Re: Suzuki's New Premium Hatchback Coming Up

The profile looks good, while the front looks quite "sedan-like" with that long bonnet and squaring off. But the grille is weird looking and the headlamps are OLD!
The rear is just an evolution of the Alto. Looks like a Chinese car! I hate the rear![frustration]
What the hell is wrong with Maruti? Can't they EVER let go off the Swift's elements?
This will sell quite good though.

The YRA gets a brand instrument panel design. The dashboard has a black colour, possibility to give it a sportier look than premium, just like the Swift. There is a music system with vertical air-con vents. Then, there is the generation three-spoke steering wheel, with an all instrument cluster design. It gets vertical AC vents with an integrated 2-DIN music system, which doesn’t have touch and may not even have a coloured screen.
So, the features on top-of-the-line YRA (ZXi/ZDi) variant will be:
-Power windows
– Electronic power steering
– 2-DIN music system with Bluetooth, USB and aux-input
– Multiple airbags (atleast for Europe)
– Multi-functional steering wheel
– Keyless entry, push start and stop
– Reverse parking sensor
– Cruise Control
– Climate control
– Rear defogger and wiper
– Alloy wheels
The dashboard is black and the seats are a combination of black and grey. The automatic variant won’t come in the range-topping variant and this one will get lesser features. The features on the mid-variant (VXi/VDi) will be

  • Power Windows
  • Electronic power steering
  • Climate Control
  • Steering mounted audio controls

Testing begins in India. Expect Suzuki's new turbo petrol engine in this. Mid 2015 release seem possible.

90% chance this will be a 1.2 petrol due to excise duty norms. Many will be cross-shopping between The Bolt's Revotron and this.

Re: Suzuki's New Premium Hatchback Coming Up

Car looks very big, I doubt its sub 4m. It doesn't have typical Indian hatchback proportions. Looks more like compact sedan with almost no protruding back, giving it an appearance like a notchback.

Interesting car.

Re: Suzuki's New Premium Hatchback Coming Up

Seems like a competitor to Elite i20 and the Polo. But I am confused as to how the new cars will be positioned?

Swift-Dzire - S Cross - YRA or ?

Re: Suzuki's New Premium Hatchback Coming Up

Maruti Suzuki's Premium hatch to be built in India and exported to Europe.

Testing of the hatch is with 1.2-litre K12C engine, which is the new Dual-Jet engines from Suzuki. These engines produce about 90bhp of power. This engine has better torque at low engine speeds making it more easier to drive in city and at the same time even increasing its fuel efficiency.
The second engine on offer will be the recently developed Suzuki’s 1.5-litre diesel engine. This is a four-cylinder engine and the two-cylinder version of this engine will be used to power the Celerio diesel and Maruti Suzuk’s LCV Super Carry.

Expect an late 2015 release of this car which will be showcased in one of the global motor shows.

Err... Does that mean the side SRS Airbag version is going to be exported to Europe (and not sold in India)?
It would depend on the country specific mandated safety norms in the standard variant.

Re: Suzuki's New Premium Hatchback Coming Up

For the upcoming Maruti YRA hatchback, which will be positioned above the Swift, the car maker will add a turbocharger to the existing 1.0-liter K-series petrol engine that currently powers the Alto, Celerio and the WagonR. Such a move will enhance power output, yet, maintain high levels of fuel efficiency.
