Suzuki Ignis to feature Harman infotainment unit.
Harman bags Suzuki contract for new infotainment system in Ignis.

The system for the new Ignis boasts a special HMI (Human Machine Interface), easy smartphone integration and navigation as well. In addition, the system supports Apple CarPlay. The system also allows the use of the voice-recognition function. In India, Maruti currently uses a different infotainment system dubbed SmartPlay which has most of the above mentioned functions.

Maruti Suzuki defers Ignis launch by 3-6 monthys to clear Brezza, Baleno backlog

Maruti Suzuki India, the country's largest car maker, has deferred the launch of its hatchback Ignis by three to six months so that it can clear a backlog of about 1 lakh bookings for its Vitara Brezza and Baleno models in a sluggish market amid strained production capacity.

Instead of introducing the tallboy crossover hatchback Ignis this festive season, Maruti Suzuki will launch the vehicle in 2017, according to people familiar with the matter. The production of Ignis, which was scheduled to start by the last week of September, has been put off to the last week of November.

Found a video of base model of Ignis. Touchscreen audio system, manual AC, no triple tone interior, no xenon headlamps or fog lamps, no alloys. Without all these, it typically look like a regular Suzuki car.

Wow thata fantastic news and 3 star for car without airbags is very very good. Coming from Suzuki stable is even great news. No more can we call ignis as a tin can. Only thing is that, the same spec car should be launched in India. I know Baleno for europe is 4 star but indian baleno no idea. Similarly indian Swift and celerio are 0 stars but swift in europe is 4 star again.
Hope india bound ignis is similar in specs as the one tested.

Airbags are standard no way they can sell a car without airbags in Europe. For India Baleno which shares platform with ignis got similar rating in Europe but you can see how the domestic model has been performing on Indian real world crash tests. The Indian made Ignis will definitely weigh below 800kg getting closer to Alto k10's weight of 750kg.

Frankly speaking it has the ugliest c pillar I have ever seen in a car. Interior dashboard is also very ugly. Kuv100 also doesn't look good from the side profile. But this one is plain ugly except from front. Lets see how market receives it as it has advantage of being a maruti suzuki.
