Jaydev I am just trying to compare Aria and XUV as product vs product, in the real world though price matters a hell of a difference, and at the moment considering its price and gadgets XUV is definitely a better buy than the Aria. But I just wanted to check where Aria stands as a quality/flagship product of tata vs XUV the flagship car of mahindra. And after going through Autocar review I am proud of Aria as a product, and now with the 4x2 variant I think Aria is not that overpriced to say the least.
you cant do that, else I can compare the Aria with the Santa fe. Price pays a very important role in product design & quality.

As i said earlier, if mahindra chose to increase prices of the XUV by 3 lakhs & give toyota like plastic quality, it would be a sales dud like the Aria.

All those who are doubting whether XUV has traction control or not , buy the nov 2011 issue of Autocar , go to buyers guide section and see for yourself that the XUV hasn't got traction control as per autocar. You can check page number 296. It will clear all doubts regarding XUV, cheers.
Literally tired of this now.

I don't get it, what is the point of highest quality and least sales?
products are made for sale, isnt it? production and sales should be in sync. I dont think tata might have produced Aria for less than 300 custome

Aria have failed, it may have additional bells and whistles sure, would that translate into better sales..better for Tata if it does.
Very very valid point there.

One should travel in Aria back to back with fortuner then you will know who can kill whom.
I have'nt traveled but one of my friend whose info is much reliable.

It doesnt matter with a company like Tata with present sales figure ,from my observation Tata is going upwards towards north side as far as their products are concerned but gradually.

Any moment they can come up with something extra ordinary.

Yes buddy you maybe right in this part of view, but in real world a prospective buyer will first compare with the companies,we auto enthusiasts will know the inside story, but that buyer first sees the word of mouth communication which involves not only about the car,but also their company backup levels like A.S.S,its resale, whether the car brings an image or not(especially in this category).

Aria might prove well than Fortuner, but still people want an hassle free ownership car.And the main reason for hating Aria is the pricing levels where it gave way to the buyers to invest more to touch Fortuner.

Its well and good and i would be delighted for them to become a success as its our country's product, they should read the people's mind correctly, like others do.

Everybody gets bored with same kind of lifestyle everyday. I am sure sooner or later tata will get bored of "inconsequential" ASS and make a benchmark in Auto industry.I see them marching forward towards similar destiny.

Indica vista and Manza is a success and Aria should be the baby steps, it will be slow initially but will gain momentum and force when it grows.

They have come forward in remarkable ways from old troublesome Indica and safari days.

Did legend say "slow and steady wins the race. "

All the cars are best at it, but when it's time for comparison then you then there are some ups and downs in every model. Here i go for the Mahindra XUV. One of the best make by Mahindra.

By the way, was off to kerela for a week. Sat in my uncle's Aria again, infact drove it for a few hundred kms this time, so a few corrections to my previous comments-

1) Third row legroom is more in Aria, if middle bench is slided forward
2) I reconfirm that low end torque of Aria is not as good as scorpio mHawk, leave alone XUV
3) My uncle's Aria has done 12300 kms, no rattling or squeaking from anywhere
4) After seeing both vehicles in flesh, I feel that Aria looks better in pics but in flesh, XUV looks better, infact turns heads

Could not compare NVH, ride & drive & I have not driven the XUV yet.

by the way guys, its confirmed - our next car is going to be the XUV5OO. our scorpio in Kerela is getting old, planning to sell it. Replace it with the Innova we are using in Mumbai. So in Mumbai, we want a new vehicle & that would be the XUV. Not this year though.

So who lost market share to the XUV500? One vehicle that does seem to have felt the heat from the XUV500 is the Toyota Innova. The Innova’s sales fell 28% to 3,411 vehicles in October. The propositions of the XUV500 and the Toyota Innova are similar – both are 7-seaters, spacious and comfortable.
Does that means Xuv is just an MUV like innova? or something wrong with we Indians?

Nothing wrong jayadev. basically nobody buys the XUV AWD or Aria 4x4 to take it for off roading. all they need is a 7 seater vehicle to carry their family. but Innova is too van like & not at all stylish. here, the xuv wins with its VFM quotient.

in reality, prospect customers of the innova, scorpio, XUV & even fortuner is the same.
