M&M Stopped the booking of AWD due to the following

Demand for 4x2 models were very high
There were some niggles in their 4x4 system which they rectified in later stage. As the problem was slippage of 4x4 system in initial batch product.

Later on the problems were resolved and productions were ramped up and voila we have again open bookings for AWD model of XUV.

The noise or grinding sound is 100% from brake system of the vehicle and its a manufacturing defect. which yet M&M not accepted as a major fault. Will see how fare they'll do that in europe with these grinding brake system as law in europe is much hard. Or may be M&M is using different brake system and components in their export models.

M&M’s XUV500 now has to prove that it is a world-class vehicle

In early 2009 after launching the Xylo, a multi-purpose vehicle, the top brass at India's largest utility vehicle maker Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) felt it was ready to fast-track its most ambitious project till date - building a sports utility vehicle (SUV) that could hold its own against the world's best.

Eighteen months later, the 'cheetah' or the XUV5OO was born amidst carefully-calibrated hype and rare customer frenzy in a slowing down automotive market.

That build-up and consequent anticipation has translated into 35,000 XUV500s roaring on Indian roads a year down the line -- and another 14,000 buyers waiting to get their hands on M&M's most advanced SUV yet.

The big question: what next from M&M? After all, it's been a steady progression for the UV maker who, till a decade ago, was known as maker of rugged and reliable vehicles, although not the most comfortable and contemporary in design and look.

To be sure, M&M has plenty lined up on the XUV500 platform-it is evaluating close to half a dozen iterations, including an automatic version, one with a petrol engine, a cheaper variant code-named W4, a souped-up extension dubbed W10 [confused] and a global MPV version code-named W203.

The company had launched the SUV in South Africa along with its India launch, and sells 100-150 units every month. Over the last few months, the XUV500 has been launched in Australia and Italy; Chile is next.

"I will be able to define success if we are able to get consistently sell 500 per month in these four markets; that will give us a feeling that we are getting reasonable volumes and eventually to get 1,000 to 1,200 units per month from exports," adds Goenka.

It won't be an easy ride, warns Deepesh Rathore, managing director, IHS Automotive India: "It (going global) is a step in the right direction, but the XUV in its existing form may not be ideal for global markets. To succeed, M&M will have to improve on its features, quality, and engines and need to enhance the product to compete against global majors."

Not to worry that much

As per the info from other Forum where there is a dedicated thread on the niggles and issues faced in XUV 500, this problem occures after few hundred kms of driving and no matter what so far M&M has done to rectified the problem they have failed. Even their latest batch of vehicle has the similar problem. I hope this would be sort out by them ASAP to make thier customer much happier then they are now.

Just wait for some time and if the noise will come in your vehicle then take them to ASS and they 'll replace brake pads and may be disc. Than you'll drive for some hunded of kms and if the noise come again repeat the process or else enjoy the no noise brakes of the vehicle.
But i heard that M&M is working day and night from last one year to rectified this problem..

For one year, M & M can't find solution for this brake sound ? [shock]
Hope it doesn't sound like truck brake.....that craaang, isssss, isssssss [confused] else passengers sleeping inside on long drive will wake up.
Seems XUV guys need to carry brake pads & disc like spare tyre...as soon as sound comes, halt, replace the pads & drive. To give different look, we can have disc brake on boot....world's first. [lol]

If this sound comes from all 3 XUVs, they will then understand why I asking them to buy Altis or Jetta.

mate , every car has some factory defect. each and every car. the brake sound is not a deal breaker , you'll get used to it and i'm sure this will be present in all of the XUV's.

and replacing the pads every 500 kilometers . not feasible [:D]

and please don't use excessive dots in your comments. just a reminder.

