrows. Three more outlets are scheduled to open in Delhi-NCR in the next 30 days.
  • Mercedes-Benz has transformed 18 facilities to international standards in 2024 including 7 new ones and 11 revamped ones into latest luxury format. By end 2024, this count will be 40.
  • The showroom provides diverse consultation spaces including Open, Semi-Private, and Private zones. The ‘Sample Studio’ allows to view different paint and upholstery samples under the daylight lamps.
  • The ‘Exclusive Lounge’ is designed to offer an opportunity to experience the fascinating ‘Top End Vehicles’, emphasizing the design elements of clarity, sensuous curve, and refinement.
  • The ‘Vehicle Handover Area’, designed as a 'Black Box,' provides an immersive experience for the emotional moment when customers receive their new car.
