Re: XUV 500 Clutch plate and Flywheel gone bad, twice in 49k Kms

i m from Mumbai, i do own a Xuv500 ,
i have changed the clutchplate before 6k kms n now service centre is telling is that it is burnt again...
total kms is 45k
cost is much higher to do it again n again...
What is the reason they are saying its just burnt in 6K kms?

Does there any specific reason behind it? Did you recently traveled on any hill station with half clutch ?

Hi, this thread has been very informative, I had similar issues in my XUV 500 W8,

My usage is very minimal, and I have been an experienced driver, driving from past 20 years..

My Xuv which is now 2.5 years old. Driven 29K now.

At 8K, I started facing clutch slip issues, and could not drive on up hills well, complained to service center, they checked, stating everything looks OK. They did nothing, but the issues repeated mainly when the engine was heated, with longer hours of drive. So in a service center they never could replicate the issue easily, I had to make them drive for 1 hour or more which never happened.. :-)

The issues increased gradually, at 15K, they said clutch had to be adjusted and now it will be fine, again issues went away for a few weeks and the issue returned at a higher frequency, now occurring even with 10 min drive. At 19K kms, the issue was too bad, and they asked me to change the clutch plate and full clutch assembly. Costed 45K.

I tried my best to ask for free of cost, never worked, all stated it's driving pattern, and mahindra clutch is advanced, so shud be carefull, etc, etc. Fed up of they stating my driving patterns, I paid.

Now after 6K again I started facing the same clutch slip issues when engine runs for longer than 1 hour or uphills... At 29K I have complained and asked for checks.. Awaiting feedback.

Any idea what may be the cause.. I have been extra cautious on driving pattern, avoiding half clutch even in city driving as much as possible. No up hill drives.. Etc.

Worried if something else is causing this wear and tear, that will again hit me in next 6K, causing a replacement...

Any tips on what to check for, to confirm this issues..