Thanks buddy. Will post all details once I see it, the W6 which is in Pune.
When I will go to Nagpur, I will upload pics & comparo between W6 & W8.
Apart from this, a new Merc C class too has been purchased by my friend & neighbor. Since I was involved right from day 1 in this, will post all details & pics of this too. And I must say, the financial offers from Merc are so lucrative that it is stupid to buy something like Passat or Accord now. Will explain how on new/C Class thread. [:)]

XUV500 convoy to drive across Asia

The second ASEAN-India car rally, celebrating 20 years of ASEAN-India relations, will kick off on November 26, 2012, in Indonesia. After the opening ceremony, the rally will begin in Singapore and run its course across 10 countries, including Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Lao PDR, Thailand, Myanmar and India.

The rally is organised by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Confederation of Indian Industry with the aim of spreading awareness about India’s relations with its ASEAN neighbours. The rally will have 31 SUVs, all XUV500s, supplied by Mahindra & Mahindra. It was first held in 2004 and flagged off by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The rally is expected to end at Guwahati on December 17 with a flag-down by Industries Minister, Kamal Nath. A total of 124 people will participate in the rally, with each nation having two teams of four people in two cars. En route, events will be held in each participating ASEAN nation.

2, mr. Ramanathan - manager customer care automotive sector – chennai
3. Mr. Krishna kumar service station manager- chennai - zulekha motors

respected sir,

sub: regarding replacement of my manufactured defected mahindra xuv - 500

I had purchased a mahindra xuv500 w6 for a consideration of rs.13,50,000 /- From zulaikha automobile agency chennai 0n 31.10.2011 with registeration no.Tn-46u-9999 chasis no.B6h60451 and the engine no.Hjb4h5097

right from the time of purchase I have been encountering some problem or the other in the vehicle.
After immediate delivery of vehicle I travel ed from chennai to my native place perambalur after the vehicle ran for 200 kms with an average speed of 100 kms I encountered a vibration and left side pulling,

just about a week after I purchased the car, I found that shifting gears were not smooth and informed the same to the service station, and they replaced the gear box oil with synthetic oil.
A few weeks after that I encountered the below said problems periodically , which was again repaired and replaced at the service station periodically
1. Headlight assembly 5 times
2. Horn full assembly 1 time
3. Info dynament(CD player) 4 times
4. Power window assembly 1 time
5. Wiper full assembly unit 1 time
6. Clutch plate 2 times
7. Front brake discs 1 time
8. Front brake pads 5 times
9. Rear brake pad 1 time
10. Left front tyre 1 time
11. All tyres iincluding extra tyre (5nos) 1 time
12. Remote lock and key 1 time
13. All four wheel suspensions 1 time

it is to be noted that the car is just 11 months old, driven only for 35,000 odd kilometers . Out of the above said kms, my vehicle has to travel 800 kms up and down from my native perambalur tp chennai for service or replacements on an average of 25 times which has costed me an additional expenditure for fuel , toll plaza, driver wear and tear of the vehicle and agony. This above things costed me 20,000 kms running of the vehicle and more or less and approximnately 50 to 60 days my vehicle is parked at the service station, but the number of problems that I have faced in this period is way too much and risky.

After having such bad experiences, I have completely lost faith in the quality and the safety this car has for me and my family, as it is found to have so many technical and manufacturing defects.

The last thing that I experienced in my vehicle after repeated change of front brake pad the vehicle ren ders in a brake problem again and gets heated up of the travelling 200 kms immediately from the service centre and during that time when I have applied my break it pulls left side .At present 04.09.12 my vehicle is at service centre for past 10 days for replacement of break pad for sixth time.

With all the above disappointments, sufferings and mental agony that I have faced after purchasing the mahindra xuv500, I only think , it is right on my part to demand mahindra & mahindra to replace my current car with a new mahindra xuv500 of good quality and standards or otherwise repay the money that I paid , with interest.

After having narrated all the above details in a mail to the senior people in mahindra, it is really very sad that non e of their executives are promising any thing in writing and they are only trying to convince me from the beginning.
I have demanded the above said conditions because I don’t have faith in breaks reliability, safety durability in the vehicle and if any ontoward incident happens for my safety only company is sole responsible for it. So please do the earliest.

Thanking you,
dr,D.Kumaravel
yours faithfully,
