ok thanks buddy. This filter part number is 16510M68K10 and it seems is more in 68mm range. Thus I have decided to not go for a 70mm socket cap wrench which may well be too loose for the intended application. Going to get a 68 mm 14 flute generic cap off the net since most suzuki motors seem to use the same. It may work on a 69 as well.

I don't have a vernier calipers or a laser tool so exact measurement is not possible ATM. But from rough estimate it seems a sliver short of 70mm.

Aneesh,
Thanks for the very detailed explanation of the oil change.,BTW the jack point mentioned in the manual is not correct for some cases., I made a bend on running board while jacking up. Were did you find that tool for oil filter?

The gear oil drain bolt is located below the gearbox, it cant be opened using a spanner, instead a "bit" is required, which looks like the mounting point of an empty rachet.
tell me about it. [;)]

It is pain in the place where sun don't shine i.e. The eeco transmission oil filler plug is bigger pita. The transmission oil filler plug is blocked by the rear differential (remember the eeco is a RWD) drive shaft bolt.

The oil plug that maruti uses for alto and rest of the model range is a 10mm recessed square plug that requires a special 10mm square head tool to open up. In absence of which even a 3/8 drive head can also be used, you can get by with it in an alto because it is FWD and no irritating bolt blocks the way. So an extension bar for 3/8 square drive is also required. And guess what none of the tool shops normally carry such stuff.

Ordered on tolexo, something called the Jhalani expert oil change spanner, but the entire site is a fraud perpetrated on unassuming net users and the bakra who unwittingly buys anything from that fraud site.

So I already have a 3/8 drive and just need an extension bar, chalo dekhte hain.

Any one using Synthetic oil in ALTO Lxi ?
I am nearing 1,00,000 Kms :) also an Oil Change.
Engine feels good, does not seem to age at all (it was converted to CNG 10K back).
Just need some suggestions on Synthetic oil for Old Altos.
